  1. Just flying the first mission. This is literally a game-changer. A whole new experience from all the scripted campaigns I've flown. A giant leap towards greater authenticity. Things got hectic in a hurry. I should've stayed aboard the Carrier Bravo sir. Amazing work. "It's the first day of school fellas!"
  2. Fantastic. Thank you for this Sandman. All F-14 content is gratefully received. Here's a link for anyone who wants to purchase: DCS: F/A-18C & DCS: F-14 Iron Tide Campaign
  3. Do you use FFB? As we know the damage model is currently broken, the plane is never in a fully fixed state. Perhaps I had damaged something on the ground and there was no visual indication, hence I had this vibration. If that is the case, I welcome the new ffb for a damaged Corsair. "No initial damage that precludes take-off or landings", huh? Ask the ground crew to repair the moment you spawn in. When they're done, ask them again. You'll find the aircraft is perpetually damaged, so I don't understand what you mean by that.
  4. I don't understand. I had a look at the files and the Corsair folder shows changes made at the date & time of yesterday's patch. I think something was patched, just not this particular problem. I have quickly tried flying the Corsair since the patch and it was shaking (visually and FFB) in the air, when it didn't before. It reminded me of the shake you get in the Mustang, when close to stall, but I was flying straight & level at 200 knots, with gear up, flaps up and cowl flaps closed. There was no reason for this shaking. So something's changed I think.
  5. It's not the repair process that breaks the plane. It's broken from the outset, at spawn. The repair process doesn't solve the problem either. We can't test this when spawning in the air, but I guarantee no matter how well you land you'll find the plane is damaged, strongly suggesting it's damaged with an air spawn too.
  6. I assumed (and perhaps I'm being an ass) the locked tail wheel (and for the sake of argument let's say it's currently permanently locked, with only 40 degrees of range), is spring-loaded by the nature of the suspension to return to centre, but not by a huge amount. This loading is easily overcome by differential braking and careful application of power when there's no wind, but with any wind acting on the large tail surface area it will take considerably more effort to turn the aircraft, hence the need for an unlocked, free-castering tail wheel, especially on a windy carrier deck. Isn't that what we're currently seeing, or perhaps I've misunderstood what you're saying? Plus, this: and this:
  7. If you go to the exterior view as the aircraft is lowered from a levitation (it's shaking as it does so too, which is a bad sign), as it's coming to the end of a repair, you'll see it mis-aligns with (the tail-wheel drops below) ground level/carrier deck, this results in a sudden jolt as it realigns and I believe this keeps the tail-wheel in a perpetually damaged state. So it cannot freely castor as it should. Wind etc is irrelevant. The tail-wheel never 'works fine' as you say, never has, not for anyone. This is precisely what the Patch notes refer to as having been fixed, and it hasn't. The video below shows how the aircraft should handle with an unlocked tail wheel.
  8. You guys think the taxi bug and the fact the aircraft is damaged from the get-go are unrelated? Occam's Razor anyone? In my opinion, this issue doesn't require separate threads, it requires consolidation. It's obvious they're related. Unlike you @OmasRachE, I am more disappointed than I already was, because the Patch notes suggested we were finally getting a fix and we didn't. I'd love to fly the Corsair and be as oblivious as @Art-J, but I don't because the immersion for me is so badly effected. I agree, it's absolutely unbelievable that this 'fix' wasn't tested before release of the Patch. I suspect it's more complex a problem than first realised, related to Magnitude's supposed bespoke damage model.
  9. @-Rudel- The aircraft is still damaged at spawn.
  10. What are you babbling about? The plane remains damaged at spawn in, end of story. Ask the ground crew to repair. If 170 secs pops up it's busted, plain and simple. The landing gear remains broken, therefore what's stated in the patch notes is blatantly incorrect. This thread is about taxiing and the problem with taxiing remains. We have to be united in our conclusions people.
  11. I spawned into a training mission, I asked the ground crew to repair, 170 secs popped up (if it was fixed like the Patch notes say, that wouldn't happen). Taxiing is just the same as it was, broken. Please give it a try yourself and let us know.
  12. Despite what today's Patch notes say, I am finding the landing gear is still damaged upon spawn. Anybody else?
  13. Anything Grumman related would be nice Yep. Anything Grumman related would be nice
  14. Is Heatblur's early F-14A scheduled to be included in this update?

  16. You may already be aware, but when you activate autopilot on the ground the stick trims all the way forward and the key-bind will not switch the A/P off, you have to throw the switch by clicking on it with the mouse. I use a FFB stick and I believe this problem may be related to two others: Iceman trimming all the way forward when you jump in the back seat. ACLS nose-diving you into the sea when activated. For FFB users these related A/P faults are among the last remaining 'major' issues with the F-14. With the imminent and eagerly awaited release of the early A, it'd be nice if this bug was weeded out once and for all. These probably have already been covered in separate threads, but not sure these three problems being related has been brought-up before. If they have, my bad.

  17. The equivalent opening scene in the sequel is a nice recreation, but just feels like it's missing something special. ...Tony Scott.
  18. Obviously that was a typo, I meant Iran. I wasn't referring to retiring the aircraft. I was saying a lot more of these amazing aircraft could've gone to the boneyard, if Iran's F-14's didn't exist. As you said yourself, the D was light years ahead of the original after it's upgrades, plus LANTIRN. I appreciate it's overly sentimental to wish it was kept in service a little longer. You must admit the opening scene featuring the Hornets in Top Gun: Maverick was a lot less exciting than the original opening scene
  19. Wow! I don't own a module with modern avionics like MFD's etc. I was saving the space in my brain for the F-14B(U). Looks like I'm going to need it. It's also increasingly looking like scrapping those F-14D's was not just a crime, but a sin. Yeah, I know they were difficult to maintain etc, but what a machine they must've been. It'd have even been worth launching a spec ops mission to sabotage Iran's F-14's just so we could have kept the D's around a bit longer. A bit naughty I know. What with the early A and this it's going to be the best year for the Tomcat since launch. Can't wait.
  20. In my opinion your points are moot, because the tail wheel is damaged from the moment you spawn in (ask the ground crew to do a repair as soon as you spawn in. The '170 secs' will pop up, which only happens if something's damaged. When they're finished the aircraft will misalign with the ground and cause the tail wheel to break again). We cannot accurately judge its functionality in this state. Personally I think the tail wheel should castor freely when unlocked and when locked be limited to the 40 odd degree limit we're currently seeing for unlocked.
  21. The aircraft is damaged from the moment you spawn and cannot be repaired: I'm as excited as anybody to fly this gorgeous aircraft, so hope a fix comes soon, but I first posted about this in June and nobody's acknowledged it. -Rudel- states in the above link that the Corsair has a unique damage model.
  22. The aircraft is damaged (including the tail wheel) when you spawn in. Ask the ground crew to repair and you'll see the '170 secs' pop up. Once that's done, ask them to repair again and you'll find the aircraft is stuck in a continual damaged state, therefore you cannot taxi properly: There has been no response from the Devs on my thread, so not sure they're aware. -Rudel- has recently mentioned the Corsair has a unique damage model that is still in testing, so until this is completed I guess the Corsair remains broken: I think this is the number one issue with the Corsair right now.
  23. Thank you Bignewy. Anything from Heatblur in this one?
