  1. Probably something related to this since ED have had a number of military contracts.
  2. That is because you use an AMD GPU and AMD have not supported DX9 for their drivers since 2009. Obviously EDGE will use DX11 so that should see a boost with AMD GPUs.
  3. Been reading Pierre Sprey and War is Boring eh? 180 rounds isn't a problem when contemporary Euro aircraft have 110-200 rounds of 20-30mm ammunition. Reason why US legacy fighters have such high internal cannon ammo is because the Vulcan has large spread. PAK-FA won't be built in any decent numbers lol, and will be less stealthy then F-35 and less powerful sensor suite. Russia have continually reduced their order, its from 150 initially reduced to 12 on order aircraft this year. F-16 didn't defeat the F-35 in a dogfight. Nobody won anything. It was a test to optimize the control laws at high AoA. In the era of HOBS missiles like AIM-9X that are increasingly hard to spoof with flares the ability to get the nose pointed and the first short off becomes ever more important. It's pointless to draw conclusions even if it was a dogfight. It's would be just one engagement. There is a guncam footage of a T-38 getting a F-22 in their gun sight. Do you seriously argue that the T-38 is much better then the F-22? Lack of Gun wasn't the biggest problem on the F-4 Phantom in Vietnam. Improper training in how to use missiles and maintain missiles was the issue. The US Navy tackled this problem. USAF strapped a gun on their Phantoms. What resulted was that the Navy K : D soared to over 10:1 and USAF stayed the same.
  4. I'm pretty sure supercruising is just cruising (so the regime which is most fuel efficient) that happens to be greater then Mach 1. Blackbird cruises with its afterburners on. F-15 cannot supercruise because it is most fuel efficient at ~ M0.8-0.9.
  5. Seems that it can only be used as a ranging radar in A-G and A-A modes
  6. There really is no reason to download DCS from steam. Especially since if you have standalone DCS, you can take advantage of both ED sales and Steam sales.
  7. Leatherneck is blueballing us hard with these two aircraft :)
  8. I wouldn't be surprised to be honest if that happend. Here we see classic usage of tanks by Arab nations. Absolutely no tactics or plan, just drive them out in the middle of field, park them there and wait till somebody flanks them. Vehicles seems to be used as a single separate entity, rather then part of a unit with supporting fire from other vehicles or infantry. Seems ME countries are more interested in getting cool glitzy equipment then learning to train on it. But yeah, side turret armor of an Abrams (or any tank) won't withstand a heavy ATGM like Konkurs, with or without the DU armor package that only US tank use; they would need the armor upgrades like the TUSK kit with the added ERA panels.
  9. You mean in DCS? since in DCS we don't have the AIM-9L available. It's AIM-9P and M, former being tail-aspect.
  10. AIM-9M has a low smoke motor. Both are all-aspect afaik.
  11. Theres a circle and cross if you lock the target on the radar. There is a funnel if you have the radar off.
  12. I don't know what makes you think that. It's not like the F-22 has a concealed gunport as well.
  13. Avionics wise, pretty much everything on the F-117 is unclassified, from another thread. From another thread But it wouldn't be the most multi role module ever (only role being pretty much night interdiction)
  14. MiG-21bis entered production in 1972 (according to Wiki) so that's inline with the slightly earlier F-4J (or if you want USAF/Isreali Airforce/internal cannon, F-4E), had look down shoot down capability but still used the Great White Hope.
  15. Maybe for MiG-21F but no MiG-21bis. for later MiG-21s, their nemesis are late F-4 Phantoms and Mirage V/Neshers.
  16. dat 4.5g limit though. Would prefer Imo the MiG-23 if I had to choose.
  17. You know this statement is not new. Modern Windows has always been gathering data about you. You know what else does? Your smartphone. You know what else? Your social media accounts. Anything else? Your search engines. They even serve you ads based on the data they have on your or your search results. This happens every day. This is all just a kneejerk reaction because it's a new OS that has its privacy options clearly listed and not hidden away *cough* Google *cough*. To get privacy in this day and age setup a Linux distro and use a Nokia brickphone.
  18. Possibly different production batches or refits since I found one with the accelerometer where ED placed theirs.
  19. 1.B 2.B 3.A/C 4.A
  20. Cringed at 1:55, what was that A-10 doing lol.
  21. Obviously the F-15 pilot transitioning to the MiG-21 will have it harder, not because the aircraft is harder to control in flight, but because situational awareness in all three aspects (visibility, radar, RWR) is much worse, tied in with much worse weapon systems. To fly a MiG-21 for combat is not that much different from the F-15 in terms of what controls you need to map. Axes Trigger Weapon Release Radar cursor (Only Up/Down in case of the MiG) Lock/Unlock Turn Radar On/Off (Standby in case of Mig-21) Countermeasures (With MiG-21 you need to also map the cover for the countermeasures button, alternatively click it before you enter combat) Weapon Selector (Hardpoint selector in case of MiG-21) Punch tanks (for F-15 its just one button, for MiG, 2 if you have wing and centerline tanks) F-15 Only Radar mode Radar range Radar altitude MiG-21 only Emergency Afterburner Emergency Air-restart IR/NEUT/SAR switch Radar filters Probably missing some combat-related things but you get the point. Obviously the MiG-21 has other things that are simulated that the F-15 doesn't like the navigation equipment. But if you just want to map both aircraft purely for combat, it is not that different, just capabilities are vastly different, in which you will have to use different tactics.
  22. Alt+tab, Ctrl+Alt+Delete, Start Task Manager, Get back into DCS. You can now Alt-tab all you want.
  23. No, the P-40 in Africa fought late E models, F models and early G models.
  24. Nautical mile is a unit that is tied to a property of the earth (i.e. it is 1 arcminute on any meridian). Whilst meter is defined by a property of light (how much it travels in a certain time)
  25. First P-47 looks like it fires off 1 rocket off the port wing
