2021 (and earlier) DCS Newsletter Discussion Thread
Justificus replied to NineLine's topic in DCS 2.9
Ditto, couldn't resist... not that I thought I had a chance anyway... :smilewink: -
Lol, you're showing your age mate. ;) Nowadays, people would rather watch something on their phone than have to sit and actually READ something... sad times indeed!

Happy New Year to you and everyone else! S!

Lens protectors for the Rift? Didn't know about them. Any particular recommendations? "VR Optician prescription lenses" Not familiar with these either! I guess I need to come out from under my rock more often... Thanks for the suggestions!

Hmmmmm, I've been playing with the CV1 for a year now and scratched the lenses and my glasses the very first time I wore them! Been thinking about upgrading to the Rift S and after reading this thread and seeing comments like yours... Yup, time to upgrade!

Just discovered my ssd is getting full and I need to move stuff. Seeing my "Saved Games" folder to another drive would open up several GB. What file do I need to go into to point the install to this new location (it's been awhile...)? Thanks!

I have bad eyesight since elementary school days and wear them all the time. I just bought a new pair of glasses right before getting my Rift. As mentioned above, depending on how tight you have your Rift, the glasses and touch the lenses of the Rift. In my case, I ended up scratching both my glasses and Rift lenses... Being retired, I don't have a lot of spare cash and I can't afford to fix my glasses or Rift and I see these scratches every day I use them... kind of kicking myself in hindsight. Now I adjusted my Rift so it's not so tight on my face and they no longer touch. Wish I saw a thread like this one, or had the brains to ask the question before buying/using, but over all, I'm still really happy with the experience... How's THAT for screwed up for ya!?! ;)

Can't believe I missed this release! Thank you very much for doing this and sharing with the rest of us, Chuck. You truly are a gentleman!!
-
Seriously! I've only mapped some things to my warthog and taken it up a couple of times over the PG map as I'm waiting on Chucks' fantastic guide to help me get started with this bird... Don't know what I'd do without you Chuck!

Can we get a Persian Gulf map sticky?
Justificus replied to skunk160's topic in User Created Missions General
Thanks! Now you beta testers... where are those missions you were testing everything on?!? Time to share so those of us with little time or talent can take advantage of YOUR talents! ;) -
Purchasing the Persian Gulf Map for MP, who's buying it?
Justificus replied to F900EX's topic in DCS: Persian Gulf
Purchased, because I buy all their sh*t. :D -

I am having the same issues with all the planes in Flaming Cliffs. BIGNEWY, should I also do this as well? Thanks! EDIT: Ok, I tried deactivating all the planes but I still get messages about the DCS Campaign: F-15C Red Flag and A-10C Red Flag campaigns... I'm assuming I also need to uninstall those two? Will give it a shot...

[Gazelle] Don Rudi's missions for the Gazelle
Justificus replied to Don Rudi's topic in User Created Missions General
Wow, not sure how I missed these the first time around... Thanks for doing these, Don, look forward to checking them out this weekend! S! -
Great work as usual, sir! Thank you so much for doing this Chuck! You've spoiled me to the point that I wait for your guide before I start "getting into" the plane/helo... I know, I'm pathetic... ;) :pilotfly::thumbup:

Thanks for the reply but I just figured out what has happened. Evidently the 2.5 update broke the M-2000 from recognizing the DCS.Liveries folder in the Saved Games folder, just like RAZBAM's Harrier... So putting all the skins into the liveries folder under the game's main folder makes them show up again. Hopefully they will fix this so their planes are like the rest of the other modules and use the same folder in the Saved Games directory folder.

Okay, I've done a brief search and don't see anyone else having this issue so it must be something I've done/haven't done... None of my originally downloaded skins are showing up for my planes in a mission I had created a few months back. They have all reverted back to the default. When I go into the mission editor to switch the skin back to what I had (a USA desert skin for use in Nevada) there are absolutely zero skins for "USA" despite me having a bunch of them that were all working before the 2.5 update. The folder is still in the Liveries folder under my Save Games directory... I've tried editing the Description.lua for them to see if they will show up for another country and they won't... I'm stumped as to why they are not seen at all by the game. Any ideas for this novice? Thanks for any help you can give!!

Goodwood - Spitfire campaign in a mission
Justificus replied to Reflected's topic in User Created Missions General
Clicking on the download button gave me a page saying the file was missing. Apparently I tried too soon? tried again later and got it no problem. Hope to be able to check it out tomorrow or the next day depending on how long it takes to deal with the snow that I still have left to deal with... -
Goodwood - Spitfire campaign in a mission
Justificus replied to Reflected's topic in User Created Missions General
Just noticed this and went to download it but it's missing. :( Will try again later. Thanks for doing this, looks real interesting!! -
Odd, I'm having the same problem. I copied the name that you used for the folder, put it in the right place with my other skin folders and they don't show up! I'm trying to use this one desert fictional squadron skin in NTTR and am using USA as the country. I've tried deleting the country line in the description.lua but that made no difference. Tried to use another skin, just in case there was something amiss with this one, and have the same problem. Stumped on this one atm...

For whatever reason, it looks like you're being choosy in your choice of modules (nothing wrong with that!) so I would concur with most others here and say get the A-10. It will give you the most bang for the buck and it's a wonderful module. You can always get some of the others later. But based on everything you have said that would be my choice. Take it for what you will. ;) S!
