  1. Thanks for the update mate. If only there was a way to prevent units from spawning on rooftops... I noticed the switch to poly zones instead of the trigger radius, very cool. I noted that, at least on the Syria map that I was testing the poly zones outline the suburb, but typically don't include the road outlining the particular suburb. It's obviously personal taste, but I would expect to see vehicles on the surrounding road, and it would also reduce the frequency of units spawning on rooftops since the road is a safer place to spawn.   2. I use the TM warthog inverted as well, and the forward throw is so far, that I do get the honest impression I'm lifting rather than pulling, especially if you grip it the right way. Had no issues.
  3. My pleasure, it's a drop in the bucket compared to all your hard work. By the way, have you released the zeus functionality as a separate mod somewhere? It's extremely useful, I hope you don't mind, I've incorporated it into a few of my co-op missions on private server. It's great for training and teaching others without having to go to ME. I would love to see an MP server with a dedicated game master leveraging this to create a dynamic scenario on the fly for a group of players.
  4. If you attack an arbitrary point on land, ships will fire cruise missiles at that point, however if you target a unit, it will engage via guns, even if the unit is miles inland. We need a way to select what type of attack/which weapon to use when targeting with ships.

  6. Re the RAM usage, the airfields are minimal. Goto DCS/Mods/terrain/<map>/AirfieldsTaxiways. Airports are less than 100Kb of metadata describing the x,y,z location of taxiways, parkings, etc. Drop in the bucket compared to the 3D rendering of the objects that make up the airport. I doubt there is a limit on number of airfields.
  7. Indeed I was:doh: I created a quick mission centered there, and hit F10 and that's where I was. I guess it snapped me to the closest airport in 3D view, but the map remained centered where it was in the ME. After hitting Shift-F11, I see it's not the same thing.

If I could make a suggestion... a number of times when I clear a mission, the next one to spawn is the same one, and if I was using guns for example on the last target, suddenly a SAM spawns under me and blows my doors off... May I recommend a small change to your script, I did it as follows for easy/hard/helo/etc... Ground_Missions.lua: function a2gh_start() HeloMissionNameGen() trigger.action.setUserFlag('AGH-STARTING', true) local switch; repeat switch = math.random (1,5) until switch ~= lastA2Ghelo; lastA2Ghelo = switch; Initialing lastA2Ghelo = 0 plus the 3 other ones at the top of the script. This simply prevents the same AO from spawning back to back. Also, I could be wrong, but "-create hmv" doesn't work for me, I had to add: elseif text:find("hmv") then zeusSpawn = hmv to zeus_markers.lua to make it work.
  9. Hi All, hopefully someone can help. I typically use sleep mode when my PC is not in use, and I've done it that way for as long as I can remember. I bought a new PC, and 30-40% of the time, when my PC resumes from sleep, TIR is hung, and I need to kill the process and restart it. My old PC had this problem as well, but I can't remember how I resolved it. I went into device manager and disabled "Allow PC to put this device to sleep" on all USB Hubs etc, and disabled it through the power management profile. I could have sworn that's how I fixed it on my old rig, but it's still happening now. Any ideas? I'm currently using a bat file to nuke it and restart every launch, but I'm curious what the issue is here. Edit: TrackIR 4, Software 5.4.2.27545
  10. Pretty small? Maybe we're not talking about the same thing... Its got numerous hand bunkers and the US main airbase in the region. Its the airport I would assume most missions would use, I guess I'm in the minority lol.
  11. Can someone explain why Al Tanf US airbase is completely modeled, yet is missing the airfield designation on the map and I can't place any aircraft there?

  14. The detail of the map is spectacular, and really sets a new bar for quality maps in DCS. The villages in Caucasus now look like a joke, and the Persian Gulf is just too barren. Syria is a good blend of dessert with some foliage with large cities, which will make some very interesting missions. No more tanks sitting around a town made up of a single spire with card-board cutout houses in Caucasus. The 6 tanks look larger than the entire village, and in google maps, it's an entire suburb, it looks like the size of a childrens playschool house in the back yard. smh. My only complaint about the map is that, I kind of expected it to be used in anti-ISIS style missios and campaigns, and contain... Syria... and yet... it's missing half of Syria, and more importantly, the ISIS controller area along the Syrian and Iraq border. This map should have, and should be renamed to the Levant map, because that's exactly what it's representing. Can't call something the Syria map and leave half of it out... At least Raqqa is in there. I'm referring to this: Source: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-27838034 One extra MGRS grid to the right would have captures all of that. Anyway, enough ranitng, its beautiful and there is plenty of dirt to pound, I'll make the best of it. :thumbup:

A few map options issues in the ME: 1) Geographical Grid (already reported but it wasn't noted that the grid actually does appear when zoomed in, it disappears when zoomed out) 2) Railway/Roads: When zoomed in, the railways properly disappear when delselected in the map options, however at lower zoom levels (zoomed out), the railway re-appears and is now controlled by the roads toggle. 3) Obviously related to 2, railways toggle on and off with roads when zoomed out. 4) The political borders are part of "roads", and they are a different shade of red compared to the roads. I'm not 18 anymore, could you use a different color so they are apparent and could you make them not part of road, perhaps always visible?
  17. It would be nice if political borders were more visible and named in the mission editor and F10 map. I can see an outline of the countries, but when it comes to Syria for example, they are difficult to follow, it would be nice to perhaps even have an overlay and certainly to have the countries labeled.

  19. Wow, in flight from now on it is then :) I just grabbed a "hot start" 18 a few mins ago and noticed the dial is set to IFA. I've always moved it to NAV after alignment was complete. Should the dial be set to IFA during flight, or is this a new bug of the hot start?
  20. I see a lot of complaints on the SLAM, myself included. Yes it's, old and shouldn't be compared to a JSOW, that would be a comparison for the SLAM-ER, and yes the video isn't optimal, perhaps realistic, perhaps not, but... my biggest complaint for the SLAM is it's terminal profile. For me, the biggest issue is that I feel its too lazy in the terminal phase, slowly panning downwards, and by the time its pointing down enough to even see the target in the DDI, I have just enough time to "nudge" it, one way or the other. Seems to me it should have a more aggressive downwards profile to provide more time to see the impact point and make adjustments. Picture says 1000 words, but my MS Paint skills are limited, see attached. Anyone know where we could get some info on what the terminal profile should look like? Anyone find low/med/high flight setting makes a difference? I tried high thinking it would buy more time, but it feels like it just takes even longer to point downwards. Attached photo depicts to me what it currents acts like on the left, and how I feel it should be on the right (red missile, green where it's looking, black, the arc of the terminal profile).

  24. Finished a flight over Syria in the F-18, nice... switched to a helo, wow, incredible detail. It's almost a shame to fly at altitude. There's a whole world down there... Seems even with no weather there's quite a haze, hiding all that beautiful work.
  25. Same... some instant action free flight would have been nice.
