I'm not going against OP, but you know you made a good product when the complaints are for something so......... small. A change in material for the HUD's emitter lens similar to what the F-16 module from ED would be nice, but that in no way affects my experience. I didn't realized it was a texture from a photo until now.

A few tours for the curious. A couple of videos from the latest update with the winter textures in 2.9.11 and another one from the previous update in 2.9.8.

Thank you silverdevil, I'll do that.

As Phantom711 pointed above. ATFLIR is for carrier ops, Litenings are usually used by USMC and foreign forces to the US in airfield based ops. If you want to follow historical realistic payload, use ATFLIR on carriers and Litening for everything else. Litening pods internals are not rated for carrier ops, literature on this is on the internet and perhaps in the manual, but you're free to chose. Back to the HUD and HMD symbology, I guess that is correct about the LITENING on the Hornet as its operation differs from the ATFLIR in DCS. IDK about IRL, but the focus is to get going working in the sim and to clear confusion.
-
Time stamps added. Yeah, the ATFLIR is a tad different but you just want to follow the caret/diamond to check if it is ground stabilized or not. Once you get going with it, it's hard to forget, no worries. IDK. That's something to check out. Just to get something added to the actual plane the thread is related. On the Viper, there is a constant designation/nav shift whenever you move a sensor, hence the need of the CZ. Which is completely different from the Hornet where your plane creates a new point, hence why it is a bit misleading when using the same workflow on both.

Oh no! I disagree the thread can be closed. The issue still is present. The noise still there and the sharpening filter is needed for the temporal and upscalling techniques! There is a new noise introduced since the fog update that degraded image quality by quite a margin. The sharpening filter just makes it more apparent. Right now at video editing. The noise making an apparent unwanted pattern shown on the water area at the bottom left. This effect shows on several other occasions and not only on water.

If you're reffering to the TGT diamond, half correct. Once you press TDC, the diamond is updated live and as you slew the TPOD on both. the HUD and HMD. If you press 'undesignate', it goes away. Here it is how it behaves on the HUD and after pressing 'undesignate' removing ground stabilization. Time Stamps: ATFLIR on right DDI. SCS to the right to select the right DDI. 0:00 ATFLIR is ground stabilized with TDC press. 0:12 'undesignate' button is pressed. ATFLIR is not ground stabilized anymore locked into an azimuth/elevation in relation to the plane. Cross symbology is shown. 0:22 TDC is pressed. ATFLIR regained ground stabilization and a new TGT is set. 0:25 'undesignate' button is pressed once again and TGT is lost. 0:28 looking to the right with the HMD. 'SCS' Forward to bring up the aiming reticle. 0:29 TDC is pressed and a new TGT is set where the HMD reticle was and the ATFLIR is pointing right at it. 0:30... further slewing of the ATFLIR.

My F-4 is activated at this moment. No issues. 1-Make an exception on the whole DCS root folder on your anti virus(es), including windows defender. Authorization files are being wrongly flagged as threats for a good while. (issue not exclusive to DCS). 2-verify/repair DCS (fast method).

If you disable DLSS and only run with DLAA, does this pattern you got becomes thinner and less obvious just like what it shows on my screenshots?
-
Hey, Lord_Pyro. Are you using DLSS or any upscalling tech by any chance? If you use DLAA, does the issue exist?
-
Hi silver. DLAA, Screenshot from DCS output itself in 'saved games' with 'print screen' key. The issue is not exclusive to screenshots. While playing you can see it, the only way to show on the forum, of course is with screenshots. 1080p. The issue was not existent before with the same settings. Image was super clear. Again, it is not the output of a capture. Is in the actual live image. I've been editing DCS screenshots for the past 4 years just for fun. This homogeneous noise added was abruptly noticed. These are raw output (PNG) with the same ingame settings as well as control panel settings (default). BEFORE: AFTER: Notice how there is a checkered pattern on flat areas especially on the aircraft fuselage.

I can only see ED making a Full Fidelity F-15A, given the patterns of their product. No upgrades/remasters, just like the upcoming stand alone Full Fidelity MiG-29A which is completely detached from its Flaming Cliffs sibling being another variant.

I some issue like this. I was about to look for a thread on it. I think it was already posted, although I can't seem to find it. If I find it I'll link it here. Edit: Looking more carefully, I think we have different issues given the phenomenon on your image doesn't continue towards those mountains in the upper portion. Indeed can be a shader issue. Delete fxo and metashaders 2 in saved games if you havent. Mine is like a checkerboard effect on the whole image, not just shadows. This becomes problematic especially when editing an image. It can also make 'harmonics' with your LCD screen if you change the image zoom from DCS, like on your example. It can appear as lines or dots in pattern. In gameplay, I would prefer something clean instead of this if it was added intentionally. I already had my fxo and metashaders2 folders cleaned up.

Any ETA for the Meatball fix? Since the last big patch, it is been complicated missing the meatball especially with the Tomcat. (I don't use the overlay)

This was my second flight through the map, although the plan was to make a video of the first one in order to get the most genuine curiosity driven reactions/movements, while not skipping interesting details with 'because I've seen it before I'll just ignore' kind of deal. Reason being: OBS has reset the video inputs after unplugging monitors for room cleaning meaning the first flight recording was a flat black screen. ....still, on the second flight, the awe was just as powerful as the first one. It is rough on the edges, but imo, ED has crafted a very important gem for flight simulation here. Just by comparing PG's Iran with Iran on this map, you can see a severe difference in the portrait of vegetation in mountains and mountains themselves, and Iran is not inside the high detailed area as you can see several town villages missing all of its buildings in the area. One big concern I have with the map is the performance over areas with buildings. It pulls too much on GPUs compared to other maps and no LOD setting changes things. Even on small villages compared to massive cities in maps such as Syria. I hope for performance/optimizations patches for it. At the moment, I cannot imagine dense fights over and inside Baghdad let alone inside a F-4E. Images bellow from Baghdad and mostly Iraq-Iran border. Note: Vis Range is set to 'Ultra' in my settings. 1 notch bellow Extreme.

I've set visibility setting to Ultra since the first DCS World build. Large cities always suffered with 'high' or less, this is just like it is in Caucasus.

Shadow over map... the Monoliths must be arriving!!
Czar replied to ectomia's topic in Weather System Bugs & Problems
OP, try to erase the 'metashaders2' and 'fxo' folders inside DCS Saved Games folder. I had issues with clouds having corrupted visuals and that solved it. Maybe it will help it too, although I haven't flown in Caucasus. -
Honestly, same here. But people have different tastes. I just wish for more 3d autogen, not heavier textures, or every map would weight 200gb-300gb+. Good enough for me, personally. I'm watching this on PC. Complete Map: Access to the full Iraqi terrain with essential features. I guess this answers my previous question about it featuring the Gulf to put carriers on. I hope this is right.
-
Does it feature water to put carriers in? It doesn't matter if the southern portion is still in low fidelity. Thanks.
