Absolutely! Let's have some late 80's early 90's action! It's apparently controversial to have this opinion, but I'm down for achieving balance by simulating a period when things were actually balanced.
-
Thank's, also it's cool to knida see how it works. Off topic but honestly I think the visual detecton has been nerfed a little too much. But it is nice to ba able to be sneaky.

So I ran the experiment. You stated that if placed on a CAP mission that the AI will react at a range of 400mi even without radar. They do not, and they can be hidden from at much much closer ranges. So there is a definite detection logic at play. You go on and on about scripting, and zone heights. Intense scripting is exactly the thing I would like this to get away from. A simple detected in zone trigger would be useful to cause actions based on when or if a detection is made. As for zone heights that isn't as good of workaround as your implying. You can be much higher in mountains and still be missed. I I don't disagree that with a crap lode of scripting you can kinda simulate detection in zone actions. But thats what I'm asking ED to try to improve. So based on observations of AI behavior there is definitely a detection logic at play. Since that is the case then it would seem actions could be triggered by it. So my wish to ED still stands. Can we get detected in zone triggers? I apologize that this offends you so much, but i believe it could make the game experience even better then it is. I don't see how more options are a bad thing.

So obviously your so convinced of your own rightness, even tuough your very first statement was wrong, that there is no amont of discussion can have any effect. Fine whatever, I don't really see why you would want to script everything, but hay. Kf something like this becomes a thing don't use it. I've been making missions for a long time in DCS. Well i started in LOMAC but hay. I use the CAP function all the time. And I can assure you if you staying out of line of sight they don't see you. I've snuck up behind Migs, and warbirds several times as of late. I've low leveled into flack batteries, and been out before they could react. And ive definitely hid from CAP's there was a time when they were omniscient, but I believe this was listed as fixd back in 2020. As for organic intercepts, place an uncontroled group, with a start trigger. Make it a CAP, and give them the zone to engage in. Set a teigger to once, part of group/coalition detected in zone, and fly. If your low leveling into a target, then accidentally brake cover, and get spotted, then they will go active, start up and launch. If your still being detected they should go starit for you. Ok I'm done. Sure I don't know anything, and am totally wrong, and this is a pointless suggestion. But hay, others seem to agree it would be a cool functionality, and maybe, just maybe ED will too, fingers crossed.

I didn't even think about that. But yeah low level in and do a prebrief HARM, or JDAM strike on an EW. Although that might set off the trigger, and IRL might result is alert aircraft scrambling anyway. But also maybe not. Depending on Coms. But yeah surgical strikes would be much more interesting.
-
So yes I would like Alert interceptors to act as they are intended IRL. And all that scripting is exactly why I would like a simple yes you've been spotted, no you haven't trigger. As for how they detect, it seems ok to me. I've been practicing notching the AI lately, and if you stay in the notch, and stay below the EW's line of sight they loose you. If you don't notch, or get in the EW's LOS, then they reacquire you. You can have a CAP up and on a search then engaged in zone, and do the same thing. But there is no way to organically do alert aircraft. Which is exactly what a point interceptor like the Mig-21 would be doing. Again, I like my missions to be as organic as possible, and on the whole the AI dose a decent job. This would just alow for more organic, and less scripted alert aircraft.

I couldn't agree more.

Aircraft before the 1993 tech explosion for DCS
FlankerKiller replied to Pikey's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Shit, I accidentally ment to include it. Its a day one buy for me. I love the C-101, and can't wait to see what they do with somthing that's got more teeth. -
Where, because I've looked and never found it. There ia a part of Coalition in zone, but that is far from the same thing.
-
Now that ED has a working multi crew AI, maybe they will resurrect this module. I would love to see them fallow Heatblure's lead on this. Maybe release a late F-4E, and then maybe the Iranian verint, and an early Navy model, and Air Force model. But if i had to pick it would be the late E. It's an iconic aircraft. It would fit in really well with the M2000C, the F-1, the F-14, the Mig-21, the Mig-23, and of corse the Hind. Also while not exactly accurate, it would give us a pretty good representation of the Iranian air force.

Live Airfields: ground crew and other stuff
FlankerKiller replied to SkHiTech's topic in DCS Core Wish List
It really would be. The whole start up is pretty scripted. But I would settle for just a crew chief marshaling me out, and preferably back in. But it would be great to see AGE, and POL do there thing. Like I said its pretty scripted, and living airfields would go a long way for immersion. -
+1 for both civilian AI, and spawner objects.
-
Can we get a Part of Coalition Detected in Zone trigger. It would be really cool to have alert flights standing by that would scramb if we screw up our low level. Or just more organically scrambled when we enter the target area.
-
Would it be possible to set the "Bingo" fuel level for a flight in the mission editor? As a flight lead this would be agreed on before a mission, and it would be nice to set it for flight members. Far to often the AI wingmen call bingo, then almost immediately crash. It would be really cool if they made it home. Also would be nice to set up for AI flights.

Aircraft before the 1993 tech explosion for DCS
FlankerKiller replied to Pikey's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Honestly the release of the MI-24P has made realize just how much I agree with the OP. It's just such a cool jet. In like five years the late cold war looks like it'll be looking pretty good. A-6, A-7, F-8, F-14, Mig-21, Mig-23, Mig-29. Sombody really needs to do an SU-22/17, and or a Mig-27. I would love to see an SU-24, but know that its unlikely. I love actually having to drive the weapons to the target. And the SLAM, and Walleye are just so cool to use. -

Thanks for getting this pack on topic. -

Umm, off topic but how exactly do you "JAM" and INS guided weapon? I mean you could kick off a Kesler event and deny space assets. But i doubt you could jam the GPS system, or secure data link. And these things have an INS capability too. Its less accurate, but not by that much. -

I don't actually believe this is there motivation. If it was why did they have Belsimtek, and WWII aircraft. ED exists because of military, and commercial contracts. I believe they do the most complicated, and modern things they can as a way to show off. -
I just downloaded this thing, and it seems awesome. I do question the accuracy of the FM, that role rate though. And departures seem a little to violent. But it seems on trak to be a really spectacular module. With that said is there any possibility it will be added as one of the free aircraft in DCS World? It woukd be a really good candidate I think. Lets you get a feel for air to ground, and even some air to air. It has interesting weapons, Walleye and Srike. And it can takoff, and land on boats.
-
Not to get off topic, but that would be pretty awesome. It might just bring over some pure flight sim guys. Woud be cool if it had an autopilot so the player could jump to the back. And of course muiti crew. Seems like alot for a mod. But some of these mods seem really in depth.

planes that you would like to see in DCS?
FlankerKiller replied to Erich Alfred Hartmann's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Mig-23MLA Mig-29A Mig-17 Vietnam variant SU-22 late cold war SU-25 full fidelity IL-2 Late war, why not F-4 mega module. Early Vietnam USN, and USAF, late USAF E model, and one late export model, preferably one that has a hud, and can sling AMRAAMs. A-7E and D model F-111 Desert Storm model F-117 Desert Storm model, a boy can dream F-100 fighter, and early SEAD variant F-84 F-80 F9 Panther Seriously why was Korea not flashed out. F-8 Crusader P-38 The Corsair to be released B-25 light Bomber, and attack variants. I want to fire the 75mm cannon, and I want the level bomb. Plus it seems to fit DCS better. T-34 from the 70's Maverick started somewhere. L-4 Grasshopper, with historical armament modifications, and the ability to act as a FFDM A late cold war AH-1, maybe even as Israeli version. Definitely one that is Tow equipped with a 20mm cannon. Preferably single engine. A late cold war UH-60, Again Desert Storm, or maybe the Blackhawk down model AH-64A Desert Storm model. AH-6 Little Bird, Blackhawk Down incident Mirage III Mirage V Mirage F1 IAI Kaffir JU-87 JU-88 ME-110/ and the night fighter variant ME-410 ME-262 -
Totally agree. One the airfield radars should work. They do IRL, and honestly any radar with a radio can be an EWR. It would add realism to airfield operations, and be essential to simulating an ATC. Also agree Bluefor needs an EWR bad.
-
A complete cockpit retexture. RWR. Maybe .50 caliber door guns, if they were carried. Seeing the troops in back. FM updates. Make it as real as possible. Some version of ED's new AI. It would be fun to be able ro be a door gunner, or co pilot. Also it would be nice to be able to select targets. Make sling loads actually be a logistics node. So we can actually rearm ground forces. Same for fuel tanks. The UH-1H was in Desert Storm. It would be really nice to have that one ingame. I would also like CSAR to be implanted organically into the coming dynamic campaign. That and maybe some kind of medevac script. Like the ability to land near a group of infantry, and pickup anyone with less then 50% or 25% health remaining. Of course these last two would apply to all the helos.

VKB GLADIATOR NXT - Entry Level Taken to the NXT Level
FlankerKiller replied to UIV's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
Yeah, except you know crap quality control, and horrible product support. Sorry after having the tear down my VKB NXT, and glue the magnet inplace myself, and giving a how to was they're solution, I won't be buying any VKB products ever again. They also owe me $31. That's my price as and A&P mechanic. They haven't pulled their inventory, haven't sent out replacement sticks, with prepaid postage to send the defective one back in. No that just expect the user to repair a known defect.
