  1. Is that how she works IRL? If so, I now see how much value the offset option will add... I'm assuming if I'm in offset cursor, designate/undesignate will work as it does now?
  2. I'm really happy undesignate doesn't re-boresight the TGP, that was one of the most painful aspects when trying to engage multiple targets. If I have the TGP on the right DDI, SCS->Right works as expected and allows slewing after entering PTRK or ATRK. If the TGP is on the lower screen, SCS-Down doesn't do a damn thing. Is it me, or is this as expected or a bug? I also noticed that, when I switched between TOO and PP, some of the stations inherited the TOO target coords into PP, similar to how it worked before Christmas, but I didn't do it consciously and I coulnd't find a way to repeat it. Anyone else see this?
  3. Downloaded and working fine on AMD 1100T, cheers!
  4. Thanks you sir, downloaded and up and running, cheers
  5. BIGNEWY, this is very disappointing news. I never bothered to read the system specs as I've been running this game for 10 years and just been growing with it, and it's been running fine, so had no reason to check. I'm very disheartening that I just dumped a lot of money into some new modules such as the F-18 and the SuperCarrier and not only will I not be able to enjoy them, I need to spend hundreds on a new MB/CPU to take advantage. I would understand it if my system was limping along, but... it's a 1100T 6 core 3.3 GHz processor, and frankly it chews up DCS without an issue, paired with a 1070GTX, runs at 50FPS on High settings. No where in the arena of, I'm going to have to upgrade soon. Leveraging a single SSE4.1 instruction this late in with little gain is ridiculous and puts a good chunk of the customer base on the curb. If your development team needs a solution, I'll take a 5 minute phone call and help them on their way. Seriously this is not a difficult thing.
  6. Yeah, are you serious? A 6 core 3.3GHz processor isn't good enough to run this game because someone introduced an SSE4.1 instruction into the code after all this time, even though the game runs flawlessly on this processor up until now? It has to be a pretty minor use of SSE4.1 if I can still fire up an A-10C or F-18 and fly around without crashing. If I have to buy a new computer to continue just to handle a patch on a game running 40+ FPS on high settings seems absolutely ridiculous and would be a hanging up of my hat.
  7. Glad it worked out, I've corrected the link in my original post, thanks.
  8. Thanks, glad to see it's been identified. Fingers crossed for hotfix. Cheers.
  9. For anyone waiting on a patch to address these issues, you can roll back to the last openbeta so you can still play while waiting for the fix. Open a command window to your DCS/bin folder and run: dcs_updater update 2.5.6.49314 On subsequent launches, it will tell you a new version is available. Just click "Later" until the patch is available. If you need more concrete instructions, you can find them here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1876747&postcount=1 Cheers
  10. Welcome to the club, already reported here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=273937
  11. Completely reinstalled and no joy with no mods, removed DCS.openbeta directory as well. Logs were submitted. If I create a mission with a single aircraft and nothing else, it will load, but going to external view immediately crash. Changed the aircraft to an AI so that it would start in external view, and launch the game, it crashed right away. Launch the mission with no units, it loads up, I can cycle with F11 and go to all airports and look around, no issues, so the issue seems to happen when viewing the external model of any aircraft. Even tried launching again A10 player aircraft with a MQ-1A near me, nothing else in the map, and it crashes on load. Remove the predator, loads fine and flies until I hit F2.
  12. My mission was pretty light, so I tried taking a few things out and it would seem if I remove the MQ-1A out of my mission, mission loads fine. Edit: I take it back... as soon as I clicked F2 and went to the external view, it crashed again.
  13. Having the same issue, and took a look at your log, it bombs out in the same place, Illegal Instruction InitVFS... It bombed for an A-10C mission and F-18, but it wasn't able to run one of my F-18 missions - VFR Landing, Persian Map had no issues.
  14. Interesting, it would actually spoil the immersion for me personally. If a war broke out in the region, I doubt there would be much, if any, civ traffic bouncing around. Same reason I turn civ traffic off unless it makes sense in the context of the mission/campaign to have them there. Edit: I'm in no way against it though, as long as it has an option to disable which I'm sure it would. It would be pretty low priority over the current backlog I would imagine. I suggest you go with the current suggestion of trying out the mods, who knows, you may never go back.
  15. First off, thank you for your long contribution to the community, much appreciated. Given that you already host it on github, have you considered allowing a small group of others to maintain it?
  16. Big +1. Plus there must be a fair bit of code that has to deal with switching from state A->C and C->A without having to go through state B (the middle position of the pot for example) that could be done away with, making it worthwhile for the devs too. And of course you have to visually look at it first, but especially at night it's not that obvious which position it's in already and I'm sure we've all clicked watched in wrap around, and quickly put it back to where it was, and dealt with the potential consequences.
  17. Who cares, just another thread showing what's wrong with the world lol. Customers fighting to not have a sale. There's no end to the white knights. OMG ED, please don't offer us a sale, I'll pay full price I promise. My selfish situation has me working from home with full pay, I don't care about the others. I have lots of TP too. Just unreal. Who the hell would label a video game sale a panic buy!? Whatever your smoking, I want some... any relief from the real world and joining the one your living in sounds amusing for the short term.
  18. I'm out of country, flying home soon, and my home country just announced mandatory 14 day quarantine, so, I now double my request. After 12 days I'd likely buy a Sopwith Camel if it were available. At least I'd get some nostalgia out of it. From wikipedia... FS 1.0: "If flying your IBM PC got any more realistic, you'd need a license", and promised "a full-color, out-the-window flight display". We can all laugh now ya, haha.
  19. Wow, just wow. That's an impressive amount of dedication and work with an amazing outcome. Glad to hear it's a labor of love. Inspiring as well, I expect you may end up with quite a following. Forgive me if you mentioned it, but do you have any plans for a youtube channel to walk us through any of the build or some highlights once it's functional, so we can live vicariously through you?
  20. With everyone quarantined to their houses and no new DCS modules to play with, 9 months from now a boom of babies will be born... and we will call them the Coronials. Jokes aside, thanks for looking into it and raising it with the team BIGNEWY.
  21. Sorry bro, you're way over your skis, Your taking a well defined computer science/game dev term, and abusing it. What you're referring to is merely post-processing of data, one time, and storing and using that post-processed / massaged data. Procedural generated implies generated from an algorithm, (typically using perlin noise for terrian for example) and other techniques, and nothing to do whatsoever with what you described. No one is asking Eagle Dynamics to re-invent the wheel here. As others have pointed out, the information/data is available and license-able from 3rd parties, be it, google, MS and many others, and for what it's worth, no one is using satellite imagery for the fidelity we are talking here, that's 10 years ago tech :book:. Perhaps they should build their own compiler, hell, built a native programming language and a custom piece of hardware to run it on. The only real show stopper why we wouldn't see this come to reality is merely an economics equation of the licensing costs vs expected gains in income being negative. Please do, as a quick glace at your recent post history suggests you enjoy spending your time ruffling feathers instead. Got nothing nice to say... then don't. Amen,
  22. Excellent point Tholozor. I think a lot of folks miss this step, especially those coming from the A-10 because in the A-10 the elevation will get auto-filled by DTS when creating a waypoint, and therefore not needed for ground targets.
  23. Yeah, for high detail, it's a challenge. The "space" problem can be solved by streaming the bits that are relevant to the area you are currently flying and caching techniques, but that would put minimum bandwidth requirements. Those with poor internet connections would need to limit their experience to their cached areas of interest... Edit: Think google earth style technique and google maps cache offline area type of thing.
  24. I haven't tried it myself, but you give this a go, or tweak it in mission editor to fit your needs: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1459726/ Personally, I inverted the axis, and while it caused a few issues in the beginning, especially during panic moments, I'm happy I went this way and won't look back. Especially with the TM warthog, the throttle moves so far forward, that with the axis inverted, I do get the sensation of lifting rather than pulling back, which is nice.
  25. Oh good, more poison. Call the OP naive, and white knight zhukov032186 just as he himself counters your own statement: Now even the wishlist and peeps wishes are under attack :helpsmilie::doh:
