On further troubleshooting, it looks like this only occurs when I try to write a profile to 'All'. Maybe there is a bad path defined for one of the module kneeboard locations?
-
Was there ever a solution to the "value cannot be null" error? I see a few other people have experienced it when they try to change profiles. For what it's worth, I'm running in Admin mode, my DCS installation is in the standard location, and the config process has been done correctly as far as I can tell.

Hey Skatezilla, I'm still having issues with launching SRS from the app. Currently I'm getting an unhandled exception error, "The system cannot find the file specified." I've correct located the SRS directory, and the launcher button isn't greyed out. I've unchecked "launch as administrator" for srs, and added it to DCS Updater in case it was a permissions issue. I've also tried moving the SRS dir to C:\. I've double checked the config file, it reflects the current SRS directory, and updates when I change it. Other external apps, like TrackIR launch without a problem. Windows 10, DCS OB, latest SRS build, AMD processor, if that's any help. Thanks!

If I didn't work 4 days on and 4 days off, I'd be there. I just need to find a squadron that trains on an 8 day cycle...... You guys have some awesome training resources up on YT, I'd love to see some operational videos to get a sense of how it comes together.

Hi Skatezilla, thanks for all the work on your fine app. Part of my interest in it is to use it to auto-start TrackIR and SRS. TrackIR seems to work fine, but I'm getting exception errors with SRS, stating that it's unable to find the file. I've correctly located the directory. TS3 and Tacview also works fine after locating the directory. I've noticed that the check box/radio button doesn't seem to be sticky for SRS, which makes me think maybe it's failing to save config info? I've tried combinations of running your updater and SRS as administrator just in case it's a UAC issue. Also, and this is totally a minor issue, the tooltips for Tacview and SRS are both incorrect (they refer to TrackIR). Thanks for any help you can give me

Suggestion/Request: Have Jester Call Out Energy States
Caput_58 replied to Bearfoot's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
In his book, Dave Baranek mentions giving his pilot speed callouts while dogfighting so he doesn't have to take his eyes off the enemy. I'd love to see that implemented so those sneaky hornets with their fancy JHMCS won't have an edge on me in energy awareness. -
I have two theories on this situation. One, HB can't comment, because saying "No, we're still waiting on ED and getting very frustrated." will only poison their relationship with ED. Two, ED intends to rework the missile guidance code, but it's all wrapped up with the implementation of TWS for the Hornet, or at very least will be implemented by the same dev when he's done with TWS. ED has been improving a bunch of long broken/simplified DCS systems as they implement stuff for the hornet, so maybe missile datalink and control logic is part of what is making Hornet TWS take so damn long. My followup question (that HB also probably can't answer) is "Will we see changes in stores drag anytime soon?". My understanding is that the Tomcat doesn't sees a decreased drag penalty from the AIM54's it carries in the tunnel, but that DCS models stores drag as a fixed value, be it on the pylon, semi-recessed in the plane, or in the air.
-
Would you ever consider adding plane based configuration files? What I want for triggering radio 1 and 2 in the Tomcat is different than what I want in the Hornet. Likewise, I'd like the outputs to be for different ears between the two. It's only a little thing, but you've pretty much already added every other feature I could think of. This continues to be the best mod for improving DCS. Thanks for all your work.

I've been having bad stuttering problems with 1.5.9 when I connect to the GAW server. Testing with the ATIS, more than half of any transmission is lost. First noticed in the F-14B, but reproducible with the AWACS console as well. Rolling back to 1.5.8 fixes it. Pertinent part of the log below: 019-03-24 22:26:07.3327 | Ciribob.DCS.SimpleRadio.Standalone.Client.Network.TCPVoiceHandler | Failed to decode audio from Packet System.Exception: Decoding failed - InvalidPacket at FragLabs.Audio.Codecs.OpusDecoder.Decode(Byte[] inputOpusData, Int32 dataLength, Int32& decodedLength, Boolean reset) in D:\Dropbox\Dev\DCS\DCS-SRS\OpusWrapper\OpusDecoder.cs:line 126 at Ciribob.DCS.SimpleRadio.Standalone.Client.ClientAudioProvider.AddClientAudioSamples(ClientAudio audio) at Ciribob.DCS.SimpleRadio.Standalone.Client.Network.TCPVoiceHandler.UdpAudioDecode() 2019-03-24 22:26:07.3607 | Ciribob.DCS.SimpleRadio.Standalone.Client.Network.TCPVoiceHandler | Failed to decode audio from Packet System.Exception: Decoding failed - InvalidPacket at FragLabs.Audio.Codecs.OpusDecoder.Decode(Byte[] inputOpusData, Int32 dataLength, Int32& decodedLength, Boolean reset) in D:\Dropbox\Dev\DCS\DCS-SRS\OpusWrapper\OpusDecoder.cs:line 126 at Ciribob.DCS.SimpleRadio.Standalone.Client.ClientAudioProvider.AddClientAudioSamples(ClientAudio audio) at Ciribob.DCS.SimpleRadio.Standalone.Client.Network.TCPVoiceHandler.UdpAudioDecode()

Something does feel different. I just flew around dropping bombs into the ocean (guaranteed flat surface, known QFE). Even with my head up at ridiculous angle, I can't see the initial impact point until I'm at 120m altitude or below, at a very unlikely M1.04. I don't argue that this is the point the bombs are landing, I just wonder if something is off with the ballistics or parachute timing. There also seems to be a discontinuity in the calculations, the pipper makes a sudden jump around 30-50m altitude.. not that you should be dropping there anyway, but it's still strange. Finally, as a note to others like me who are experimenting, sometimes the bombs get stuck and don't want to release no matter the parameters.. in that case, you can just cycle the weapon selector out and back to PLAN.

I'm seeing this too, though it had been a long time since I flew the Viggen, so I'm not sure when it changed. I'm afraid to use the brakes at all on rollout since it ends in a spinout half the time. Seems way too unstable, especially for a tricycle gear. Also, every spinout leads to popped tires. You can do a repair, but because the aircraft it sitting lower, the new tires start slightly below the runway, and slightly stuck. It makes for a tricky takeoff run.

Viggen and CombatFlite - need help with data cartridge and kneeboard
Caput_58 replied to Hoggorm's topic in Bugs and Problems
Haven't messed with the online tiles option yet, mostly because I've been too busy planning and flying Viggen sorties. I can't say enough how game changing this tool is. Would it be possible to make the flight plans generated for a viggen default to having QFE in the notes, instead of TACAN? Also, would it be possible to make the default cartridge export directory stick to the appropriate one in Saved Games? If you save a .cf, it switches the directory back. I've put a windows shortcut to jump from the combat flite directory to the viggen one, but that's a bit of a crude work around. I guess the same request would probably apply to exporting png's, but I haven't played with those yet. Thanks again! -
Viggen and CombatFlite - need help with data cartridge and kneeboard
Caput_58 replied to Hoggorm's topic in Bugs and Problems
I can confirm that all waypoints on showing up as targets, but it looks like this might be a Viggen bug, the cartridge ini file looks right. And I definitely agree with Hoggorm that higher zoom would be really nice, though failing that, I think I'll build a library of easily recognized nav points pulled from F10 map. A few little things aside, I'm really loving CombatFlite.. it's brought me back to Viggen again. -
4K resolution menu unclickable after update to DCS 2.5.3.21444 Open Beta
Caput_58 replied to JumpinK's topic in General Bugs
Getting same problem in 4k, though it's intermittent. Not sure if it's a windows scaling issue or not. -
That's pretty consistent with what I've seen too.

Does the "Your shipment is confirmed" notice mean mine has shipped? I also notice it includes the language "We've accepted your order and we're getting it ready". I wasn't sure if that means there would be an additional status change at shipment. Order #1021 here. Thanks!

Hey guys, I've been playing some of FALCAW's excellent conversion of the Desert Mirage campaign, and I've got a few questions. First, it looks like the initial internal fuel is wrong. Hornets are spawning with 65% fuel, which results in AI wingman flaming out. Changing the fuel for all the hornet entries in db_loadouts.lua to 4875 seems to address the problem. Looks like the same error might be in Caucasus conversion as well, where fuel is set to 3165. Haven't tested that yet due to the Caucasus problems. Also, do I understand correctly that comms are still broken in multiplayer? I understand this is broken on ED's side, but is there a better work around than loading every mission in editor prior to play? Can it be assigned again at time=1 by a trigger or script? Will easy radio act as a work around? Finally, I like that the relevant freqs are automatically assigned to Ch. 1-4, but I'd really love if they could also be assigned to the same channels of the hornet's right side radio. I've looked through the luas some, but can't figure it out. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

an Arduino USB HID controller, composite USB controller
Caput_58 replied to overpro's topic in Home Cockpits
Hey guys, I know this is somewhat of a dead thread, but I have a question that I hope someone might be able to help me with. I've build a button box using overpro's excellent software and a mega. Everything works, *except* that windows identifies the two devices as a VPC Mongoose. I recently became the owner of the same, and having 3 input devices with the same labeling seems ridiculous. I'm not sure where windows got this idea, but it's pretty resistant to my attempts to change it. I've even gone as far as to reflash the hex file. I assume this is a case of Windows finding a certified driver file that it thinks is a good match, and insisting on using it. Any thoughts? -
Aluminium Joystick/HOTAS table mounts - Monster Tech
Caput_58 replied to meisterolsen's topic in For Sale
Any news on that flight stand review? I'm trying not to be impulsive and pick between the table mounts and the stands until I've heard at least one opinion on the stand. Thanks! -
Another bump. I've just spent a good hour trying to troubleshoot E/W reversed coordinates on Normandy. I'm sure there is a way, because as others have said, airfield coordinates are storable.
-
Great tool! Why DCS doesn't have a built in flight planning tool (that's usable in MP), I'll never know. I'll weight that I'd love to see the ability to draw threat circles, but it's probably only worthwhile if they are saveable between sessions. Falcon BMS allows something similar, and I've always found it to be pretty handy. For that matter, I'd love to see premade waypoints for all the airports, as well as the ability to save additional custom points, so that you can precisely mark and recall airfields, INS update points, and the location of improvised fields. But even if you don't add another thing, I'm very grateful for this tool.

Aluminium Joystick/HOTAS table mounts - Monster Tech
Caput_58 replied to meisterolsen's topic in For Sale
Flight Stand? Could anyone offer a review of the Flight Stand? It seems like everyone is getting the desk mounts. The Flight Stand seems like it would be more stable, since it wouldn't rely on my Ikea quality desk. It also seems like it would work a bit better with stick extensions. And yet there are tons of desk mount reviews out there, and not a single Flight Stand review. Is there something I'm missing here? -
Any progress update Quaggles? I'm dying for that mission planner, and trying to time my next major revisit to the Viggen with its release.
