For open beta and alpha you have to install them modules manually. For stable release you don't. It is stated somewhere..though. But that's why we have this great community.. to help each other on harsh times :) Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk -
Try and do a cleanup, a repair then try to update using dcs_updater or Sithspawn's tool. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk

Chill man... You have to manually install both the map and the asset pack. In the bin folder of your DCSW2.1 you'll find dcs_updater.exe. Use a cmd prompt to issue these commands: dcs_updater.exe install NORMANDY_terrain dcs_updater.exe install WWII-ARMOUR Then you have to activate them. Don't reactivate other modules if it asks. Enjoy! Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk -
Check my previous post. Open a cmd or powershell prompt by holding Shift + RClick in the bin folder of DCSW 2.0 and install the two modules Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk

After DCS 2.1 update I had to manually install NORMANDY_terrain: dcs_updater.exe install NORMANDY_terrain dcs_updater.exe install WWII-ARMOUR Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk

What aircraft are you going to be flying in normandy and why ?

Are we there yet..? -
The Spit is still in development. FM seems a bit exaggerated from all perspectives. I, too, use a very large curve for the pitch axis and a bit on the rudder, as I tend to over use it.. Using a long stick, well, that's a different story.. As of now, I'm enjoying flying with a couple of force feedback sticks (G940/MSFFB2), but soon I'll make a move towards an elongated stick with adjustable force (VKB/Virpil). It's a must.

MFG will definitely make a difference.. a lot, for that matter. I recommend you to use the 'no center' cam with 0 deadzone. You'll notice heavy improvements.. :)

I am a little anxious about this.. Two weeks ago, Matt said that a part of the team that's working on Normandy map moved back to working on the Caucasus map.. He also confirmed that NTTR map is finished. Once the Normandy is out of the Alpha/Beta stage and the Caucasus update is finished, we'll probably have the merger of all maps under a single executable file. I exaggerated a bit with "cca late May" but things are rolling towards the much anticipated merger with a high pace.. I can feel it :)
-
Nevada is still OpenAlpha.. Most people fly the stable version, the boring Caucasus map that is, but things are about to change once the big '1.5+2.0=2.5' merger takes place.. cca late May. One can only dream..

Taming the beast..

Well, somehow I can.. but don't imagine that I just grab it with my peripheral vision.. I really have to squint to pick it up. And probably my 'not so fancy' 27" monitor @1920x1080 res helps a bit.

DCS is not only about clickable cockpits. In fact, what shines about it, it's the flight model of each individual plane. A professional flight model costs around 100000$ and is unique for each aitcraft. Don't confuse DCS with other "sims" where they have 20 planes based on some tweaked parameters of the same model.

I recommend you to get a force feedback stick for wwii. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk

You're right.. unfortunately. But definitely visible in the original vid. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk

Spitfire IX - Snapping those wings off
amazingme replied to philstyle's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
You may be right, but DCS has the potential to become perfect in every aspect once the damage model is done, other so called sims not so much.. They will remain light years behind. Imagine the best flight model plus the best damage model in DCS 3.0.. What will YOU do then? Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk -

Maybe the virtual pilot must undergo the same training as RL pilots do before playing or asking stupid things.. as we all do :) -

He will go into g-loc of course.. but the 109 pilot is a little girl compared to the spit pilot. I was wondering why the 109 pilot will go into g-loc when he releases the stick.. every time.
