I couldn't believe the Euro bullshit either, CO2 taxes for airplanes? WTF? BETTER DAMN TAX THOSE INDUSTRIAL PLANTS!! Moneysucking leeches, and all the people are like 'yeah, whatever, we'll pay 30 euros more, eventhough the contribution of air travel to rising CO2 levels is only 1.5%'. Morons, trying to screw ignorant people. So yeah, I won't be suprised if the F-22 got some air freshener dispenser to conform with air quality regulations :P

Ok, this is my fisrt, and probably last post in this thread: I completely agree with Sonny. Yes the F-22 is uber now, and will not lose much of its uber-ness in 10 years, but if it would have to go against flocks of well-linked cheaper fighters, be it a rusty mig-29 with the latest avionics or a EF-2000, numbers will count in the future. Alternatively other nations come up with their own projects, but the service numbers will be significantly lower than the F-22 in US service. So, time will tell. And on that bombshell it's time to end this, see you in the next F-22 while/praise/troll thread next week...

Kreuger flaps on a mig-29, what's next, 3x3 seat arrangement, 4 toilets and no eyebrow windows? ;) -

:megalol: Nicer concept though, remember the one with a battlecruiser with 3d decks and such? mmm, well, maybe in 10 years ;) -

They painted the R-77s red that were used for rocket motor tests. I would say it's either an in-service su-30M or a su-35, or did that one have straight tailfins? -
I was about to make some transformer related joke, but I feel too shitty and emotional to do so, so please be understanding. Ok, I'm gonna hit the rack before I get suicidal or even more emo :\

Dude, that pic is straight evil, it's like a direct connection (DC++) to Hell \m/

Dude, I smoked 6 of your doobies, wtf is all this whining about? All I've heard was that it was some alien ship that had some warp core problems or shit, in the end it blew up (ok, in, it was an implosion) or something.

It is, the 801 zero-zero test was used in Mirror Wars ;) -
But I was talking about the guidance, who needs teh Shkval? Or is it impossible to guide a missile without that stupid CTR screeen? Can't we just designate some point, and the Vikhr will fly there, without any TV gizmos? BTW, I think the pilots ought to have little pointy beards and behave even more evil than Bender  And we need a torture booth with a Sidewinder sticking out through the top :P

Yet he is right, real ejections are devastating, even now, especially on 'Western' ejection seats, though it is changing with the Mb. Mk.16. The maximum G-load with modern (1980/85-now) western seats is about 20G, the trainers go up to about 12G, the difference is that a training seat (with pneumatics and a 'long' tower) has lower G onset rates, which translates in less stress. The emphasis in current western ejection seats is saving lives at all costs, no matter the condition of the pilot, the K-36 focused on survival AND reduction of injuries and a swift return to flying condition of the ejectee. Even so, the G load on the vanilla, K-36D series 2 seat ranges from 14 to 22G (14 in low speed, 22 in 750+ kts ejections). The seat also has a longer burning rocket motor which allowes it to deal with sinkrates better than the ACES II, and twice as good (judging by the full chute deployment altitude) as the MB. Mk.14 NACES seat. To put it simply, you can get whacked by a big hammer, or you can let 4 smaller hammers whack your head with gradual force increments. (ok, bad comparison). The forces build up more quickly in 'our' ejection seats, while the russian seats have a long built-in parachute delay compared to our seats, this all is ofcourse about the old K-36, not the digital ones you see in the Su-30MK series and other 'modern' Russian and Indian planes. Training ejections are like hitting a wall on your bicycle at low speed, while real ejeections are something like hitting a solid wall at 60 km/h in your car, they are both collisions, but the forces build up at different rates. -
Ganja vaporizers? :megalol:

Will the reactive armor be functional? So if we hit it with an older generation missile or FFAR it will have little damage (low hit point count)? Can we shoot the driver in the Kamaz? 30mm autocannon will punch through anything, no armored glass in the world can stop it.

I know I smell patriotism in here, but heck, I can handle bad smells (even though I hate them ;)). But I suppose you're right, if his research is still classified, then it gotta be some good stuff. Only thing I know about Tesla is that he made that wireless power transfer mast, nothing more. Never knew about the relation to the Tunguaska incident, but heck, even if extraterrestial life is being covered up, I don't much care, as it's not my concern. What I do hate is that current physics are regarded as 'the way it is', didn't we learn from the past, or is this some self-confident arrogance emerging from the scientific community? True we understand more than we did 200 years ago, but it's silly to think that is the way it is, and if we can't measure it it doesn't exist. Nice thread, keep up the good, polite, interesting threads. :)

So what, Star Trek was ahead of its time too, so what? We have communicators and hyposprays now, teleportation (I know, not a true transporter, and not a cheap trick to not have to do shuttle scenes) is being worked on, PDAs, and some other minor technologies (flat screens). Same with Nicola Tesla, UFOs and the Tunguska explosion, we will know, but not in our lifetime, so be either a UFO-geek or accept that you're not allowed to know certain things.

:notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: Wow, very, very nice pics, those from the su-34 are new. Guess I should use my Russian more to statisfy my ejection seat fetish. That bort 801 ejection was used in the 'Zerkalniye Voiny' movie (about a new Su-30 that gets hijacked etc). The interesting part is that 801 is an airworthy airframe! It's not some dedicated ejection test/stress test airframe, it actually flies :) I love the way the gear struts compress when the seat fires, you get the Lowrider idea I have ;) On that page, there is a nice pic of a kh-25 doing a nice high alpha pitch-up for some good old fashioned lofting. Can we *whine whine ED F-15 amraam western aircraft hypocracy talk*? :P Looks like a Х25-МЛ... This is the way teh R-77 should look like: -

Why not in a payware web add-on? Like 10$ for WAFM and AFM on the hog (so WAFM for A-10 weapons only). -
Any plausible theories on ball lightning out there yet? I have my own: transdimensional shifts of electric current that pass through from another dimension for some reason, held together by a strong EM field (photon torpedo with plasma to put it simply). :P I have great ideas while baked :P really fascinating those ball lightnings, it almost seems like they are intelligent, maybe the 'hand of God' (aka alien lifeforms), or some complex phenomena beyond our current understanding of physics. Please son't turn this into a 'F-15 rulez, my country is teh best' kind of thread, this is really, really interesting.

Su-27 & Porpoise/bouncy landings
Force_Feedback replied to chrno120's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
But I clearly remember the hydraulic cylinders going up and down, a la X-plane (i.e. crappy, but better than nothing). It wasn't proper, but the wheels were better than we got now in lomac, ecept for the AFM drag queens. -
Su-27 & Porpoise/bouncy landings
Force_Feedback replied to chrno120's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Remember that video with the su-33 with proper landing moddeling (ok, it looked X-plane-ish: lots of travel, but eh, it was ok), the one where you had black wingtip smoke and a Cobra, immediately followed by a landing? So it was there at one moment during beta testing (as was the AFM for the su-25), but it got scrapped for some reason, and we have flanker-ish landings now :( -
Who cares, those shaders will bring lomac to a grinding stop, I'll disable them anyways, don't need a stuttery chopper AND ground vehicles to mess it up further :P. Nah, BS is great, and I mean it, I love BS talk ;)

It's not really new, it's the cause for people abandoning lockon for over a year. But then the oil lamp blinking and hand dropped bomb spamming started...
