Please look at tacview file, i have questions
FLANKERATOR replied to Maximus_Lazarus's topic in Multiplayer
Even a maddog could have worked if the target flew straight ahead, though in your case, the missiles found 'nothing' after switching their on-board radar on because in the meantime, your target dropped from angel 7 to the floor. The 120 used to pick a target at crazy angles, not anymore so it seems, which is more realistic. There's a countdown that lets you know when the 120 goes active, try to support it until then and your PK will rise. Of course, sometimes you can't do that if you are yourself under pressure, but this is a different topic. -

You fired from around 14nm away, then you turned back right away (no mid course updates for your missile). This means your 120's will fly to the last known location of your target, which was above 7000ft the moment you shot. However, the target started dropping in the meantime and ended up under 1000ft by the time your missiles got close enough so they must have been looking at the wrong piece of sky. Remember that a missile's radar has a very limited FOV, hence the necessity to support it until pitbull. -
ER's fired at me without but i had no clue

RWR won't work if you bank more than 30deg. -
Welcome mate. You're right, DCS is hands down, the best combat flight sim out there. Here is where all missions and campaigns are: http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=165

Getting a lock on low flying helos (F-15C)
FLANKERATOR replied to lo999's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
You must have failed to see 'on radar' after 'pick up', haven't you. Back on topic, there seems to be a ''jamming'' effect inherent to the helicopter rotor: - Robert Shaw - Fighter Combat -
Getting a lock on low flying helos (F-15C)
FLANKERATOR replied to lo999's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
Choppers should be hard to pick up on radar, especially if low and slow. -
I think that would depend on your intentions after the Cobra maneuver. Check out this video, around 4:40.

Disable the AoA limiter, stay below 500km/h and pull the stick all the way back.

I think that FC has more than half of what a hifi sim needs and the smooth transitioning into implementing more features is still in progress. Marketing-wise, I would do the same (keep feeding the market while improving the product). That is also good to prevent the community from scattering. Seriously, it's about to get AFM's, what's left? clickable cockpits and updated avionics. I personally feel we're heading there, slowly but surely. I'd rather prefer to see FC growing gradually than having to wait forever for a prefect sim that will never be perfect.

Beautiful! Great work whoever designed that! Please ED, keep an eye on the game FPS and stability as well.

Bear also in mind English speaking skills! Not everybody speaks English fluently, so it's always more pressure when you have to think your words when chatting, let alone speak in combat. Those people would also struggle with comprehension when natives speak, especially certain accents. Of course a welcoming TS is an excellent way to get fluent in English.

Operation ''Tuckstonia''- Online PvP Campaign
FLANKERATOR replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Hey Maverick, that was very much à la Maverick ;) -
I think that's exactly what's all about in DCS. It might be cool to do coop ground-pounding for a while against predictable and limited AI or for training purpose, though I believe that wouldn't cut it in the long run. DCS is a battlefield "simulator", and there are very few to no AI controlled units on a RL battlefield. I'd say, let AI fill the gap when necessary, but try to make it PvP as much as possible, that's IMO where the whole fun and DCS future are.

Yes, time for some action gents :) -
Tacview is worth a thousand words, scroll down, download and watch the Final, it's a good example of teamwork and F-15/Su-27 rivalry in DCS: http://forum.51st.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2703

Radar Tests: VERY VERY unusual results.
FLANKERATOR replied to USARStarkey's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
AFAIK, both radars are very close in game when it comes to emitting power and that is the case since the early FC versions. One way to verify it (in-game) is to watch the LED's on the SPO, both fighters will fill same number of LED's from the same distance. This is 'in game', RL may be different. -

Hey Ax! Thanks for the kind words I do share your enthusiasm buddy, not only DCS is getting unbelievably gorgeous (those images of the upcoming Su-33 are almost photo-realistic), but the stability is improving as well and I'm sure ED will keep that high on the to-do-list in the upcoming builds. I'm curious to know what they actually did, was it the combination of isolated bugs or rather the crashing/re-spawning trend that some reported or maybe memory related issues...anyways, it's much better now and I hope it will remain like that. -

Encouraging. Large means how many players connected at the same time, roughly? -

Yes, forums are separate from the main site so they are not affected and are still up, same for tactical planning rooms so you should still have access to those if you were part of it : http://www.sa-sim.com/wp-content/forums/index.php
