oooooooooooo I was about to ask for any trick to do exactly that. Many thanks! Saved to my DCS documents. Now I have an idea how my previous 'Open Beta' installation kept linked to that old DCS.OpenBeta folder in 'saved games' in my end, after the fact of the merge between stable and OB.
-
Any roadblock you've found from just copying and paste the DCS files to another location? Both will share the same DCS 'saved games' folder, so you'd want to put mods in the root folder only.
-
I also share that 'learn by doing' belief. That's how I learn the Hornet. For the hornet, I used mostly the manual included. Path: DCS World\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Doc, the chuck's guide at the time (google) and youtube videos. Mostly was manual reading. I don't remember booting any training missions and I had a smooth learning flow on the bird. The manual included is already excellent. Try to evolve through steps before smart weapons and carrier landings. CCIP first, then CCRP, etc... If you don't overwhelm yourself mixing too many different stuff at once, the bird is nice and fast to learn. Practice is king, especially with the HOTAS commands. For single player: see the 'playgrounds' on user files, see or create a way to make a dynamic scenario through the mission editor and check out Briefing Room for DCS. The later has been my go to experience for a few months now.

Any of these has to be it. I'm waiting for these Cobras for a while now.

Fps drops from around 120 to 30 every 10 seconds or so
Czar replied to PatientSquire27's topic in Game Performance Bugs
What is your GPU? It can be the bottleneck with certain gfx parameters turned on in DCS. Disable that 'turbo' mode, keep everything default on hardware. Set 'Terrain Object Shadows' to FLAT if your GPU ends up at 100% when the drops happen. The performance taken from the 'default' shadowmaps is immense and can induce violent fps differences. It is odd from 120 to 30fps though. -
You're comparing different aircraft generations. The role of technology is to make things 'easier', so did the F-16 in comparison to 3rd gen fighters. Lack of 'know better'. The more time you spend on flight sims, the more you'll prefer old and challenging tech because is more rewarding. Modern modules are shinny attractions. Albeit fun indefinitely, the real meat of the matter will always be the lack of automation in operating a simulated aircraft, including fancy HUDs and all aspect homing IR missiles. I too love the Viper, Hornet, A-10C, F-15E any day of the week. But the F-4E, and similar era jets, just steals the scene. It will be highly likeable module, if faithfully made then.

Why is my CCIP all messed up , and why bombs fall so much short of target?
Czar replied to hreich's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
No way that's a valid CCIP cue given your velocity vector is not giving out a heavy cross wind component. Align your INS properly. -
Preload radius don't affect RAM usage, require restart
Czar replied to BJ55's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Hi, Max. How is that? You keep the preload radius on minimum? -
The Vikhr smoke within the Shkval scope absolute murders GPU usage. This is especially problematic low above forests in the Marianas map. This is maybe 40% of the reasons I don't fly the Ka-50 that much. This is ongoing since Black Shark 2, if I'm not mistaken. Too much time has passed without a resolution on this issue of optimization.

Also, to add: On OPs stores page screenshot, there should be a missile icon (circle with 4 fins outwards) on where the remaining AMRAAM is and not a diamond. It has to be a Mod inducing this or a very strict scenario. If you get 0 (zero) on AMRAAMs it means you have NO AMRAAMs left, just like in the other types of A-A missiles.
-
Not if the only remaining are one type only. It keeps on Cs if you spent all Bs and vice versa. It only shows 0 (zero) if you switch to Sparrows and you have none, or if you switch to Sidewinders and you have none. It will only show 0 (zero) on AMRAAMs if you have zero AMRAAMs left, regardless of type.
-
hmmmm.... it should automatically select the 120C after the Bs are gone, though. I'm doing some tests and I can't reproduce. It always goes to the Cs (or the remaining type) without the ability to select back the depleted type. Try to reproduce this behavior and if successful, remove the mods and see if it fixes. It should indeed select the Cs or the remaining type automatically. All AMRAAMS firing without issues. Mixed types. Tested with mixed types on wings as well. AMRAAMS firing no issues.trk

Yes! I wanted that! I saw your work in progress on the other thread. Thanks!

Happy to have you here, compatriota. That would require a paid expansion for the module or even a different module because of the sheer amount of new stuff. Our FAB F-5s EM has entirely new avionics outside Northrop production, another radar and that's just skimming the surface. EMs also carry the Litening III and a jammer pod that are not currently in DCS. A lot of work to be done (still an understatement) and other projects would naturally assume a much higher priority for ED. (F-15C, MiG-29, F-35...) There are so much content potential for the F-5, it is ridiculous indeed.

cannot reproduce Designating a static target with HMD
Czar replied to demon702's topic in Bugs and Problems
Hi, @demon702. See my track. Fly the instant action for the Hornet called "Weapons Practice" in Caucasus map. Turn JHMCS knob to 'on' -> Set A-G mode -> Open a FLIR page -> Look outside and SCS Forward -> Segmented Ring Apear -> TDC Depress (Throttle Designator Controller) -> Flir will lock onto the area you designated perfectly. To move the flir you have to press SCS to the FLIR screen direction, example: FLIR is set on the Right DDI = SCS Right. If I look away, the Flir stays where it was designated. Only the ATFLIR updates live the diamond designation as you slew it, afaik. The one on this track is the Litening. To demon702.trk -
Fascinating, I've learned a few things here, thank you. I stand corrected about the rest. Thank you. ED's stance doesn't look as convincing. I couldn't read/verify the: "World Airpower Journal, Vol 25, 1996". "PEACE HAWK: A CASE STUDY OF A FOREIGN MILITARY SALES PROGRAM AND ITS MANAGEMENT", good quick read.

Ok, I don't know about the wags quote but the rest holds ground. But a few things here: I'm struggling to find info for that. If any source is available and post able here, it would be good to see and substantiate the claim that is dragging for years now. Did the E really done that from the factory? Those upgrades were done much later after those Es were fully delivered. I too would love some mavs and AAR, and especially 4x A-A missiles. I'd love to have the AAR, as my country did own the EM variant with capability of carrying A-A (fox 1 or 3, I don't remember) missiles under the wings, Litening III pods and jammers along with complete avionics overhaul. That variant would be crazy wild (absolute dream) to have in DCS, although would diverge by a lot from the initial E model. I'd love to read more about the Saudi F-5Es, but those upgrades were done after those Es were in active duty. Likely is my personal #1 wish is for the F-5 module to have a expansion pack for many of these variants. I still can't fault ED to make the bare bone 5E which is used in Red Flag and you never see an AAR probe in them, for example. Having said that, I dislike any resistance to make the other variants available either, even if that means a paid expansion pack to pair the price with other more complex modules to reward the work done on the new integrations. Happy flying out there.
-
Why isn't the module called F-5N instead?
-
The variant we have in DCS didn't carry missiles under the wing. Only overhauled variants did. (perhaps inacurate). This discussion comes and goes since the module released. I'm all for new variants to come (paid pack) for current modules, especially for the F-5E, though. It is a very special module to me. It would suffice a Tiger III variant as an 'expansion' for me, personally... or even the 'S', or 'EM'. Others would also be very much welcomed, but the E we have never had the capability of carrying missiles (A/A) under the wing.

Have you reduced Visibility Range to Ultra or Lower? On your Log file it was 'extreme'. -

Parked Cores 2025-03-31 08:59:38.821 WARNING EDCORE (Main): CPU HAS PARKED LOGICAL CORES (this can be source of stuttering and reduced performance especially on hybrid CPUs with P/E-cores) See: https://www.dannymoran.com/windows-cpu-core-parking/ Turn down your visibility range to Ultra or lower if unparking cores doesn't help. Extreme vis range can cause weird frame drops. Turn off Mods. Make exclusions on your AV of DCS root folder and DCS inside 'Saved Games'. -

I will do it today when I have the time. Thanks for the heads up.
