  1. Preordered and now looking forward to Autumn...
  2. oh...the ED News Page states 22 May...anyhow, back to waiting :) Thx folks!
  3. Is there a link to the preorder?
  4. Congrats to Wags and ED! I've been waiting some time for this...
  5.:thumbup: Since this will never be reality, some design features should make way for more usability for VR simmers...
  6. I have both the Explorer and HP headsets. The Explorer's FOV is slightly better and the HP is much more comfortable (for me).
  7. You can build a system with ALL NEW components minus the video card for < 600 USD. I recommend the i5-9600k CPU since it's #4 (non Xeon CPUs) for single thread performance: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html Don't overlook the importance of single threaded performance. It's my opinion that for 265 USD the i5-9600k CPU offers the best performance for the money.
  8. i5-6600k CPU + 980ti + WMR = cheap. You can get a good used HP WMR headset for 90 bucks on ebay. I have 4 VR systems, and the one above is one of them, using all used components. That one was ~700 IIRC. You could go with a i5-9600k + RTX2070 + WMR for some more money if you wanted. Good luck! https://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-Windows-Mixed-Reality-Headset-BB/173889424936?epid=14010448703&hash=item287c9e0e28:g:~n4AAOSwxqZcyJ7c:sc:FedExHomeDelivery!33772!US!-1
  9. What I hope doesn't happen is that everything gets bogged down due to complaints that a screw head is not to precise MILSPEC specification or the wires on a particular loom are not the in the correct colors. I've been watching otherwise great games get bogged down in those types of debates for three decades now...
  10. ...sorry for the question, but is it the 8th or the 7th? :joystick: We're coming over from the Tampa Bay area and I want to book my hotel room on the correct date...
  11. I'm based in St Pete and plan to attend :pilotfly:
  12. This is good news! Thanks Wags!
  13. For anyone who wants to learn the cockpit layout of the F16, I recommend this CD of images: https://www.ebay.com/itm/F16-VIPER-COCKPIT-instrument-panel-CDkit/113695888013?hash=item1a78cd928d:g:768AAOSwYbdcVKAl I bought one from the seller and he's a really good seller. The collection includes all of the side panels in addition to the front ones for the various versions of the plane. He has CD's for other planes as well.
  14. If they would make the labels scale in size from a dot for objects at a far distance to the label size it is now when objects are close, then spotting anything in either VR or a screen would be improved. While I'm cool with the idea that we want to "keep the immershun" and all that, this is still a computer simulation, and as such, has endemic limitations its real life form would never have. Pity the developers haven't implemented such an idea. Flight sims from 20+ years ago had this (if I remember which one, I will list it).
  15. It's a non issue. It's good that they have improved it and closing off the gap for less light leakage through the nose.
  16. If anyone is interested, I found this book on the F16 to be quite good: https://www.ebay.com/itm/General-Dynamics-F-16-Fighting-Falcon-Manual-1978-onward-all-marks-Hardc/263586649719?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649 Cheap, too! Though I'm pretty sure many of you here already know more than this book does!
  17. Just darken the screen if the virtual head collides with the canopy.
  18. If you get the racing sim Live for Speed and play it in VR your driver is really you...you can lean up and look in the rear view mirror and your driver avatar is looking back at you...your head movements are really there in the game...it's a cool feature.
  19. Saved as the default position for the active and future sessions in that aircraft.
  20. I'd guess that if it were possible it would be found in a .lua file in there somewhere...
  21. After the F16 I'd like to see Dino's Eurofighter for DCS...he can do it.
  22. It would not make much sense to make an announcement now for something they would need five years to do. I don't see ED acting like that.
  23. Congrats!
  24. I just got it and it's a GREAT bird! It's really fun in VR. Good work! (is the Pilot supposed to fly it from the rear seat?)
