When a group with a route starts to move, they scatter and try to go around each other rather than form a column. Place a mixed bag of units on a road, set a waypoint further down the road. All of the units, including the lead one will turn left or right, and then head back to the road, all bunching up with each other and cutting each other off. Worst case, they do a bunch of 360s, and behave like crazy. See the second attachment. Edit: Attached miz file Bugged Ground Units.miz

Perhaps it's not moose, but... if I use the regular late activation feature of the ME, they work fine. It basically looks to me like moose is cloning my template and deploying them in the right place, but the initial formation is set to off-road, causing them to all want to get back on the road they are already on... I honestly don't know how you guys have the patience. I just added 2xF18'x for fun, 30nm out, one with GBU-38 and one with AGM-154A. Hornet carrying the 154's drop 30nm out, GBU-38 guy waits until 5nm overhead at 30k ft. F-18 with AGM-54E misses by miles and doesn't use the pod. I could go on, suffice to say, I've tried 10 test missions in the last 30 minutes and... nothing works as expected. Anything beyond an armored group of targets sitting like ducks in a farmers field, sitting there getting high on the white phosphorous and doing nothing about it is just too painful.

Convoy Mayhem Decided to use moose for the first time, first simple little step and I'm ready to throw the PC out the window lol. I just put a convoy on a road in the ME with a route, inital on-road, final on-road. I want many of these to spawn, so I call: A2G_CONVOY1 = SPAWN:New( "A2G_CONVOY_EAST" ) A2G_CONVOY1:Spawn() They spawn, but immediately turn right a few degrees, turn back towards the road (at various speeds due to the different vehicles), run into the back of each other, and eventually sort themselves out after some time... Screenshot attached. I've done with it already, I've loaded the mission 100 times, changing it to off-road first, put a waypoint just in front of them, various different starting speeds.

I'm currently in a mission, have a target in my sights, I'm out of weaps and I want to pass the coords to my friend... but uh, I can't find coords anywhere!? Any help, and please for the love of god don't tell me there's no way to a pointing device to give me coords. A-10 they're just written across the bottom of the TGP screen.

There is definitely a gremlin here somewhere. I played the Dire Straits missions last night, but instead of landing on the airfield I returned the the carrier, and the Tacan, which clearly displayed THR, was over at WP0 even thought the boat was nearly at WP1, although my range was correct which is how I noticed it, my range started increasing even thought I was headed straight for the tacan symbol on the HSI.

fixed [REPORTED]AAP STEER Up/Down not working correctly
Vanguard replied to Vanguard's topic in Bugs and Problems
Much like the autopilot bug, this also has a workaround. The UFC Steer is working fine, just the AAP one has the bug. Which is hilarious IMO, the autopilot button/throttle pinky and the AAP Steer/UFC Steer should use the exact same code except for the animation. How would one break that code even if they tried? -
Wow, so I've just been missing out on the fun, never had a mission that required its destruction and I guess I've never bombed one. Actually, I still haven't, I was testing the new MRLS HE units and fired at the airport to see what destructive power it had and one rocket happened to hit the depot, so it was just coincidence in fact.

Ya, I'm not sure what the fuss is about, mine looks the same as yours, unreadable. I can turn down the gain to dull the map, but it still looks like crap, so I'm confused where this hype train is coming from. Nowhere near A-10 TAD readability. I find the F-18 almost unusable due to the MFDs. If I zoom in just a bit, the clarity of fonts is pretty good, but at the default, it's really hard to read. Compared to the F-15 where I could literally drive from the back seat so to speak and still read everything, in the F-18, I'm constantly zooming or using snap views to goto the radar display or SA to make out what the hell is going on. It's not a fluid workflow by any means and takes away the enjoyment and immersion. There are more F-18 MFD mods for readability than anything else... that should speak for itself. The ED team either has 50" displays or beyond human near-sightedness. Attached pics: Instant action ->F-18-Free flight. 1. Default view 2. Slightly Zoomed 3. Gain turned down Am I missing something here? Edit: Actually the post inspired me to play around with some settings. Just tried "Game Mode" on my monitor and this "Samsung magic upscale" and I am blown away by the difference. It's mostly tweaking the "sharpness" value from what I've seen, no amount of manually playing with the settings gives me the same vividness. Either game mode with brightness turned down a bit (was giving me a tan), or magic upscale mode 2 adds a lot of clarity to buildings, structures... like my whole world before had a blur modified applied. It's amazing because this level of detail is not captured in screenshots which get pulled from the graphics buffer, so there's no wonder why in a single pic one person can say wow this looks great, and the next guy is like, wtf are you on about, it's $h!t. Side affect is, I can see why it's a separate mode because it makes web browsing etc horrible with the extra sharpless. My old Samsung had a hot key for game mode, but it's been switched out for "Eye Saver" in the latest model, which sucks. After all that's said and done, new magic settings and all.. the MFDs still look like $h!t. Tried taking a pic of my screen with my phone but it just doesn't capture what I'm seeing.

No, I'm referring to the built-in warehouses... see the pics: Went on for 10 mins and the explosion grew quite large.
-
I just blew up a warehouse next to an airport and it's been exploding with fireworks for the last 10 minutes. How long has that been a thing?? I never noticed it in almost 10 years.

fixed [REPORTED]AAP STEER Up/Down not working correctly
Vanguard posted a topic in Bugs and Problems
I have AAP STEER Switch Down and Up bound to HOTAS. Since the latest patch, it now skips a waypoint with each press, like each press quickly fires two pulses, jumping form 0 to 2, 1 to 3 etc. EDIT: Mouse clicked on the rocker switch has the same effect. Steer rocker of UFC is fine though. -
Can someone from ED confirm or deny if this is in the roadmap please, and whether it would only be SC related or a general feature available on all airfields. No mention of it anywhere.

DCS World image quality - 2017 vs. 2020, which is better?
Vanguard replied to GeneralDynamics's topic in DCS 2.9
That's a really good point. Now I can't unsee it, it's terrible. -
Is there a way to get a mobile friendly version of the forum? I'm panning, zooming and scrolling for days...
-
True, I'm not sure if the 10 activation limit remains or not, but I agree, just re-install and enter your credentials and you'll be fine. I could have sworn when I did this recently I still got a message with "8 activations remaining" but either I, 1. Still had a starforce module at the time, or 2. My brain is mixing it up with second last time I did it. JRM, whether the limit exists or not, considering you haven't done it before, you'll be fine either way, you either have 10 or infinite, so... carry on.
-
You can activate your game up to 10 times, due to significant hardware changes or an entirely new PC. It is fully described here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/documentation/dcs_world_activation_guide_en/

Absolute +1 OB hits the street -> Nothing bad after 7 days-> it's stable Something bad -> bug fix only -> let it perk a few days -> Stable I could be dreaming, I thought it was more like this before. Then a train a bug fix only broke the paradigm. And this whole, I play OB to be part of the QA team. Wah? You've purchased something and given the option you've signed up for perpetual bugs and errors? Why? Hop into OB, test it, report stuff, and hop back to stable. If things go as above, it's only 7 to 14 days behind and carry on. There are some bugs that leave the game unplayable for some, unable to boot, etc. There would be a lot less drama if the alternative was 7 days old and not a big deal. Its because we have "2 different versions" no one wants to go back, its months behind and missing modules. MP used to be this way too. Servers would fire up OB. Oops, game breaker bugs, back to stable this week boys... carry on.

Indeed it was, thanks!

My 2c, I don't think it's cheating in anyway, if anything we've been cheated from the real experience. As a pilot I can use tactile sensation and muscle memory to flick most switches. Removing my head from the action to reposition my head/camera 45 degrees down to the right and using my mouse to flick a switch is hardly realistic compared to glancing out of the corner of my eye and feeling for the switch. IRL I can, while driving my drive my car, use my knee to steady the wheel, twist my arm backward and pull a bottle of water out of a zipped up cooler bag in the back seat. Would be a bloody nightmare in sim with TrackIR haha. I'd probably find myself in a farmer's field pretty quick.
-
Not as bad as I thought. Without precise co-ords and having to relying on the pod, it becomes an expensive exotic maverick. Puts a damper on that 100+km range. IRL, would they rely on other actors to steer it closer to terminal or they would they just rely on precise cords at those ranges?
-
Does anyone know the "practical" as well as the max range for the pod?
-
Just be careful what you wish for mate. You might end up with a more expensive version of the same thing. What I mean to say is, it is very clear that ED has some talented developers and they have the capability to create great things. What is desperately missing is proper project management, which has let to an over commit and poor QA. The point being, you can throw all the money you want to solve the problem, but unless that gets resolved, the problem will just grow exponentially as they go even wider. 20 years of software development in telecom building real-time 99.999% highly available products, I can tell you we had some of the best developers in the world, but that had nothing to do with the reliability of the product. Our quality assurance team pounding the absolute hell out of the product, and even with some of the best engineers on the market, the internal bug tracking list was frequently pages long... it just never left the door until it was right, and that's what made it a quality product. Heros of a thankless job sadly. Proper project management took this into account so we would only make promises on what could be delivered and QA ensures we looked good, being provided enough time and budget to do their job. When bugs make it out the door, don't blame the goal keeper, it made it through 5-10 (depending on the sport) people before it got to them, but they are the most crucial element, and not having one or a poor one is honestly usually the difference between the annual trophy or not. Devs are focused on the piece they are working on, and generally unit test and feature test that component. Its QA's job (hopefully with the help of automation) to ensure it didn't sneak out and break something else. TL;DR; You should only invest in companies that can properly manage their business with the funds they have. If they miss manage that, throwing more money at them isn't going to solve the problem, even if money is in fact the problem. They should understand what their capabilities are both technical and financial, and work effectively with what they have. If you do a great job, you get more... that's how it works. Try walking into a bank and securing a loan suggesting that money will solve a planing and management issue.

Big list of updated/roadmap posted for the 18, but I didn't see any specific mention or any line items that would relate to the addition of MGRS coords for the 18. Anyone have any insight?

Well it appear the sentiment here is, and I agree, targets are super easy to find using the TPOD, too much so. 20nm, 25k ft, point the camera using FLIR and the entire enemy platoon shows up like a Christmas tree. Albeit it, sometimes I get my father to stream and I watch him glaze over what looks like a minefield and he doesn't see a thing. Perhaps your monitor contrast/brightness, or more than likely your in-game gamma setting needs tweaking, especially after all the lighting changes. Do this... once you've found a target, hit pause, bring up your options menu and play with the gamma with your TGP still in view in the bottom right and see if you can make them pop and then tone it down a bit for immersion. And as stated earlier, definitely don't use CCD to spotting, use CCD to help identify after you've found it if needed. I will say this though, for whatever reason, the TGP required a pinch of zoom. At max zoom out almost nothing appears. Little juice on the zoom in and everything lights up well.
