  1. I don't have any curves set & I'm still pretty green as far as landing it every time without damage. For me the wing rocking occurs when around 350kph, full flaps, gear down. If you have a good straight approach path, it doesn't happen. It's when I need to start making corrections at low airspeed on a sloppy approach, that it occurs. Even then it only really needs a counter correction, followed by a smaller counter-counter correction to dampen or stop it all together. Seems like its more a PIO thing and I agree curves would in all probability exacerbate the problem. I do get problems others do not seem to have though, age & ham fists do not help
  2. Downloaded this skin as well (as Pretty in Pink) Thank you Jocko for 1) Sharing your work & your time 2) Giving us all such unusual skins, fabulous selection
  3. Thank You for sharing this skin Absolutely Terrific..............made my day
  4. Just simply superb
  5. I used this to grease a Hog Stick, haven't had the requirement to grease up the throttle yet Its a Tamiya grease for their motors on the models which use Nylon gears. Had it on the stick for around 2 years and it works great You can get it from Amazon Also heard that a common problem with the Hog throttle, not sure if this applies, is the nylon strips TM install start to come away and quite a few people replace this with PTFE tape
  6. Got the same rock and roll using a VKB FBM stick with extension & no curves. Once below 400kph it starts to get pretty sporty. Full flaps and gear down at about, or a little above, max landing weight, I usually counter the roll then before it starts to roll into the direction I have the stick I try to apply a counter, counter movement. I need to try SAU stab mode to see if it helps I don't know if its just me but I'm finding it a lot more difficult to land than I remember
  7. You Jocko are a gentleman and a scholar sir Many Many Thanks
  8. Just want to add my pathetic pleading for you to release a preliminary for the Swedish & PR skins.....they are really interesting and original :worthy: Nearly everything in DCS requires updating so, even if you feel its not up to your standard jocko, there are a lot of us out there who have less talent, lower standards and would be very happy to see a linky thingy.
  9. This does look so good, haven't seen anything coming close to this except VKB. Another question if you would be so kind How much will the base be to purchase separately? The reason for the question is to decide on if I purchase the grip first, then the base separately OR wait until the full assembly is available
  10. Thanks Burning Bridges for coming back to confirm actions to try out the mod Aprreciated
  11. Off Topic BadHabit I know but while your skulking around here how did you get these amazing screenshots on the MiG-21 Screenshots thread? I'm using one as wallpaper and I'd love to use the others but some were at a lower res as I remember Thanks for the settings I now have something similar but I use "recovery" & "cancel current mode" sequenced on my stick and the other modes slaved to a switch on my Hawg throttle Once again thanks to everybody it's really appreciated you guys taking the time to help a "rookie"
  12. Thank you so much grunf That clears it up. Appreciate the extra info on what it does in the real thing too
  13. Oh & one more thing are you planning on making an extension for the stick? It's probably not an issue if you are only going to make it compatible with TM but might be if its VKB unless the VKB extension could be used. I suppose it's all about the stick attaches to the donor body. I'd be interested in hearing about the plans
  14. So now its getting more complicated by the moment!! From the picture above there are 2 modes that now intrigue me. Thanks grunf I missed Attitude Hold. There is also Pitch On/Off second from bottom So now the questions are what does Pitch On/Off do & what does Attitude Hold do and how do they differ? My understanding is, more or less, for practical use in an Autopilot, they are 2 sides of the same coin :helpsmilie: Or have I totally failed, yet again, to grasp the concepts
  15. If I could get that stick for the VKB Black Mamba I'd purchase it for sure Got some other questions What is the type of plastic used, I do not mind a plastic/resin stick at all. Problem is there is plastic and plastic if you get my drift If I purchased the grip to install on a VKB or TM base would I still be able to use the VKB/TM programing software? When you're new base is released are you planning to release appropriate configuration software?
  16. First thanks all who replied, I'm hoping to make some short videos, not to show my piloting skills (I haven't got any)...................but to help anybody new to the Fishbed. This has been a bit of a long road as pieces of the manual, Chuck's Guide and some of the You Tube videos are just plain wrong now due to modifications to the module. I'm loving it though and very much appreciate the assistance I receive to my, sometimes obvious, questions That's the one Sir!!! So is it modeled? I thought it would be because its got a key command for it and its (BRIEFLY) mentioned in the manual. But being the Dumbass I am I do not know for sure, however armed with that little teaser of info I'll take the MiG up and play around with the buttons Off Topic Using your Czech skin BadHabit, it's my firm fave scheme by a long way
  17. So I understand the Directional, Recovery and Automatic modes in the SAU I'm guessing from the manual that SAU Stability mode is a damping function to lessen workload especially during landing or when at low speeds in general. However welcome any input of there is more to know The pitch mode has me foxed, I engaged it and yet I could still climb or dive at will and it did not seem to do anything Does it have to be engaged with another mode and what does it actually do? Anybody help? I know there will be many who know
  18. Thanks Guys  granaf, you picked up on my problems and gave me some ideas it's appreciated Fredref thanks so much for going to the trouble of laying out clearly the weaknesses of the module in detail, you're post explained so much I was ASS-uming when the KPP flags were out I had valid Glidescope BUT this is actually what was happening As you can see no flags on the KPP but a Glidescope NOT VALID flag on the NPP, and of course the Glidescope inidicator on the KPP glued to the top of the its scale. This is also why the SAU isn't behaving either, I noticed last night that it flicked on then off almost certainly due to an invalid Glidescope I'm well aware I am waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too high and steep there this was just an experiment, I noticed if I fly a shallower approach the Glidesope flag on the NPP goes out, but it can be pretty dammed sensitive.................well for my ham fisted, sausage fingered approaches at the moment :joystick: I'll never be an adequate let alone good pilot, but right now I am improving in leaps and bounds with this module Apologies to LeatherNeck :poster_oops: as the module is more or less, working as intended but now I know the weaknesses I can "fly around them" John :clown_2:
  19. So I'm learning the Nav in the MiG-21 Chuck's guide, the manual and JohnXXX's videos have been a big help and I'm hoping to do some myself, explaining some more on what I've found. To practice I have a very simple, take off from Kobuleti, fly over the sea until 50-60 clicks out then navigate to Batumi. In the evening in clear weather. This way I have visual clues to see what is going on while using the NPP/KPP to do the navigation BUT Problems 1) Sometimes I find the when in range with no flags on the KPP that the ILS bars on the KPP are indicating above the circle telling me to climb when I'm actually too high in the first place. I'm unsure if its a reversal of the bars, I need to experiment more. Other times it works as described 2) Selecting the directional Autopilot for landing to get clues I get nothing. If I'm understanding when in directional mode the Director on the KPP (the yellow bars) should also give you clues for ILS approach. 3) On the same topic when I select Auto for landing both green lights on the Autopilot panel light, yet the manual states the modes are mutually exclusive???? 4) In nav mode on approach to Batumi if I fly the director nearly every time I don't get needle convergence, I've got the heading set for 180deg from runway heading and I start 50-60 Ks out, so plenty time for the system to respond. Usually I end up with one needle are 11 O'Clock and the other at 1 O'Clock. Then sometimes it works.................this has also forced me to learn how to manually intercept my chosen radial. Is this a bug or is it just intended to be deliberately unreliable? I'm not knocking the MiG I think Leatherneck have done a fantastic job I love the pit, the textures, the flying characteristics and scary landing. I just wondered if others were experiencing the same frustrations I'd love to see it finally debugged but that probably will not happen until some time well after Viggen release (which I've also bought). I've also been following the "State of the MiG-21" thread and seen Nav mentioned but no specifics
  20. So I downloaded the Preliminary download version 5.0D of Burning Bridges sound mod but I'm not sure how to use it when I open it up its got sdef and Sounds folders, but there is no sdef folder in the root folder of the game. The sdef folder resides within the Sounds folder Do I move the sdef folder into the Sounds folder? I'm unsure how to implement this to try it out. Or am I missing something and being my usual dumbass self
  21. Feels the same to me...........................I'm still grappling with the Spit I took off and landed it twice out of 2 attempts with no drama in MP. I can hardly taxi the Spit, but I haven't spent much time on it (figuring nav in the MiG-21 right now) I thought the Dora was the hardest of the game of the modules I use regularly, but the Spit is another level for me at the moment
  22. No idea if its modeled and never heard that name used for the effect I came across it before, when reading about the work done to reduce induced drag from both radiators and radial engines. I seem to remember the NACA cowls used on radials employed a similar phenomena to reduce the drag on radials, which were a revelation at the time.
  23. You can assign the cover to your HOTAS I have my drag chute working on the Hog Speed brake fwd P - Press and Release As long as the switch is pressed that's all that happens When I release the switch the following is executed RALT D - Press and Release (opens the cover) RSHF LCTL D Press and Release (activates the chute release) RALT D - Press and Release (closes the cover)
  24. BadHabit Seeing that mail just made me want to respond. Its a simm at best a fancy, very absorbing game on a computer.................which I spend way too much time on. Anyway I just cannot understand when people get so hot under the collar about historical this, accurate that. You like a skin you download it, you don't then walk on by. There is also language and difference in national character, which can end up making a response look far worse than it was intended to be I'd just like to say a BIG THANKS for that skin I think IT'S AWESOME and your generosity in sharing is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED
  25. That's a pretty neat panel..............damn you I might need to splash on that
