https://lco.global/spacebook/sky/using-angles-describe-positions-and-apparent-sizes-objects/ The human finger tip covers about 1º to 1,5º. The moon has 31 arcminutes or 1/2°. If the VR hand is in proper scale, it is possible that it can be off by a little too for usability, DCS seems correct. You can try to photograph the moon at 1x at any day of the year, the results will always be mediocre if the composition doesn't ask for a tiny satellite. Been there, done that.

Problem on Intel 13th & 14th Gen CPUs.
Czar replied to Devrim's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Once you render a scene on any 3D program or render a video, these CPUs are hitting full throttle until the task gets done. For people who constantly renders videos and people who work with 3D, this issue is major. The 14900 owner just need to do rendering for either video or 3D to stress their CPUs, and that's very common for high end CPU owners. These tasks pushes CPUs to 100% no matter what, hence a fairly reliable benchmark tool. -
The measurement should be done with a HUD like draconus did. The Apache screenshot has a much wider FOV than any of the pictures above. If comparison would take place, it should be the same exact FOV from the cameras. From observation, the photos have a much narrower FOV than the usual DCS gameplay, as you need peripheral vision. To add, DCS has little to no outer glow for the Moon, making it look smaller than the real life shots counterpart. All these elements needs to be taken into account. Take shots from the moon IRL with as much wide FOV your camera has towards 1x zoom and you'll see just a spot of light and not a ball. FOV is important guys.... disregard the 'feelings'..... 'Warthog HUD' Thanks for the measurement and hard data. Too much 'I feel like' around these forums... Example for the moon at 1x and 30x zoom: https://r2.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-Gallery/Moon-1x-and-30x-zoom/td-p/14817034

I'm looking out for impressions from owners as well. From the recent update, and how the map feels today.

I don't know what you're on about. I can't comment on it.

"Public" is not the right word. "Unclassified" is. It has been stated by community managers and staff countless times against sharing leaked documents, even worse using them for development. Keyword is: "leaked".

Understood, but wasn't Belsintek absorbed by ED, hence ED started pumping out helicopters after? This would be why I'd presume the pipeline would stay as they were. The Apache ended up coming out although it is really a no brainer to build a module for it.. Thanks btw.

but...but but... the Cobra. : ( AH-1S Huey Cobra was/is on the pipeline. https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/248262-weekend-newsletters-2018/?do=findComment&comment=3517055

Press 'M' or click on the mirror to turn them on if you find yourself already into the mission.

Make an exception on your AV(s) for the whole DCS root folder -> Repair DCS -> Log in. +1 to this. There is no difference on files after a re installation in comparison to a repair while repairing is 100x+ faster. Keep the massive DCS files for ever. Only Repair and Update it as you please. File deletion troubleshooting is only valid for game saves files on your 'user' folder outside DCS root folder, and those files are automatically generated on DCS launch.

reported earlier HMCS Display Malfunctions are still present
Czar replied to MatzWarhog's topic in Bugs and Problems
This need a hotfix... With the ending of the Open Beta branch to consolidate everyone into a single version and the promise of having a better QA would mean issues like this wouldn't get through final patches. -
I can agree to that for the design part. Placing, copying, organizing etc leaves a lot to be desired. Very old indeed, but still powerful with its native trigger mechanics. Maybe with the Dynamic Campaign AI goodies, some of perceived limitations can be mitigated like the autonomous AI tasking, so less can be dependent from outside scripting. Fair skies.

Nº 1 for me: Dynamic Campaign. Nº 2 for me: Higher fidelity damage model for ground units. It is likely that if you research and spend enough time with the editor, amazing things can be done including dynamic scenarios with it.

DCS World 2024 Screenshots and Video Thread

Is your monitor, GPU control panel color settings, reshade injector color correction or in game gamma settings blowing up the white values? It is not the first complaint I see here where people are struggling with HUDs and bright weather elements and I wonder if the many injectors and adjustments for eye candy many flock into using without proper care towards image fidelity. I'm wondering if the issue lies there, if I understood the post correctly. Gamma at 2.2 images bellow. Btw, you can quote me and send an image or a description of time and day + map and we can figure it out how to mitigate the issue before relying on any visual DCS update.

Where is CCIP drop cross when there is a designated HUD target
Czar replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Press TDC to designate a point on the ground, or WPDSG to designate the current selected waypoint on the SA page or HSI page. Then you'll see the ASL and release queue when close enough to the target. Page 320 on the manual. When you undesignate, there is no point of interest for targeting as far as I remember. Don't mix CCIP with designating a target with any sensor. Undesignate to get to CCIP to pickle, or remain on AUTO to CCRP the ordinance. If you want the diamond, keep on CCRP and release the ordinance in a dive or level adhering with the ASL centered with the velocity vector for precision. Don't mix the F-16C or other aircraft methods with the Hornet. -
I didn't capture that to match the video. That was years ago and before the FCS update. I showed the rear end being pushed around like OP mentioned. It is possible to do much close to what the video shows. There is nothing "extremely unstable" phenomenon if you pull high AoA and maneuvers in the 18 if you know how to handle the plane. Mushy? Yes. Extremely unstable? Exaggerating. Go to 5k to 10k ft -> F3 camera -> zoom in (rCtrl + *) -> play with it.
-
This was a while back and it is possible to do slower and better. It was really sloppy too on my part. Yaw and Roll to the same direction while pulling on the stick. Mess around with the F3 view zoomed in on a safe altitude and play with the plane like you're controlling a RC plane and you'll get the point.

Same mission on both? Wildly strange if so.

I'm sorry, but in 2D at 1080p there is nothing like "big black dot". I agree with you on the rest. There are issues with the black dot with some setups but not in 2d 1080p. It is still hard enough to lose sight and lose the fight often. IL-78 at 10.7 nm. 10 o'clock of the pull up light next to the Collimator sight. Edit: maybe it should be less visible at this point? I'm not sure.

Does anyone know when save game feature is coming?
Czar replied to goot66's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Understood. Agreed. But it is not self explanatory. What a 2+h mission have that a 40min to 1h mission doesn't have? If you're going for endurance. You keep at it. I don't think playing a videogame for 3h straight is good either way. Lots of young people pull 6h+ straight but that's on them, regardless of time availability. I just can't seem to pull two flights in one sitting nowadays but I don't miss anything from a 2h 40min mission I used to do. There is nothing special there, unless you're on a co-op online environment within a large operation. A lot actually, everyday. A look on Volanta or any other tracking software (it is been a while, I don't remember anything other than Volanta) will show a lot of people making cross oceanic flights and large intercontinental flights concurrently. And that's only the online users. Sure, a lack of combat action and large fuel tanks makes it possible, but it is very common. -

I'm also struggling for time. DCS is pretty brutal. But I couldn't be bothered to resume a 2+h mission next day, in fact, it would be a turn off. I'd rather continue having my 40min to 1h missions through Briefing Room for the time being. Once I get shot down I won't restart either. Up to the next, no respawns. Also one of the reasons I don't consume scripted campaings. There are many different ways to enjoy DCS, we're indeed approaching from complete different view points, and that's pretty cool actually. -

Czar replied to goot66's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Civilian flight simulators are more popular than DCS and constantly people are making 5h+ flights around the globe in one session. DCS couldn't have grown faster the last 4 years given how it is. Isn't this nitpicking the wrong parts of the sim? -

What is the advantage of resuming a 2+h mission the next day opposed to playing 40min to 1h mission fully in one sitting? Wouldn't that throw you off from the mission flow: radio frequencies, weapon settings, fuel management, overall progress, given that DCS doesn't have a game hud (thankfully) like modern games? There are also ways to pause DCS and make it draw very little power from the GPU while the PC waits for you to get back, today. GPU control panel max fps when the application is on the background. Put it on 30 or less. Pause the Mission. Minimize DCS.
