  1. Iraq's Baghdad performance was a scary surprise. I hope the map is properly ironed out on its autogen to make room in hardware power for the actual missions and scenarios for the average joe's computer, especially in multiplayer in densely populated locations.
  2. Oh no. Please everyone, DO NOT TURN OFF your Windows Firewall or Windows Defender. That's a bad idea. Only do this. It is enough to never see this issue again. It is/was also standard on another simulator with some avionics modeling. Also the Windows Defender is wrongly flagging other open source projects that are checked for malware code: Make an Exclusion on the whole DCS root folder on your anti-virus, including Windows Defender. Do a repair. Usual path for files and folder exclusion management (windows 11 in english): Search for "windows security" in the search bar Virus & Threat Protection At 'Virus & Threat Protection Settings', click on 'manage settings' Bottom of the page click on 'add or remove exclusions' Add the whole DCS root Folder. This is it. Don't touch Windows Firewall.
  3. Hi, Arcc. Rename your DCS 'saved games' folder to something like DCS_OLD and try to launch a mission. Your settings will be reset for the time being. Usual path: C:\Users\<yourusernameinwindows>\Saved Games\DCS If you're able to launch, there is something on your old folder messing up with the sim. I saw that you have a few things on scripts including 'moving map' addon. See if renaming 'scripts' folder to 'scripts_old' can make the sim run normally again. Edit: do what BIGNEWY mentioned too.
  4. The HUD + heatblur interference fix alone is worth celebration! o/ Still waiting for the Tomcat vfx upgrades from Heatblur especially the overwing/fuselage vapor in line with what their Phantom has. Sad to not see anything related to Heatblur on the notes.
  5. If that's true, people are missing out BIG time. This kind of hurts to hear. It enriches so much a sortie, especially in co-op. Some situations with weather ends up generating hilarious outcomes. (I got yelled at because I made the mission and the tanker altitude ended up in the soup . Worth it.) To think players are omitting this kind of experience either alone or with friend is kind of saddening. I'm working on a reference points AAR tutorial-lite 'series' with 2D in mind because of some noise around AAR in DCS. You just gave me another reason to push this task up in priority thinking the reason we don't have new tankers is because people don't want or can't engage in AAR. I had to vent, because I enjoy a lot of AAR and know how many problems it has in DCS to the point of wanting an overhaul asap. I know it won't happen soon, but the state seems like just 'being left behind'. Fair skies
  6. Can you raise your pagefile to 30gb and see if it is smoother? I have a 12600kf and haven't needed to unpark any core. 30gb on pagefile, 64gb system ram. All smooth.
  7. I now remember this tanker on lock on after the mentions. DCSW needs a serious overhaul on AAR in several fronts, especially the basket not retracting after the tanker disconnects from the aircraft due to refueling completion ending up clipping/entering the cockpit. Besides that, other tankers are more than welcome, especially for time period accuracy. It is been a bit immersion breaking refueling the F-4E with the KC-135 on a scenario intended to be in the 70s at the moment.
  8. I mean... It is not always about range, but to avoid that turn around time cycle an aircraft takes after landing if some serious CAP is going on. Netherlands also has the F-16, which is notorious to have small legs. (I know it was likely a joke)
  9. You're not flying it properly. You don't have enough air speed to pull off this pitch angle and stick deflection. The beep is an AoA warning, it doesn't mean anything having more stick deflection aft before the AoA warning sounds. It is working as it should. Aim for 180+ kts for hard maneuvers and do them in smaller inputs.
  10. The beep is the AoA warning. When it does, it means you're essentially air breaking with the wings with how high the angle of attack is. If you hear it, you need to push the stick forward to be able to gain speed and stabilize the flight. At rotation, your plane went 20º+ nose up towards 40º later, the standard is only 10º Refer to the page 587 of the Warthog Manual for the take off numbers. ...\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\A-10C_2\Doc or ...\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\A-10C\Doc: During takeoff roll, maintain directional control using nosewheel steering until flight controls become effective. Disengage nosewheel steering at 70 KIAS. At approximately 10 knots prior to takeoff speed, pull back on the control stick and establish a pitch angle of 10 degrees. Rotation is generally around 135 knots with a combat load. With pitch established at 10 degrees, let the aircraft fly itself off the runway. Do not yank back on the stick to get the aircraft airborne! It should read In:0 and out:0 (zero). A bit of lack of precision in the center is not the end of the world and you always can manually compensate. You might have a stick that's not properly centered/calibrated on the Y axis as you shown on the picture. You either need to calibrate, replace the stick or adjust manually or with trim in flight for the stick current calibration. Double check your bindings for trim as well. Don't forget to disable the 'game flight mode' in DCS options as that's not supported anymore. By looking at your video, the rotation was way too abrupt and your plane was already looking at 15º degree nose up before lift off. A couple of seconds later you were at 30º pitch. Refer to the manual and video references for the A-10C take off. Your reaction should be to push the stick forward.
  11. From May, last year. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/changelog/release/2.9.5.55300/
  12. For the curious, Falklands Islands in summer and winter textures:
  13. 'Refurbished Pit' is a mod. It has nothing to do with the product. It comes with 'default' and 'chinese', afaik.
  14. (steam hw survey) (yes, it is a good platform to sample)
  15. Crank up these two sliders. (make it three with 'in-cockpit' as well) If it is still not loud (they definitely are), you either has some hardware limitation or else. Edit: Are you referring with fly by sounds exclusively? If so, some planes are indeed dull from distance. ED made ones are loud while others can be a bit too quiet while flying by. Some inconsistencies there for sure.
  16. This is native DCS motion blur. Looks nice on 'High' and intensity lowest on the slider. I didn't mess with it much since I turned it on. For me it is on my sweetspot already. It makes nice captures and eases the eye on a locked 40fps that I prefer. It makes low level flying more intense too. Feels real. I dropped the ball not editing the mirrors as the native motion blur doesn't act there, but it is everything ingame besides the manual color grading on PS on that shot.
  17. Can be neither too, as I stated. Just dim it at night and it is a non issue.
  18. Yw! I don't know. Unfortunately I've never sat in one, let alone at night. It can be a limitation on the backlight tech for its time as lamps and stencils, or can be a limitation of how it was implemented into the sim. Nevertheless, it can be worked around.
  19. Try dimming the backlights so the characters gets sharper. Never use full brightness at night on the Tomcat.
  20. Check for unlimited ammunition check box on DCS main menu option and in the mission options if you made the mission yourself. You have to take it easy on learning the module. First, get familiar with the core sim and options such as unlimited ammunition, then start slow by flying the aircraft in a proper manner before trying anything with weapons. You're only overwhelming your experience by getting it all at once. Cheers, have fun.
  21. This has nothing to do with what I wrote.
