I have both the X-52 and a Cougar FSSB-R2 with HS1 mod. I use the Cougar for Falcon and the X-52 for BS. My Cougar has a rigid stick so it is not realistic for a chopper, unmodded would be ok though. I like the X-52, but I had 2 go bad which Saitek replaced, good customer service. If you fly F-16's mostly like me, the Cougar is best. But for versatility and pricing, go X-52.:joystick:

That depends on the speed they are set at.

I am totally agreeing with you, but adding a link for those with Vista who want a big boost in FPS from Vista multicores.

Read this. Wombat's script doubled the FPS with BS on my quad. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=35091

Very true. I also read on the M$ site somewhere that Windows 7 is Vista2 just in case you thought you could pressure Bill. I am no Vista fan or M$ fan by any means, but M$ won't roll over that easy. One word: DOS.

I have two nVidia cards in SLI mode and I didn't have any of those problems, yet. QX6850 @ 3ghz, 2x 8800 ultras SLi 180.48 drivers. All settings maxed out in game and 16x AA 16x AF 1920 x 1200 res and I get 25-35 fps with Wombats script exe. I had problems with SLI once and it was a loose SLI bridge.

I just can't get TIR to be recognised by BS. I upadted to latest software and updated the games. BS is in the list. It works with everything else just not BS. I've tried clearing the axes and put them back and cleared them, no go. The blue light just won't come on. Anyone else have this problem?

Yes, it has now gone away after I restarted too. That's a relief its just DOS. Thanks. -

Wombat, thanks again, it works great. One question though. My CPU or something beeps several times at about 10-15 second intervals when the game is loading or when backing out. Is this normal and is it ok? -

Wombat it works! It doubled my FPS. I'm now 20-30+ fps everything on 1920 x 1200 and 8x AA with 16x AF. It kicks in after about 5 seconds. I was reading the initial low fps and backing out. After the pause it jumps right up. Its so convenient, so I changed the shortcut icon to the BS one. Thanks loads. -
Low perfomance with high PC (need help)
Icarus2 replied to Legolasindar's topic in Bugs and Problems
32x AA will choke most computers unless you are running Pong, I know I can't run anything with it even with 8800 ultras in SLI.:) -
Everytime I start the sim after 5 seconds the rudder kicks to the right and locks. If I press my rudder left it corrects only to happen again and again. Any ideas what causes this? Saitek Pro Rudders.

Vista and Multi-core/Multi-CPUs, Continued
Icarus2 replied to ericinexile's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Here's a really weird one: Falcon4 AF uses all four cores on my quad but BS doesn't! I checked. I also manually turned all the cores on in BS and it did give me an FPS boost (not huge, maybe 5-7 fps). But the biggest boost came from dropping my AA from 16xS to 8x multisampling. Big boost for very little quality loss. Now I run at 20-30 fps instead of 7-15. -

But I should pick the 4core one anyways, because I have a quad right? Where do you find prifinitty? -

I'm going to try affinity manually tonight. I did that with FalconAF and found that all 4 cores were actually being used already! We'll see what it says for BS. -

I used your DCS script Wombat and it appears I am the first that it does not work for. I extracted the contents to Ka-50 folder and created a shortcut to the 4 core icon, opened the sim and in instant action I get 7-15 fps. I have a qx6850 @ 3 ghz, 4Ghz ram, 2x 8800 ultra, 2x raptors, Vista 32. -
So what can cause low framerates when your GPU, RAM and CPU are not maxed out? I've seen that before.
-
And if its so CPU bound and light on the GPU that you only need one vid card to max it out, why not have the option to beef it up if you have SLI?
-
This may also be that most GPU's that are in SLI can handle this game graphically alone without SLI. Its CPU intensive, thus all the multicore talk.
-
Perhaps I am mistaken. I have two Rapter HDD, one has Vista on it the other does not. No RAID config, just two HDD's. I assumed the second was slave to the Vista. If not, could there still could be a speed issue if I install the software on the non Vista HDD, right??
-
That means the one vid card is doing its job all by itself, because the vid card does AA and AF. So its CPU or something else like HDD, which seems strange with that CPU. No SLI support? Not great for a brand new software like this. Also, this sim may not use multi cores? If that were the case you would effectively only have the equivalent of a single core 2.66 GHZ cpu and I a 3.0. If true, also not good for a new software of this magnitude. Hope someone can tell us if multicore and SLI are supported and if it can make a difference.
-
Ah! Possibly. I will try one card and see. Also, I have it on a slave Raptor HD. Perhaps installing it on the master will help?

Performance I have: QX6850 Quad @ 3 GHZ 4 GB RAM 2X 8800 Ultras 160 GB Raptors X2 Vista 32 It is a bit choppy over airbases with everything on high settings. Is this to be expected with this computer??
