  1. It has been a while since ED officially talked about this: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3827966&postcount=186 Is there any further info about the limit date for spending Bonus Points and when the new Loyalty Program will start? Thanks!
  2. Same for me: rounds systematically fall short when the target is pulling g. When it is flying at 1g or in light turns it is OK.
  3. LOL, it is amazing how every time I share some piece of info that I read in books, with pilots themselfs explaining it someone says that it is not true. Happened with the ODS F-15 CAP configurations with 3 fuel tanks, with the ripple bombing in the F-18, with the uncage AIM-9 tactics etc. Well, if you have any interest in reading it by yourself, get the book "Debrief" by Craig Brown, page 177. It is the story where (then) Cpt Hwang explains how he got his famous double kill in HDTWS with two AMRAAM and how he got criticized for failing to go STT inside of 10MN. So those were the tactics back in the day (I don't know if they have changed or not, they use to do it from time to time), that is why I used a past tense in my first statement. Anyway, there were pilots that did not follow them? Of course, and Hwang is an example. As every rule, there is always people that break them.
  4. Thanks for your reply, Maverick. I checked ACM guard DOWN (on the left), Master ARM ON (on the right), and Phoenix selected (PH in my tactical display). Reviewing the footage (luckily I recorded it) I notice A/A is also engaged for the HUD, but in the MODE/STP switch, the lower light is illuminated... that is Boresight, right?
  5. This weekend I was flying as RIO and the launch button never got illuminated and I could not fire the AIM-54/7 as I was doing in previous sessions. My pilot had no problem firing them. Anything changed in this regard in the last patch? Thanks!
  6. F-15 pilots in the USAF switched to STT within 10 NM.
  7. Hi, could we have also these? I am out of two position switches. * VDI Mode Toggle * HSD Mode Toggle Thanks a lot to everybody involved in this thread!
  8. You are right, I totally missed that one. Looks like my problem is solved, thanks a lot!
  9. The GBU38 takes longer to reach the target because it glides a lot more than the GBU12. You drop it further away, that is why it takes longer to reach the target. The GBU12 has the aerodynamics of a brick.
  10. I am also having a hard time configuring the F-14 for SRS. I will explain: First of all, I use *Cold Mic* to avoid my fellow Pilot/RIO the annoyance of hearing my conversations with my family and my neighbor dog barking. Then, no matter what option I use, it is always problematic: 1. Option "default". I get the menu at each communication press, which is annoying because when enabled it messes with some keybindings and also is not aesthetic at all. 2. Option "OPEN MENU: RADIO MENU KEY FOLLOWED BY PTT" I can configure my HOTAS software* with separate actions for comms and menu as I do in every other plane, but the ICS PTT does not work and instead Jester appears. I hoped that at least this was meant to save the additional "A" Jester keybinding, but no, it does not work to select Jester options. (*) I don't have any problem using TARGET on my Warthog HOTAS to map the \ + PTT for menus. 3. Option "HIDE RADIO MENU ON PTT RELEASE" Needing to keep the PTT pressed to use the menus is not ergonomic at all and also needs special Voice Attack profiles incompatible with the rest of aircraft. 4. In any case, when enabling in SRS option "ALWAYS allow SRS Hotkeys" to bypass the F-14 SRS logic and use other keybindings, SRS will work with radios 1 and 2, but I cannot transmit in ICS through SRS radio 3 (it transmits in the last used 1 or 2 radio). So not usable either. Guys, I really appreciate your effort to reduce the number of keybindings in our HOTAS, but currently we already need them for every other aircraft and I prefer having the same consistent configuration across all of my modules. Thus I would be very happy having an additional option that disables all this SRS support so I can use it directly like in the other modules.
  11. It you are doing the AWG-9 training missions, I think they disable there the switch back to the pilot.
  12. Sorry for getting out of the box here, but obviously their main enemy in the cold war was the Tu-22M. That aircraft was designed to destroy their carriers (and thus the entire aircraft fleet including the F-14s) and the F-14 was designed to counter those Backfire and other bombers. Edit: I see that @some1 was quicker than me :P
  13. The aircraft of course. But not the HUD, right?
  14. Once I have manually fiddled with maneuvering flaps, how can I revert them to auto? Thanks, very interesting read! But I didn't really understand the DLC part. Could you rephrase the expression "flat over the ramp"? I see that you keep looking at the VDI for pitch reference. Is that instrument IFR certified? Thanks a lot!
  15. That is precisely its weirdness: for a trimmed AoA, what controls your sinkrate is the throttle and now you are supposed to do it with DLC. The stick pitch controls AoA
  16. I was also worried by the ladder and the VV (watch the takeoff run) until I saw this video and later heard the Fighter Pilot podcast episode on the F-14: Now every time someone says "backup" in front of "attitude indicator" for the small cockpit instument, I can't help but smile, because I would never trust that so called HUD with my life in IMC conditions.
  17. Exactly, in every aircraft I know, flaps lever forward or up retracts them, while down or back extends. What looks inverted to me is the DLC mode, as speedbrakes and spoiler controls are always designed to mimic the throttles, from glider aircraft to large airliners: forward is faster (retract), and aft is slower (extend). Maybe it has to do with mounting the control in the stick instead of in the throttles as you say.
  18. TBH, texture wise I am still pretty happy with Ricardo's mod. I don't really mind about PBR or the exterior model. In a flight simulator the part I care less about is graphics. Visually the only thing I would be happy seing fixed is basic stuff, like the incorrect head position and the exterior lighting incorrectly affecting the interior of the cockpit.
  19. Very nice piece of hardware. :) What do you guys plan on using as the LCD displays?
  20. Yes, it is bugged. Also the EMCOM button should silence it, but does not work.
  21. The thrust of a solid fuel rocket cannot be adjusted nor stopped once ignited. For that you would need liquid fuel, which is less stable and requires a lot more maintenance.
  22. I never said anything about bombing while inverted. You go inverted in a popup attack and the ASL will guide you away from the target. Watch the track, I attached it for a reason.
  23. In AUTO bombing, when flying upside down after a popup, the ASL indicates the side opposite to the target, guiding you away from it. When flying upside up, it indicates the correct direction. Note that the target designation box and arrow are correct, only the Azimuth Steering Line is wrong while inverted. See attached track from the instant action bombing training (target is the red smoke). auto-bomb-asl-inverted.trk
  24. The thread title as marked as "no bug", that should be the confirmation.
  25. The STEP now only appears in A/G weapons. For A/A just use the HOTAS control again as you are doing (IIRC it says so in the manual). The training missions for A/A weapons should be updated tho, because they still say to use the DDI option which does not appear anymore.
