  1. Thanks Tomsk But as I said landings that smooth are few and far between Have you tried Groom yet, just wondering. I'll go to Black Sea and try your method, funny another guy was also praising the partial power technique to me the other day. So you definitely have something there for sure. It may be a technique to use under certain circumstances and not others The reason for not centering at the threshold is experience has taught me that coming off the power kicks the aircraft to the right As far as the rudders I agree no right and wrong really all preference and degree. I try to stay off the rudder on the approach as it tends to make the nose bob around so I prefer to use the ailerons and point the nose that way, I just find it a bit smoother. Close to the deck when on the flare though yes I do sometimes give the rudder a kick if I start to wander left or right and of course once on the deck they are absolutely essential usually. If anything that landing was too good for illustration as I don't even need to touch the rudder on the roll out and that is VERY unusual
  2. Now that is skill Yo Yo Need to give that a go..........................I know this will not end well
  3. I tried Tomsk's method quite a few times & although I could land it (sometimes) using power set to 1500rpm it brought me more problems than it solved The upside for me was it is a really good way to reduce rate of descent and preventing the overflair/bounce that then results in smashing onto the runway on the second attempt The downside was it increases the amount of time the Dora is in the critical stall regime between 200-160kph. This then resulted in an extremely squirrely Dora, which I found hard to control. Its either because I do not have sufficient speed of reaction (the joys of old age) or a developed enough skill set. I was trying the landings at Groom Lake,so landing the (arguably) trickiest aircraft at the trickiest field I made another video, its very similar to the other one I posted before, just another. Oh and I do not achieve that level too often its usually more of a thump and squeal of the tyres [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4g9IM673uyQ[/ame]
  4. As saburo stated OR there is another way to put them in then remove them easily should you want to without affecting the game files Under C:\Users\"My name"\Saved Games\"DCS"\Liveries Where "My Name" is your user name & "DCS" could be DCS or DCS.openalpha or DCS.openbeta depending what versions you are using In Liveries there should be a folder Bf-109K-4, if it is not there add it Then dump the skin in there that way extra skins don't get mixed up with the standard game skins Similar thing goes for missions. Not 100% but I also think the method describes also removes the danger of getting the skin removed at an update Personally I use JSGME for nearly everything as I find it more convenient but the method described works well too. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=98607 John
  5. I posted a vid before on landing, not sure if it helps or not. Apart from a horrific amount of practice my tips are Micro flare in series of small steps, cross threshold at approx 220, engine to idle Don't let the wheels come into contact with Terra Firma above 190 (she will pogo big time) When close the the ground and somewhere between 190-170 stick back gently no more that 2/3rds As soon as its on the deck check the Turn indicator it gives you early warning on which way the bird is going to violently veer, apply opposite rudder to counter Is she rolls onto one wing keep the stick back, and move it left or right, to counter the roll Don't touch the brakes until well below 100kph (I do not use them at all usually) I usually get it down without damage, sometimes I bend a strut. Even with all the practice its still an exciting event
  6. Maybe I'm doing summit wrong but I cannot get the first ones "Heroes of Kosciuszko" to show up in 1.5 Anybody help?
  7. Thank you for your efforts, that is a really nice skin
  8. Been waiting for this skin and so far no joy :o(
  9. Don't have the Gazelle, but if you want voice activated input perhaps maybe Voice Attack? Pretty cheap and works well https://www.voiceattack.com/
  10. A tad off topic but I don't know if you're a hot shot or, like me, luke warm on a good day. You will have a lot of fun (especially if you don't have the 109 either) just getting that bird off the deck and back down in one piece. Its a lot of fun just mastering the basics I also think that the 109 is the better performer of the 2 axes aircraft, but I love the Dora and spend more time in it than anything else
  11. Look very nice quality but pretty pricey Can you order the mount plates separately? I have a Hog Stick & FBM so I would not want to shell out twice for both sticks
  12. Hi UBoats I haven't yet fully tested but it works for some of my aircraft in 2.0 but not for others I've looked at the Dora (does not change picture with skin) A-10C (does not change picture with skin) Kurfurst (works a treat) Anyway its bound to have a few bugs but its an awesome tool and should have been in the main package a loooooong time ago Many Many Thanks for this
  13. Strut You PM'd me too, letting me know the skins were available. Wanted to say publicly that these skins are awesome & I thank you for taking the time. Now going hunting to find your Mirage skins that I didn't know about
  14. Are you releasing this one or is it a private skin, I love the Croat markings, looks great!! Also looking forward to the release Italian scheme posted earlier too
  15. Agree with Whiplash You could also check the Decription.lua file to make sure the file names match the .dds/.bmp files and that the switch for the appropriate layer is set correctly to True or False. False means the relevant file is in that folder True means its somewhere else.
  16. Super I seem to remember finding that on another mod, cannot remember which Thanks for the fix because I just tried it and it did not work
  17. Blackcloud I'll try it later today in 1.53 to double check and report back later today or tomorrow latest
  18. That's why I use JSGME for nearly everything, when I'm updating I disable all the mods, then re-enable after its done & (touches wood) I have never lost anything It all works a treat and thank you kindly the cockpit is a far plusher place to be with the mod enabled
  19. I'm with 5tuka on the method for takeoff. I'll maybe do a video later but Little D has produced an excellent video for both take Off and landing [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSL0C3vZ308&spfreload=10[/ame] You will get umpteen methods a lot of people have wildly varying techniques Mine Trim as default, I don't touch it Stick back around 2/3rds (not fully) and slightly to the right Rudder about 1/3 in to the right Smoothly advance to WOT (wide open throttle) Eye on the turn indicator (I know Jcomm will disagree and states a real pilot, like he is, looks out the window to judge drift. I'm not so I use the instruments) Keep the turn indicator as centered as possible by countering swings with rudder (some stab the rudders, I use smooth progressive inputs, either way works) At 120-150 stick smoothly forward, at this point you will also need to reduce right rudder input At around 200 she lifts herself It happens very quickly when at WOT but if your stick is only 2/3rd back and not fully she will fly off herself from 3 points. Danger there is you need to get the nose back down to pick up speed and prevent a stall, but its not too bad Oh & PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE & PERSEVERE I went through a couple of hundred Doras learning how to takeoff and land. It can be a bit of a beast at first. Good luck
  20. So I just checked this with Tacview It would appear that the fault is with the data the Kurfurst is recording and not the replay. Running in Tacview resulted in the same crash, although the landing itself was good. It looks like its a problem with the reported coordinates as everything looks fine but the aircraft is always offset from the runway "landing" parallel to it in the replay which results in the the inevitable crash Just thought I'd post to see if it helped
  21. I don't know about the view numbers I checked and mine and they were as they should be I do run TrackIR As far as the shifting of the view that happens with or without TrackIR enabled
  22. Thanks but I already have Wondershare and DXTory which IMHO are far superior The purpose of the DCS replay was to record and synch external and internal views. Once I achieved that I could then run the replays a couple of times capturing an external and internal view, which I'd then record. Once I have the 2 videos I'd pull into a video editor package and make a complete clip. If I don't have the replay function I could only make a video of the internal view. That said the replay seems to work quite well up to crossing the threshold where it all then goes horribly wrong. So I might be able to do some sort of lash up. However it would be a simpler and better video if the replay worked.
  23. So is it just me Trying to make some landing videos and every time I do a "Ahem" touchdown and replay I either crash, fly into the desert, damage the gear etc: nothing like the track I just flew. Even saving and replaying in Replay does the same thing the Dora is fine but something seems very wrong with the Kurfurst
