  1. Maybe it is accurate, but when the result in the sim is that I cannot read a primary flight instrument, I am not happy with that solution. Sims have limitations and sometimes concessions need to be done to better reproduce reality.
  2. That is one of the mods that I found, the other one (less aggressive) being Brickdust's Drunken Sailor. I guess I will have to try the DIY route.
  3. Thanks for your replies, guys. I see that there is more to it than initially expected. I hope that HB updates the manual at some point clearly explaining this switch.
  4. I am unable to see the altimeter drum digits in daylight most of the time when it is in the shadow. Unless I turn on the lights or zoom in. Is there a mod that increases the contrast of the altimeter inner drum digits? I found a couple of cockpit mods but they both change the label positions and fonts for VR. I was looking for something less radical. Thanks a lot
  5. While the textures get fixed it would be interesting to know what each of the three positions of the switch are. Any link or info about that? Thanks
  6. Thanks BonerCat. I found the option to make Jester silent under Crew Contract. Actually I tried to look for all these issues before posting, but I didn't find anything. Sorry for that.
  7. I see, thanks a lot. Will try that next time.
  8. Thanks for your reply, Draconus. You mean that after reloading the gun I need to manually set the new contents in that indicator and that will also fix the HUD quantity?
  9. Yesterday I was back in the F-14 after some time in a multiplayer training environment with some friends and I noticed the following problems: At some point I went to the tanker for refuel and Jester just kept talking as if I was constantly failing to connect, whithout any pause whatsoever between messages; even when I was actually connected and taking fuel! Later I rearmed at an airfield. I was down to about 300 rounds of gun, so filled it up. When I tried to use the gun again, it was still displaying a "3", instead of "5" on the HUD. But I could still use it for a while when it reached "0", so I guess I had it rearmed, just the quantity was not updated in the HUD. Also noticed that after rearming, the external fuel tanks were not filled up (I landed with them empty). I could fix that rearming twice: first removing the tanks and then adding them again. Thanks for your help!
  10. They definitely fixed the 10% dead range at idle in the throttle axis.
  11. Looks like the throttle axis has changed. The AB no longer matches my detent and I cannot stop the engines moving my throttles to CUTOFF, probably because my IDLE is not idle anymore. Perhaps they finally fixed this axis, but I have not really checked it; I will have to redo my curve.
  12. IIRC, "no mark" means that there is no smoke marking the target. You probably need to report IP inbound and eventually ask him to laser on for the JTAC to start lasing. Keep checking the radio menu, there is a lot of talking to get the laser...
  13. I also was asking myself the same yesterday while working on my checklist and procedures doc. After watching a few land based videos on YT, in all of them taxi was started in oversweep. Only saw an instance approaching at the runway and they were already configured for takeoff. So probably they are configured during taxi and then the before takeoff checklist is done. That is a common way of doing things in airliners too: configure, then perform a challenge checklist. On a carrier, of course the wings were configured on the catapult.
  14. Probably related to this: I have noticed that once you designate a target on the Litening, you cannot activate WPDSG until after pressing Undesignate to remove the Litening target.
  15. I have found that the Maverick F will correctly uncage to the designated target in the TGP when it is in narrow field of view. When in wide field of view it will move its seeker to about 500m of the designated point. See attached picture. I am also unable to change FOV when uncaged to the TGP designated point. Undesignating allows both to move the seeker and change FOV.
  16. Legacy. When the Hornet was developed there was no AMRAAM. It had a 3 way switch: fwd Sparrow, press Sidewinder, back Gun. With the introduction of the AMRAAM, the hat was replaced allowing right for the new missile. The old logic was not changed to avoid confusion. Imagine flying an AMRAAM capable F-18 one day and a non converted the following day with the weapon selection logic changed...
  17. Wow, I am astonished. After such a long time and no feedback I didn't expect this to be ever fixed, but reading today's changelog I tried it again and all three bugs that I reported and were merged into this thread seem fixed. Separation looks fine, all bombs drop correctly (mixing both on VER and directly on pylons) and the bombs bracket the aiming point. Tried it in CCIP and in auto. Picture from an Auto run, 6 x Mk.82, 500 ft interval, aiming at the runway crossing... just perfect! Thanks a lot!
  18. 8 JSOW-A to kill just one vehicle... that is why I don't bother with most CBU in DCS, only the CBU-97/105 work.
  19. Another option: connect cell phone/tablet/mp3 player to computer line in with 3.5mm audio cable.
  20. Happened to me in the rocket training mission.
  21. Is there a way to visually designate a target for the JDAM via HUD or HMD? Eg like the AUTO mode? Thanks
  22. It has been a while since ED officially talked about this: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3827966&postcount=186 Is there any further info about the limit date for spending Bonus Points and when the new Loyalty Program will start? Thanks!
  23. Same for me: rounds systematically fall short when the target is pulling g. When it is flying at 1g or in light turns it is OK.
  24. LOL, it is amazing how every time I share some piece of info that I read in books, with pilots themselfs explaining it someone says that it is not true. Happened with the ODS F-15 CAP configurations with 3 fuel tanks, with the ripple bombing in the F-18, with the uncage AIM-9 tactics etc. Well, if you have any interest in reading it by yourself, get the book "Debrief" by Craig Brown, page 177. It is the story where (then) Cpt Hwang explains how he got his famous double kill in HDTWS with two AMRAAM and how he got criticized for failing to go STT inside of 10MN. So those were the tactics back in the day (I don't know if they have changed or not, they use to do it from time to time), that is why I used a past tense in my first statement. Anyway, there were pilots that did not follow them? Of course, and Hwang is an example. As every rule, there is always people that break them.
  25. Thanks for your reply, Maverick. I checked ACM guard DOWN (on the left), Master ARM ON (on the right), and Phoenix selected (PH in my tactical display). Reviewing the footage (luckily I recorded it) I notice A/A is also engaged for the HUD, but in the MODE/STP switch, the lower light is illuminated... that is Boresight, right?
