I do think we should make a onetime payment for DCS world. This would create revenue for core game features, and incentivize ED to improve the core of the simulation in order to sell new copies. As for including all paid modules, you can't. Several companies make modules, and they get paid by selling those modules. Also if you bundled everything into one it would be prohibitively expensive.

Fire propagation would be cool here too. If one tank goes, its likely to take others with it. Having a way to do that in sim would be cool. That and longer burning fires/smoke. With the campaign engine coming, wouldn't it be cool to fly over the smoldering remains of the previous days target.

Umm, KA-50, Mi-8, Mi-28? I my understanding is that the no modern Russian aircraft, applied to modern Russian aircraft. The Mig-29S/A/G in DCS is not modern. And that is the model I'm talking about. Those jets are from the 80's. If I third party could get the FM right, and the model, all work that is done already by ED. So I addressed my post to ED. Honestly I could care less if a truly modern model is ever made. I'm more interested in the older jets.

Placeble Working(having spawn points) Auxiliary Air Strip
FlankerKiller replied to Baco's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Not just cool, the Viggin, AV8B, and Mig-29s can't really be used properly from fixed airbase's. It would be sweet to have a point we could place on the ground, and give a take off, landing direction, and length. Being able to make a mission where Viggins are launching from roads, and you have no clue where. -
So I finally made it back around to flying some of the flaming cliffs jets. I've loved the Mig-29 since I was 12, and built a model of it. It was my favorite of the Lockon jets, and I spent time in it until i saw the Pfm on the F-15/Su-27. I have flown it a bit since it got it's own PFM, but this weekend I finally gave it some time. I'm blown away, after a weekend hunting big cats, admittedly against the Ai, I'm thoroughly in love! Its truly great to not be able to relay on FBW flight controls, and powerful radar to make up for my shortcomings. To work with a ground station for SA, and evade the Aim-54s until I can get close and work with the R-73s. What a hotrod of the air. But after all that I feel the experience was lacking. I want to tune the radios, to home in on a RBSN station, to click the damn cockpit. So ED I would gladly pay for an upgrade to the Mig-29S. I know you can't do new jets, but this one isn't new. I can't be the only one whow would gladly pay for a full fidelity Mig-29S, and pay full price. So please, please consider making this great jet fully modeled. The A would be great too. P.S. I bagged that big cat too.

Yes, I would buy this thing on day one. -
Why I am unlikely to buy from DCS in the future...

I can't agree more. I would absolutely love an SU-30. I say that one because its multi role, and would counter the Hornet, and Viper well. Maybe we will see a full fidelity J-11. Slightly older, and I would pay full price for a Mig-29S. I just want to click that cockpit. An Su-34 would be a day one buy, or even an Su-24. -

I definitely feel where the OP is coming from. The F-18 is my favorite modern jet IRL, so of course it's my main ride. But unless something really interesting hits, and I can't think of what's out there that would really get me salivating, I probably won't buy another modern jet. What I would/will buy is more WWII aircraft, and more early cold war aircraft. This is of course providing that there is sufficient improvement to the period assets, damage modeling, and Ai behavior. The aircraft from this time are fairly simple to learn, but all definitely have there own character. I would also buy a fully modeled armor module, from any and all eras. And of course helicopter warfare could use a serious revisit. But as far as modern multi role jets go I'm kinda done. I got the Viper on sale to support ED, but doubt I'll log much time in it, ever. I can see some of the European birds, but I suspect most will pick a favorite, and fly that. I know that's how it'll be for me, and that favorite will be the Hornet. -
So...its a 90's era pod. Thanks for agreeing. The signal strength is probably more dependent on the weapon then the pod, but I could be wrong. Also it's still a much older pod. The U2 trick would be cool, but again I imagine the transmitter on the U2 was pretty damn powerful. Look I dont know the exact range of this system, and I bet you don't ether. But saying the DL on the JF-17 is better is kind of a no brainer. Again its 15 to 20 years newer. And it was retired in 2000, the SLAM, so limited capabilities seem like a given. I would think it had more then 25mi transmission range as well, and maybe it does, and will in game. But it's still an old PGM, so I wouldn't expect 21 century capabilities. I don't consider this to be a drawback. I love the older stuff, and would love a Desert Storm F-18. Even with a shittier DL pod.
-
Well I ment the NATO intervention. So late 90's. But yes you got my point. It's a 90's era weapon. Compared to 21st century weapons its gonna come up short.
-
Well JF-17 is like 20 years newer. So that might be a contributing factor. The Walleye DL is pre Desert Storm era. All of the JF-17s systems are 2005-2010 era. I suspect we have better DL now, if we still use man in the loop weapons at all. The SLAM, and Walleye fit better on a desert storm-Bosnia era F-18C.

So reading through this, I think many of you are missing some point. One big one is, this is an old missile. It was developed in 1990, and retired in 2000. Its inaccurate, because it was pretty inaccurate. Although 40 to 50 meters from 50 miles away was pretty damn accurate for the time. In order to be pinpoint it needs terminal guidance. Unfortunately that means getting a bit closer. But I can still stay out of range of short and medium range SAM. Also if you can ripple them, and guide each one in from a different direction. That seems like a pretty good way to overcome a heavily defended target. Still it's an older system, and if you have JDAMs, and JSWOs its probably better to use those. If like me you like the late cold war era it's going to be a lot of fun.

One, I can't agree more. I was really hoping to see DCS climb up the complexity latter through the ages of air combat, but alas that was not to be, and honestly I can't say I'm complaining. But IRL there was some serious air to air during the cold war, and it would be pretty sweet to get to simulate some of that. There's just enough in game to wet the appetite, but there is room for much much more. Personally I would love to see some attack jet/medium bomber action. Although I do think this is an area that was also pretty neglected IRL. Personally I would love more nukes in game, but dream on. But back to topic, after seeing the Mig-19 I really wish Razbam, and other third parties would focus more effort in the Korean - Vietnam war. There was a ton of air combat during this period, and you actually have to maneuver with your opponent. But you get early radar ranging gun sights, and even early Fox-2's. So yes I would love to see a Mirage 3, F-100, F-102, Mig-17. So yes, I +1 the OP.

If I remove the inner pylons, the jet has a slight role to the right. I believe that the drag, and maybe weight from the right pylon is still present.

I for some reason believe we are getting the Qaud fifty on a half track. But I'm also aware that there were lots of singal water cooled .5 caliber anti air guns used by the U.S. I'm also aware that Britain used radar directed flack against the V-1s. Can we please get some smaller caliber AA WWII units.
-
Radar was probably one of the most important technologies of WWII. By the late war it was in widespread use, and was a major part of air defense. I do believe it was even used to direct flack in the end. So where is it? EWR is in game, and DCS is the only sim I can think of that can properly model the radar, EW environment of the late war in Europ.
-
This seems like a small thing, but I believe it is sorely missed in DCS. Those cruisers and destroyers do act as surface based EWR in real life. As there are definitely EWR units in game, I can not for the life of me understand why the ships can't guide me to a target the same way an AWCS or EWR does.

My idea for improvements and increasing player count
FlankerKiller replied to mastershotgun's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Personally I would love to see actual strategic briefings for, and results/consequences of, missions in a dynamic campaign. Your supply ship gets hammered, and you dont get those fancy AIM-120Cs, and instead have to make due with Sidwinders, and Sparrows. Your fuel supply gets whacked, and now you can't fly as many jets. I also wish for a more scalable Ai. Maybe that moves the sliders to the right a bit with each successful mission. That way when you lose that squadron mate, you lose a more valuable team mate, and maybe have to make due with a less experienced ally. Honestly the OPs wish could be broken down into a great many smaller wishes. I interpret as basically a desire for the dynamic campaign to give me a reasion to care about this mission succeeding or failing. And that's pretty reasonable in my estimation. -
Yes, improved damage modeling all around needs to happen in DCS. Vehicles especially. At least an ARMA 1 level for vehicles, but I would love something more detailed. Seeing turrants come off, and vehicles flip would be awesome. Plus actually having to target parts of a bridge/ building. Also I would love to see fire, and propagating fire in, and between, buildings be a thing. Even seeing partial collapses be a ting would be freaking awesome. I dont think a flight sim can ever have the level of detailed as a FPS, but the damage models we have are from 2000.
-
Or some third party could take on the task. It's a wish list. Yes, I think ED should focus on polishing up DCS world a bit. But those advances will apply across the board, and WWI units, maps, and campaigns would be plugged in. Honestly I would pay for several of the mod assets right now, and asset packs seem to be a niche wide open to third parties. I know how some feel about them. But the pay for what you want model seems to be the way it's going to go. Plus that would allow for growth while keeping ED from shouldering the load.

I would love to have a European attack jet in game.

Agreed, I'll be buying that one on day one.
