Yeah, I wondered about that. I always thought the buddy system was used as a backup. So the carriers don't have a proper tanker aboard now? Do they rely on other branch's tankers or do they just use them for emergency only? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Interesting! I guess my next question to him is 'how often are these tanker hornets used operationally?' I guess it doesn't matter that there are certain BuNo's allocated to the buddy store systems, if they are hardly ever flown. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

A-6 "Intruder" by Razbam My concern would've been what they did with the a-6e airframes. Given the rough life many of the planes went through (some of them started as -a's), and MLU to a 'super intruder' might actually have been very expensive and fraught with danger as those aged planes would've gained more weight and had higher stress on already worn frames. In retrospect, the hornets weren't a bad idea; I just have concerns about their procurement and whether they did what they said on the tin. We don't have a replacement c2, e2 and using the hornet as a buddy refueller isn't something I hear about often, so the hornet really only filled in for the intruder and the tomcat. And now, CVBG's carry hornets and super hornets. Sounds like there was a trade of one set of problems for another, but I'm just a 29-year-old Brit with no knowledge of the USN decision making process... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The thing to remember is that although the f18 is a good multi-role aircraft, the a6/a7 mix is GREAT at bombing but poor at fighting. The real reason for the hornets existence wasn't because these were bad planes: rather the navy was tired of the training and logistical nightmare of having to run and supply 8 planes on one carrier (k/e/a6, f14, s3, c/e2, sh-60). Why not collapse that down? Ideally they would have one helicopter and one plane doing it all. The fact is that all of the planes the hornet replaced were good or excellent in their role at the time of their replacement, and the hornet of the time was 'OK' at them all. A-6 "Intruder" by Razbam I think the barrier to derp will be the cost of the module; no-one is going to drop $50 to troll folks in MP by deliberately sucking at a MP session. In fact, I would trust the people with this module MORE, because they are seriously looking for likeminded crew. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's a totally different attack profile and although they are both designed as ground attack planes, the role of an a-6 is more of a low-level bomber. I don't have the exact stats but saying it "only" has four pylons to the a7's 6+2 aim9's belittles how much you can carry on those 4 pylons in the first place. These intruders were capable of dropping huge numbers of bombs. The a7 can carry lots of ordnance , but not as much as the intruder. But they are both cool planes i would like to see in DCS! Yeah. I'm just saying that although the geography isn't perfect, the climate is well within what was expected of the Thud. That mountainous terrain would be fun and challenging to fly it through! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The f105 wouldn't be out of place in the Black Sea- they were made for low-level bomb delivery over Eastern Europe after all... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

A-6 "Intruder" by Razbam The only way it could be better would be if we got the buccaneer. But that's just my UK bias. Although I did read that a few USN pilots said they loved when they flew on exchange programs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks! I've yet to see a good representation of DIANE and was always unsure as to what it looked like and its symbology. Any good resources out there? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm probably wrong here, but did the a6a have a ground radar? I thought DIANE was based off INS... But for me, an a6 multi crew and an f4 would be my preferred combo FO DCS... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Plans for 2016 - A-10C/F-15/Mirage 2000

as always baltic, im on station to read lines and support your fine work if you'll tolerate me :D -
There are numerous threads about f4's: as much as we want one, getting it done well just hasn't happened sadly. If the primary concern is over multi-crew, I would be equally happy flying an a-1 or f105. Specifically the thud - don't forget the manufacturer Republic Fairchild also Made the a-10 so it's fair to say there's a good relationship with them already. Also, given that the thud is no longer in service anywhere I doubt there would be any security/licensing issues??? Here's hoping...

Feedback and General Questions for Video Updates
ghostdog688 replied to Groove's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
great fun watching the LS... perhaps show us the progress a bit more regularly on twitch? should help keep us up to date. also, why not let other 3rd parties etc use the stream to announce/showcase their progress - it could also be used to show potential choices or dilemmas in the creation process - the chat will happily let you respond to feedback. on the subject of smart scaling - AWESOME!!! that's great news, as I use it heavily in another well-known modern combat sim (cough BMS cough). it will make those of us without 30" 4k screens a bit more competive :D -
Human RIO advantages? If course, if it's needed, an a10 or JTAC can buddy lase for a tomcat. It will integrate well in our flight community for that. I've already promised to RIO for one guy in our group.

Id love a Balkans theatre, but given the amount of hilly, rough terrain, I think it would be a little more work than a free theatre would be worth.

Looks like a 21 but with a very wierd nose cone... Perhaps a modified one?

Or instead, offer a multi-buy discount - buy one key and get the next one x% off? imagine how many virtual squadrons will show up for that deal...
