Aerobraking, normal procedure to reduce tire and brake wear.

For one euro...

They're special telemetry versions with the warhead removed to make place for a telemetry up-link.

I think it's just propaganda. Why would they even fly into the WEZ of the S-200? https://theaviationist.com/2017/03/17/syria-claims-it-shot-down-an-israeli-combat-plane-israel-denies-dissecting-the-last-iaf-strike-on-damascus/ Edit: Also, southfront lol..

You said it right here though: And how do you know it's a "True" 5th gen fighter, the F-22/35 pretty much set the standard, if it doesn't match their performance you can't really call it 5th gen imho, gonna leave it at that.
-
Didn't say they're not comparable, they certainly are. But I don't think a Su-35 stacks up against an F-15 (with AESA). Not really, you can get 0.1 sq/m on F-16s and Typhoons too. And for a 5th gen fighter that's very much supposed to rival F-22/35 that's not much. All that stuff sounds impressive on paper, but whether it actually performs is another thing. I'm just saying you're comparing something (F-22) that has been around for over 10 years and is proven technology against something (Su-57) that is still in flight-testing.:)
-
I don't see many scenarios where a Su-35 would have an advantage over the F-15. And F-22/35 vs Su-57? I don't think you can call the Su-57 5th gen to be honest, it won't come close to either F-22/35 in terms of sensor fusion and avionics imo. I've seen head-on RCS figures of 0.5m^2 for the Su-57...

I've seen this as well with mirages, happens a lot with AIM-9s. If the mirage does a barrel roll at high speed the missile will fly past without detonating. Seems like an issue with the proximity fuses, but it's definitely prominent with the mirage.
-
And that's okay, but you can't argue that they're comparable to current western AESAs, because they're not. And the N-036 is still in testing, so it only proves my point.

Show me some exemplary fighter-AESA radars that Russia has ever operationally fielded. Easy to build low frequency AESAs, harder to make them X-Band and fit them into fighters. Not really guessing if they're just now starting to get into it. That's not even mentioning that they have trouble getting enough GaAs/GaN substrates to make meaningful numbers of these radars. The US had their first operational AESAs on the F-22 about 10 years ago. Are you saying Russia will make the same progress the west has made over the last decade instantly? :)
-
I'm making that call based on Russia's almost inexistent experience with AESAs and the fact that they're just now getting their operational R-77s, likely in very low numbers. I think it's pretty clear that their technology isn't bad, it's just at least 10 years behind the west.
-
Avionics, ECM, radar, weapons, engines... It's no secret that Russia is lagging behind by a fair amount in that department.

A MiG-21 can also be seen firing an R-73 in this video around 2:20. Don't know what version this is or if it's even a soviet one though...

RWRs not receiving Su-27 spikes

Flying F-15 against Su-27 and other F-15s. -
This definitely hasn't always been there, and it happened in the first round on several servers. Bug report here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3246673

RWRs not receiving Su-27 spikes

Same thing in the F-15. -
Just a heads up, there is a bug at the moment where SARH launches sometimes don't trigger RWR warning. We had this for a while and just today we had a training match against ITGC and it was especially noticeable. Happens with AIM-7 as well as R-27R. Sometimes it doesn't even give a nail.

What block number is FC3's F-15C modeled after?
red_coreSix replied to Vampyr's topic in F-15C for DCS World
It's the MSIP II from the early 90s IIRC. -

This specifies that fuel is dumped from both wings. It doesn't say anything about gear, but it does say dumping fuel when on the ground is possible. This is from the 1F-15A-1 though, so it might be different for the F-15C...
-
Looks like this is it, Rudel. See if that option is enabled. IIRC it's in the mission editor.
-
So because you have not "seen" it it's unrealistic? Makes sense..

If you guys ever wondered how the AN/APG-63 (also applicable to other western bar-scan radars) works this tool will help you immensely. https://tawdcs.org/radar-f15/ Created by TAW member Alephro, this tool is primarily aimed towards the geometry of the radar and visualizing how the radar beam looks in the physical world with varying elevations and modes. Represented are the RWS, TWS and STT modes. You can delete, create and move contacts by clicking on the according button first and then clicking on one of the three views showing the geometry.

Su-35S Flanker-E Awesome maneuvers video
red_coreSix replied to Zyron's topic in Military and Aviation
The F-22 has not been shot down anywhere to my knowledge. Even if, an airborne (fighter) radar is limited in the frequencies it can use by physical size of the antenna. It will, in the end, all be centered around X-Band. There is really not much you can do against the F-22s stealth if you don't want to change frequencies. You can, of course, keep trying to increase power output, gain, and sensitivity of your radar but that has a practical limit somewhere.
