Essay, PART 2: Getting the tail up...
Weegie replied to Chief Instructor's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Still to get to grips with the Spit :joystick: But I notice the precession of the prop disc on both the Dora and Kurfurst. It took me a good number of attempts to get these off the runway in a (somewhat) tidy manner and a large part of that was the sudden kick as the tail came up. It's especially pronounced on the 109 with the smaller rudder and needs a hefty right boot followed in quick succession by a lighter left boot, well that's how I overcome it. If I had read this prior to trying takeoffs I could have saved Germany a shed load of broken aircraft You's have thought I'd have known this from many hours on a motorcycle!!!! Anyway Thanks for the lectures I'm going to copy and save them somewhere for future reference :book: :worthy: -
There have already been some of the grey/silver skins of this squadron I wondered if I could persuade anybody to do this version for the MiG-21 To me its iconic similar to the red "The Show Must Go On" Viggen
-
I had a helluva time trying to take off in the MiG-21 I keep rolling to the left after I left the ground randomly and could not figure it :joystick: Reminded me of the time they cross connected the roll and yaw?? stability computers on an SR-71 or was it a A-12 Anyway it was just as DarkFire stated. Found it out in a wide view and seen the stick was making large rapid random movements. Going to controls, my stick was also mapped to the tiny mouse/joystick on the A-10 throttle. As my finger brushed it gave me full stick deflection What a dope
-
Ok I just checked it again and now its working fine Finger trouble I guess...................sorry for the trouble and thanks for the reply

Its obviously me as I cannot see any complaints I have not tried the other versions yet (mainly as the FM in NTTR seems woeful) Anyway I can deploy the drag chute but I cannot detach it. Sometimes when coming to halt it detaches. Switching to burner seems to work but that's a little counter productive I have tried using bound keys and the keyboard keystrokes and also with the switch cover in position and flipped open It detaches if I use the mouse in the cockpit but not with the keys So what am I doing wrong? :helpsmilie:

Yup to add AWESOME!! Many thanks for the work, look forward to the mods

DCS Fw_190_D-9_Dora Screenshot Thread

Nice video & skillful flying Love the doughnut at the end -
Great Well I did sort of wonder about if you were pointing at Updater as opposed to Run. Anyway I thought it was worth a mention. Glad to assist in a small way when I can I'm running the following, which might be worth a try as a starting point All Sweet FX settings Liftgammagain Vibrance Tonemap Lumasharpen Have fun
-
To add when it installed I got the white text followed by a short tutorial on first run. So if you are not getting the text on start up something is wrong If you go into the bin folder you'll see a dxgi.dll delete that and any reshade files plus the Reshade folder. You can easily check if its a reshade file by hovering over the file with the mouse. If its an Eagle Dynamics file, leave it, but you'll also see some by Crosire and these are the files to delete After deletion check DCS is running correctly, if its not you can re-install the files deleted from the recycle bin or better use DCS_Updater to do a repair Recheck and after that try another install If it still doesn't work I can give you the earlier version too, just drop me a PM and I'll pop it up onto Dropbox
-
Ok I just installed it for DCS 1.5 and it installed fine (although I don't like the interface and I'm going to re-install the version 1 I had been running) Did you direct Reshade to the DCS.exe file and not the Updater? These are in the bin folder. After that make sure you select Direct 10+ as the version of DirectX That's all I did and it installed a treat, if you tell it to use a lower version of DirectX it won't work
-
No problems, let me have a go at seeing if I can install the latest version & report back. If I cannot, I've got a copy of my earlier version available that I can transmit to you through DropBox if you are interested Glad to assist if I can

DCS Fw_190_D-9_Dora Screenshot Thread

So I continually revisited landing technique as I just could not get a consistent technique. Now thanks to Little-D, Tomsk and a bit of experimentation I have Here are 2 YouTube videos of the technique. I explain the procedure in the description, later I might make a proper instructional video, but I hope this might help for now. This bird as been a pain and a lotta fun at the same time.............I freely admit I'm about as bad a simmer as they come, but I have loads of fun. Oh not sure why I'm not getting a contact sound on the touch down I think its due to the sound mod I'm running. When using another mod on the the same replays I get the familiar rumble as wheels make contact..........but no squealing of tortured tires........Whoo Hooo

I'm running an older version than yours, so not sure what's applicable Do you get a confirmation that it's installed correctly? Its some white text in the top LH corner and comes up immediately in the start up screen? If you are getting that but no effects have you enabled some of the effects? Initially with the version I have nothing was enabled, so when you hit the Scroll lock, there was no difference. Again though you should get some white text LH corner informing you if its enabled or disabled. To start to see the various effects I had to go into the injector, enable the effects, "Push to Application", then when I enabled ReShade I could see them in Game

Thanks guys Surströmming sounds interesting but I like Haggis. The Hunter undoubted supermodel. The Harrier more like that girl you are strangely attracted to but your mates think you've taken leave of your senses. Viggen is a day one purchase. Its probably already been mentioned but in a book on the SR71 it was stated that the Flygvapnet (forgive the spelling) used to practice (dummy) attacks on the SR71 when it flew through Swedish air space. The US reckoned the chance of a kill would have been improbable (more down to ordnance than aircraft). Despite that the Viggen was considered one of the very few fighters that was a potential threat to the SR71. Unfortunately the book is in a box in storage right now (house renovations) Thanks for all the information in the other thread, especially "mattebubben" & "MiG21bisFishbedL" been fantastic finding out more about an aircraft I've really liked for about 30 years Anyways I have dragged this thread horribly off topic so I'd better "get ma coat"
-
Jeez I'm a Brit (obviously one with no taste) as I rate the Viggen close to the top or at THE top of beautiful aircraft It was very innovative for its time, looks purposeful and menacing with the canards and large delta. Laughing at the looks like a toy plane....................what about the Eurofighter, now that looks like they had a model of an F-16, an F-5 and a Viggen and then went to a VERY long design meeting, the results of which were then submitted to a committee Been loving the Viggen thread for all the information, videos and photographs

Go to DCS mainpage and select Downloads/User Files You might want to change the Files from 10 to 100 Use the filter File Type = skins Game = DCS: M-2000C Hit the Filter button Download the skins you want Next you need to unzip the the files, some will probably be .zip others .rar I recommend that you download and install 7Zip a free package that will allow you to unzip both .zip & .rar, by simply picking the folder and right clicking then selecting 7 Zip Extract Files Linky for 7 Zip http://www.7-zip.org/download.html After the skins are unzipped then you need to check if the relevant skin, is packaged as JSGME ready or just the skin. If it's JSGME ready you need to navigate down through the file structure until you come to the folder that contains the skin files. Anyway what you should end up with for any skin you want to install is a folder that contains the skin files and not any folders within folders. Once you have done that you want to install said skins in your "Users/yourfilename/Saved Games/DCS (or DCS.openalpha or DCS.openbeta, depending on the version you are running)/Liveries" When you go into there you may, or may not find a folder labelled M-2000C, if its not there then simply create it. Dump the skins in there and you should be good to go. Remember that skins are country dependent so if the skin is specified for a particular country it may not show if you do not have the correct country specified. I did a very bad and too long video to show what to do for the Bf-109K4 if you can understand my bad Glaswegian accent, then it may help show how its done. Writing it down makes it seem much more complicated than it really is to do https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LO3YddqPaPE&spfreload=10 Hope that helps
-
Try changing your country to France from USA When I did a quick check there were no default US skins available. There are a bunch of US skins though made by others (& you should all take a bow at this point)

Little D I don't think this is related, but its worth a try as outside chance. Often when I initiate a mission I find my track IR view turned close to 180 degrees out which is rectified by re-centering the Track Ir view. If nothing can be done with the track you could possibly center your Track IR when starting to replay your friends track and see if that has any effect I doubt it will help but thought it may be worth a try

I'd recommend installing JSGME or equivalent, then installing it that way. As I recall the mod is JSGME ready Instructions on installing JSGME here https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=98607 It makes life a lot simpler as the mod may be overwritten by an update, with JSGME the mod can be disabled before an update then simply re-enabled Bit more of a faff to do initially but well worth the effort in the long run

How do you reckon the rest of us picked up stuff, I still don't know crap compared to many on here Anyway first video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LO3YddqPaPE&spfreload=10 Second here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Z2hXf8_9bw&spfreload=10 Just hope you can understand me :music_whistling: Pretty sure you know all this already If you are having more specific issues perhaps you can spell them out. Not saying for a moment I'll have an answer, but I can take a look and there are a lot of guys who are a lot more knowledgeable than me on here
-
VJ Some of the 3rd party aircraft use a different file path The F-86 skins are located in CoreMods/Aircraft/F-86/Liveries/f-86f Sabre PM me with some of the missions if you can & I can have a look for the Bf-109 Have a look at the videos tomorrow and if it still is a problem then I'm quite happy to try and help some more via PM's rather than gum up the thread with specific issues Just a thought
-
Ok sorted the issue with the BMW skin out, as usual finger trouble on my part I've made a couple of "quick and dirty" videos on how to load the skins and then select them in the game I'll upload them to You Tube tomorrow and post the links. I only hope you can understand my rather horrid Glaswegian accent and the numerous Emmms and Ahhhs that pepper the videos. They were not intended to be polished items just a little guidance. A You Tube professional I am not and never will be Of course you may be doing all this stuff already, but if you are and still experiencing problems then the fault lies elsewhere Just hope it may help a little
-
Now I have just tried it one more time and this time the skin loaded so I am not sure what is going on I'll clear everything and make the videos again
-
My pleasure but after making a video I had to back track myself as I found at least one probably more of the skins were not showing in game. I could not get the Bf-109K4 BMW F1 team skin to work, so there may well be something a little flaky going on However I retested with some other skins and they appear to work fine..................So it might not be your fault, depending on the skins you are trying to load. I'll go ahead and make a couple of videos anyway to show how its done, if only for you to confirm that what you are doing is correct. Sorry for the delay but I got caught out with this myself When they are done I'll post them up
