So this is just a brief statement but I wanted to say that today we have committed a long awaited radar fix. This is both to cure drastic framerate drops and loss of contact at lower altitudes. This fix was in testing for the past week and based on the tests conducted internally there seems to be no performance degradation with radar turned on. I did a few stress tests and placed for example 15 planes in front of me along with heavy clouds and still FPS was up there. Similarly in heavy jamming situation or flying in Caucasus valleys. However keep in mind that testing by its nature was limited to a few people so something might need tweaking . Furthermore, this fix is a very significant code rework for the radar and while its functionality is checked, again, its possible that smaller issues might be revealed. So right now this is in ED hands and hopefully it will make it to the patch before Christmas.

The lack of radar contacts is direct consequence of work on radar performance fix. As Ive said sometime ago, we attempted to improve the situation by reducing the amount of clutter. However, as the number of objects displayed on the radar screen decreased, targets started vanishing as well. This is why spotting higher is not a problem, but low its problematic. So this two issues are connected.

Yes, we are aware. For over 7 months. And we are working on a fix. We released already a few attempted fixes, but they did not produce results that were expected. As a matter of fact I have been testing a new fix tonight, which at least on my PC solved the problem. I saw no FPS drops be it in clouds or right over the ground. Of course it will require further testing before will be submitted, but I hope this will be it. Unfortunately, it doesnt come without drawbacks.

Yes. Instead of autumn one, there will be Christmas one. With full Corsair I'm sorry for the delay, but first Corsair and than MiG-21bis radar fix tests occupied us.
-
Tagomago, I will forward them to the team. Thank you for submitting

Yeah, I've seen that a few times. Defender has its ups and downs.
-
It's false, dont worry. DCS frequently gives some warnings here and there.

I have experienced today three engine failures, however due to proximity to airfield, I was able to land and repair. Still, its the first time I've ever flown this aircraft that failures like this occurred. First time when flying from Goulet to Mauperitus and cruising at 7 km. I had about 1.2 Ata so certainly nothing that would stress engine or cause overheat since I was cruising at 400+ km/h indicated. Second time this happened when I noticed a contact and pushed rapidly throttle forward, also engaging WEP. Contact turned out to be friend so I throttled back to 1.3 Ata. After few moments I started hearing weird sounds from the engine, as if metal parts were hitting or shaft was damaged. Not sure. After landing with minimal power, engine on idle was in this limbo of jumping from 0.6 Ata to 0.8 Ata. Little power from engine was available. Third time after repairing, engine died when I was in a fight with P-47D in spiral down. This time I could say that it was my fault, was climbing aggressively at full power after P-47 and than following loops. However it failed when we were in a spiral and speed was increasing so still weird. I've been flying D-9 frequently a year ago, than stopped. Returning for a few flights I'm very surprised as to what is happening. I try to warm it prior to flight, not to fly for prolonged periods at full power but still engine failures were much more common than I remember.

I will forward your reported issue. EDIT: After reviewing log I think this is issue that ED Customer Support has to look at. Please send them your report.

I'm sorry but this is so far from the truth ... last update wasn't half a year ago but exactly two months ago and neither was it small: https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/news/official-updates/201318-dcs-world-2-5-changelog-and-updates-of-open-beta?p=6430667#post6430667 It not only fixed the FM issues, but contained a complete revamp of IR missiles. Plus instant action missions were added to Syria. Prior to that we had one in August: https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/news/official-updates/201318-dcs-world-2-5-changelog-and-updates-of-open-beta?p=6389994#post6389994 One in July: https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/news/official-updates/201318-dcs-world-2-5-changelog-and-updates-of-open-beta?p=6329131#post6329131 Three in June: https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/news/official-updates/201318-dcs-world-2-5-changelog-and-updates-of-open-beta?p=6273584#post6273584 https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/news/official-updates/201318-dcs-world-2-5-changelog-and-updates-of-open-beta?p=6271729#post6271729 including a major module overhaul: https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/news/official-updates/201318-dcs-world-2-5-changelog-and-updates-of-open-beta?p=6252044#post6252044 And one in March: https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/news/official-updates/201318-dcs-world-2-5-changelog-and-updates-of-open-beta?p=6095089#post6095089 For the most part those are mentioned monthly updates. Current most important issue related to MiG-21bis is its radar performance drop, which exists for over half a year now and despite sincere attempts could not be fixed previously. So thats MiG-21bis focus. I constantly report other MiG-21bis related issues, however they are of lower priority right now due to legal obligations demanding focus on F4U-1D Corsair. Wheel and suspension issues are known and reported, I dont know of any heatblur issue for client aircraft, did you fill bug report in Mantis for it ? As for afterburner smoke this is reported as well. Sounds for the DCS cannot be taken from youtube. We would like to obtain samples of MiG-21 engine but due to COVID any services of this nature are impossible, not to mention that last remaining MiG-21 aircraft are in military service and its not possible to get close to them. We had opportunity to obtain very high quality recordings of the F4U-1D Corsair, if opportunity to obtain such for MiG-21 appears, it will be considered for sure.

F-14A should stay, its just that we need earlier version which HB is still cooking, with older weapons.

Upload the log please from that or any other attempt to launch it. I dont have that issue and havent heard of anyone else having it but of course its necessary to look into what is causing problems for you ;)

Which missions ? Name them. I mentioned one mission. You consider other unbalanced or in favor of RED ? Name it. But dont imply I'm ok with something, because its only your assumption.
-
Cool but you still dont get the point. Has, If, With ... it all means RED needs to involve air assets on BOTH sides of map. BLUE does not have to, especially in Minakh advance.
-
Damn, I actually like Prince of Persia. It was vast and as a helo pilot I could actually do something that benefits fighter pilots. I think solution would be time reduction, not complete removal. As for toughest to win missions... From mainly RED player standpoint (this might change with F-14A and later F-8J) the toughest to win is by far Behind Enemy Lines. Its extremely unbalanced in favor of Blue. From my observations few days ago to such a situation where Blue does not have to do anything and ground units marching at Minakh will still capture it, while RED absolutely has to stop attackers on Minakh but also has to support ground attack on Hatay as RED ground units wont get there by themselves. This became rather obvious when I looked into tacview: A dozen of T-55s defending against 16 Leclerc tanks. Furthermore Blue have fairly good SAM umbrella as four Avengers can provide good cover for advancing tanks. On the opposite side of the map is Hatay: Hatay is defended by 12 Challenger 2 tanks and some air defenses. RED attackers have around 10 or more T-80U tanks and three T-55 tanks. RED side can count on SA-13s, which are somewhat less capable than Avengers (engagement range primarily), and have to stick close to attacking tanks to provide any cover. I joined 30 min after mission start and three out of four were already removed. Point is that Blue enjoys very formidable force in attack and defense, while RED has only capable attacking units. But that is still not as capable as defenders, since T-55 is nowhere near the capabilities of Challenger and if you remove those, you're left with less T-80s than Challengers. And my expectation was fully realized few hours later when despite sincere attempts, RED could not stop advancing Blue tanks. Minakh was in fact captured without a single Blue aircraft delivering ordnance. Some Blue CAP distracted or straight shot down Su-25s and KA-50s, which forced more RED fighters to stay there. In the meantime RED attacking force was continuously getting destroyed by A-10 and F-5s, which could dominate the area (by also landing on Hatay) due to last SA-13 not having range to cover any of the tanks. By the end of the mission RED had three T-80s left, while Blue lost only three Challenger 2s. RED tried to cover them but could not simultaneously be at Minakh and Hatay. There are of course other factors like the fact that Blue this days has one or two dedicated commanders playing every evening, while RED has one person trying to conduct ground warfare, GCI and fly jets. But thats more about player behavior than mission design, so I dont factor those. If removed from equation, mission result would still be the same. I think this mission needs not a mere rework but complete overhaul.
-
I think the first step would be shortening missions. 8 - 10 hours long mission is just too long. Its not very rewarding when you fly 4 - 5 hours and focus on objectives but you just cant observe results. I mean, I know that there are not so rarely days when missions are done in 3 - 4 hours but any longer than that and most of the people just cant trace it. You fly 1 - 2 - 3 hours and thats it. So more frequent mission changes and restarts could also help out with those server crashes.
-
Yup, this white dot I think is afterburner. You can see afterburners at extremely long ranges now.
-
I wouldn't stick to those numbers guys. As said in interview, we dont provide dates. Things are ready when they are ready. But I can tell you that we're on it full time now.

There was a number of updates from us stating situation, our need of EDs assistance on this matter and attempts to temporarily fix this. Another measure is being worked on.

Server ded. Please check it.

I will ask.

Any chance for the server to catch up with todays update ?

Yes. 12th Ku operated over China since summer of 1940 for around a year, maybe less. AVG Flying Tigers combat debut did not occur until Dec 1941, so many months after Navy retired from China. For Americans everything in 1941 - 1943/1944 was Zero, even though they often faced Oscars. Misidentification and overclaims were just a thing of the time, but that one thing is right. Flying Tigers did not face IJN Zeros. Only Ki-43s, and even those in a limited number of clashes (once or twice 64th Sentai and maybe 59th Sentai) as IJA Air Force in 1941 was still mostly comprised of old Ki-27. And P-40B is distinctly superior to Ki-27 in many ways.

Guys, before a development update, we also had a pleasure to give an interview to Grim Reapers so we hope it will satisfy some of your answers :) :
