Yeah it's not the best value buy. I will say with the 8700K I replaced, I see a nice big improvement Auth the 3090 of course but I was getting a CPU bottleneck...with the 5950X I'm not seeing that. Under stress treats I've seen as many as 5 cores over 5ghz and two that come in right under 5.1Ghz. With the huge IPC advantage the AMD Chips have over Intel I think that's where it shines.

Well I'm already seeing reports of Driver issues...and the Card refusing to boost etc...so we'll see. No matter what competition is good. As far as the CPU the 5950X is absolutely faster than the other Ryzen 5000 series CPUs in DCS and elsewhere. Looks like the 5950X and 5900X are binned chips and able to hit speeds the others aren't...is it overkill? Maybe depends on what you are doing. I didn't want the best value. I wanted to fastest DCS VR rig without taking cost as a limiting factor. I'm pleased with my selections for that.

I highly recommend the Ryzen CPU...it has a pretty big edge over the 10900K...on the driver side where I was worried was on the GPU with past AMD Driver history and paired my 5950X with an RTX 3090 for the absolute fastest...compared to the 6800XT I would wait till January as Nvidia is supposed to release a 3080Ti with 20GB of VRAM, combine that with the Smart Access Memory that Nvidia is releasing I think it will give Nvidia even more of an edge

My Reverb G2 should be arriving tomorrow. Excited to get it in DCS with the new PC! I've heard awesome things from the guys in our group that already have theirs!

I know it's not going to be a huge difference...but I wanted the absolute fastest build. I think those gains while minimal now over the rest of Ryzen 5000 will be a lot more once we get Vulkan next year.

I think you're mistaken. The 5950X clocks higher in single core as well. I know the 5800X has a slightly higher Base Clock but I've yet to see a review at any resolution that it beat the 5950X. In Firestrike which is DX11 and a good DCS type benchmark I was 4,000 points higher than a friend with a 5900X with a 3090.

Well as someone who came from years and years of Intel CPUs I don't regret going to team Red this time at all. This 5950X blows the doors off my 8700K, even when it was paired with my EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra, the 5950X with the same card is about 25% faster in just about every comparison I have run with the same amount of RAM. I am finishing loading up DCS and will do some comparisons but I don't think I will regret the purchase in any way...BIOS update was a breeze...Just get a Mobo with Bios Flashback and you're set with an easy update.

Man AMD won me over with the 5950X...I'll be trying to grab one on Thursday if I'm able to. I have an entire new PC ready to go for it just waiting with a X570 Aorus Master Mobo, 64gb of 3600 RAM, 1000W PSU etc...but I think I am going to grab an EVGA 3090 FTW3 for it(found one I will have on Friday)...AMD has been a bit lacking in their driver support and I just don't trust them on the GPU side yet with my primary rig...

Hey guys sorry hadn't been following this thread. Really glad to see quite a few of you getting good use of this mod. I have been using it for quite some time without any issues. My pedals still feel awesome, and recenter just fine. I unfortunately did not keep a parts list. It is very easy though. The main thing is getting the right damper which we linked a few times. It is a common Motorcycle steering damper. The rest of the parts are readily available at most hardware stores. I got all my stuff at Ace Hardware.

I was planning on waiting another generation to update my 8700K but I have drank the Kool Aid. Good on AMD to step up and innovate where Intel has pretty much sat on their rears...I have been Intel for many years but will happily be picking up a 5950X as soon as I can...Hopefully Nov 5th lol

I'm just looking for the best on this new build. I have everything I need except the new 5950X CPU and I will likely be pairing that with a 3090. Excited to see the actual new AMD Big Navi numbers on Wed. The better they are the more it helps us all!

As some have said it does sound like Early Access might not be a good choice for you. We need to be aware of EA means. As for the IFOLS it is easy to disable in Lua. We have a large group and I believe all of our guys are using a OVGME enable file that turns of the artificial IFOLS. That file is pretty easy to find and modify.

It's certainly not for everyone. But if it's clearer it's certainly worth $600 to me. But I'll see how the 8K-X treats me first.

From what I've seen there is plenty reason to go from a G1 to a G2. Yes the resolution is the same but the lenses on the G2 are supposed to be superior and much clearer. So you should see a clearer image. That in itself is reason enough, but that's not the only reason with the improvements all around the system. With that said I have a 8K-X on order that is supposed to come in sometime in Oct...I'll be seeing if that is a big enough improvement over my G1 Pro to keep or if I'm going to sell and go G2 because I've been very happy with my G1. Also, most likely going with a 3090 when I can find one and considering a system update to a 10900K...guess we'll see but I usually update the rig every 2 to 3 years...

I'm hoping the 3090 with the Pimax 8K-X I have on order will be the ultimate solution for DCS...can't wait to see someone get that combo and report back in the ED forums

Hello, I tried to update my winwing throttle and switch panel to the new firmware and my switch panel seems to be dead. I had it plugged into the motherboard. The throttle is functioning fine. Could you please assist! Thanks!

That printer is exactly what I used for all the buttons on the UFC. Getting closer to finishing. Still need to tidy up a few things. I need to go to the Hardware store tomorrow to get the right length screw for my middle AMPCD and then I can get rid of the piece of extrusion holding it up. All the switches and buttons in the cockpit are functioning fine and have more on the way. I ordered the correct F/A-18 DDIs from PC Flights also have the right side HMCS panel on the way so those will go in next.

Hey guys just finished the build and love it. Came out really nice and all the switches work which is great! The biggest problem I'm having is figuring out the best mounting solution. Could a few of you that have done this share your mounting pictures? Or link some brackets that worked well for you? Thanks!

I think we are getting plenty of Nimitz Class Carriers in this module. I would selfishly love to see a Payware addon of the Enterprise. But I think we will have plenty to play with in the Carrier module as is...
