  1. The Whisky version is on BST's list. To OP:
  2. I hate this view with a passion. It should not be above and beyond, it should be considered the gold standard. Others should emulate the level of thoroughness, not put it on a pedestal and say "Oh, it's impossible to hope for that sort of quality."
  3. I'm getting a little tired of this revisionist history where LN did nothing wrong and the ravenous community saw meaning in innocent comments. Cobra started hyping the Viggen the day they announced the Tomcat. From that moment onwards, he systematically dropped hints in his news threads about the two "Mystery Modules", in his forum posts, dropping hints in his avatar and having folks like rudel post zoomed in pictures of parts of their new modules. He teased and prodded the community to build interest all the way back then. If he didn't want the community to get hyped for the module, he would have pulled a BST and said absolutely nothing. He miscalculated how long this would drag on. The Steam Leak only confirmed what we were being hinted at, but the two "Mystery Modules" were official and out there to tease the community for months before that happened.
  4. We don't know, and Cobra ain't talkin'.
  5. If I recall correctly, and mvsgas can probably shed more light on this, they're in flying storage, or something like that, where they can be reactivated in a very short period of time. In order to do that, they need to be unwrapped, filled up, flown, maintained, then re-stored every so often.
  6. Oh it certainly would piss people off. If you picked a Block 15, the folks who wanted a 40/42 or a 50/52 would be angry, if you picked a new block 50/52, the old crowd would be angry. ED cannot win in this situation frankly. Any F-16 they pick will be the "wrong one". And as for the missiles, dear god they're absoltuly awful. The joke about the missiles having drouge chutes isn't all that idle of a jest if you look at how much energy they lose the moment the engine cuts out. Hell, the most egrigious display of how god awful the current A/A missile code is was demonstrated graphically by a mirage who shot himself down with his own missile. Nope, most recent version of BMS has multiple cockpits for multiple varients, they were quite proud of it, so flying a Sufa or an MLU or a Block 40 ect all have different cockpits. And I hate to pick a fight, but BMS has hands down the very best flight model of an F-16 ever made. Straight from the NASA test data, and validated by F-16 pilots. Is the sim perfect? Hell no, but it's very much on par with what DCS has managed, and it's flight model cannot be challenged.. I'm afraid you missed my point with posting the pictures of several Block 52s. A few folks were complaining that the Block 52 was ugly because of the CFTs and the avionics spine present on some models. I was merely showing them that the plane can either look like an Ikea show room with all kinds of pods and extras strapped to every flat surface, or have the same lovely lines as every other F-16.
  7. Despite all cries to the contrary, any DCS: F-16 module will have to compete with Falcon BMS, which has multiple versions of the F-16, almost enough for everyone. Comparing yourself to that sim, which has had nearly two decades to mature, and only doing one version, which will piss off at least 60% of all the folks asking for an F-16, is exactly why we haven't gotten one. There is no win here for ED, especially not with the missile code the way it is (though it's now been slated to be improved after they finish overhauling the AG missiles), and with a lack of a dynamic campaign, the module will seem rather spartan.
  8. F-16Is are Block 52+, used by Israel, not Block 60, which are used by the UAE. The first and second last are both this variant. The second one is a Greek Block 52 and the last is a Singaporean Block 52.
  9. Remember folks: This is a Block 52: And so is this: And this: And this:
  10. But... it's a helicopter, nearly all Army Helicopters are named after Native American Tribes...
  11. The point of my linked video isn't the hud, but the Automated Carrier Landing System, my comments on the HUD were in reference to the earlier F-5 dogfight video. Doesn't matter how bad or laggy the HUD is, so long as the ACLS is modeled, you can make a landing blindfolded once you set yourself up.
  12. You could not possibly be more wrong: On the HUD, it doesn't look so bad, just the FPM. I you look at the dogfight video it seems like the symbology lags behind a bit, but the refresh rate isn't bad except on that FPM.
  13. I'm not sure about DCS right now, given the lack of a dynamic campaign, however once/if such a campaign becomes implemented, a Nighthawk wouldn't just be a module for enthusiasts. In Falcon BMS, on some theaters I would gladly trade a squadron or two of Falcons or Eagles for just a handful of Nighthawks because of their ability to slip through air defenses and hit targets behind enemy lines. Though in the current environment of DCS, I can understand some peoples lack of enthusiasm for such a specialized aircraft.
  14. The trap was bad because he was trying to give us good outside shots of the plane landing, next time give us a view from the Viggen cockpit so the poor man can focus on landing his plane on a postage stamp.
  15. Because Steam runs their own sales. If you don't like it, switch to stand alone.
  16. Yep, this definitely required its own thread.
  17. Can the F-16 even carry an MER? I've never seen one with it.
  18. The advantage that low and slow CAS has is better information, something that can be mitigated with ever advancing technology.
  19. As usual, excellent work, the cockpit is looking much more filled in than previous updates and it definitely is looking wonderful. I won't bother asking for a release ETA, but as usual, I've got a couple of questions. Will you be implementing any form of RWR? With the current limitations on guided weapons, will the display in the cockpit serve any function? Finally, I though I had asked this before but I couldn't find it; Will Sidewinders be implemented on this module?
  20. What, now? Because they can mount AMRAAMs, and the USAF is finally off of its "Oh we don't trust anything with an independent terminal guidance package" kick it had back in the early 90s.
  21. So try the Israel or Balkans theatre, it has exactly the kind of challenge you're asking for.
  22. It's far too early to tell any sort of progress. Remember, the Tucano is coming out before the Harrier, so don't really start looking into detailed information until that's out for a few months.
