Yup! I have the CDU exported to a tablet, so it's really easy that way.

Any chance I could get a LUA for NTTR as well? Working on some missions for online play, and it does get a bit barren sometimes.
-
It can be done either way. As someone who forgets to do it in the editor a lot, I have to do it in the cockpit pretty often. The way I usually do it is I fly with the CDU in STEER mode (displaying information on the current Stp) There's a branch page on LSK L4 That will take you to the waypoint page for the currently selected stp, and there you can change the elevation to 0. You do this by inputting 0 on the scratchpad, and pressing the LSK next to ELEVATION on LSK L2.

Good work, I still can't come close to staying connected like you did in the second video.

Thanks, Wags! Keep up the good work.

Hey guys, In this campaign, specifically the 3rd and 4th missions (haven't gotten past the 4th one yet, you'll see why) There are some f-15's coming in to land at the beginning of the mission. The problem is, other fighters are trying to take off at the same time, and they keep crashing into each other in the middle of the runway. Normally I'd just delete the offending group, but we're not allowed to edit the mission files. Anybody else have this/ find a workaround? **Sorry to the mods, I meant to put this is the bugs&problems forum.

I can make 3d files no problem if you can get me dimensions. I use solid works, so it's pretty easy to take that to 3d print/CNC. I have a 3d printer, and I'm building a CNC machine. Pm me to let me know what you had in mind.

I'd also advise you get some kind of headtracking solution. I used FaceTrackNoIR when I first started, and having that free space on your stick really helps. That uses a webcam to watch your face and works pretty well. You can then get a few old remote controls and take the IR LED's out of them and build a headtracking rig out of cardboard. I used that for about a month. Then I got some brand-new IR LED's from Digikey.com for about a dollar, and 3D printed a frame for them. A good way to mount that to your head is to modify one of those cheap headlamp flashlights.

Sure can. I used one for a while. Use the 6 buttons on the base as modifiers, and the POV hat can function as all 6 hats on the aircraft. I used the 4 buttons around the hat for the china/boat switches, if memory serves. I'm pretty sure I posted a profile and a Picture to illustrate it somewhere here before.

It seems that infantry won't do fire at point, only vehicles like artillery will. hm...

Hey guys. I've been getting more into detail as of late, so I'd like to do proper fuel calcs. I'm wondering how one would do them the old-school way: pen and paper. It's a good thing to know, and I'd like to build an excel sheet that does it. I have a drag index calc made, and I flow FlyingSquirrel made a calc program, but I'd like to make something in excel so I can customize it and get whatever data I want. If anyone can help, let me know.

Good suggestions all. I particularly like the "fire at point" solution.

Hey guys. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to do the following. I'd like to have 2 groups on infantry shooting at each other, but can't kill each other, like they're set to invincible. But, I'd like for players to be able to kill them. The reason for this is, I'd like to have CAS missions where the infantry is involved in combat like you see in the middle east, but the problem is infantry forces usually kill each other in just a few minutes. I think their must be some sort of scripting solution to this, but I don't know LUA scripting very well at all. Let me know what you guys think.

I remember when I first tried this. I thought to myself; "wouldn't it be neat if I could see my own IR pointer in the NVG's? Sureley IRL you could, NVG's are IR sensitive...." And sure enough, as soon as I tried, it worked. Really useful for helping you get a visual on something you've found in the TGP. I find it's best to know where things are heads-up as much as possible, but it gets pretty hard at night. I forget though, can you see a JTAC's SPARKLE through the TGP? I remember WAY back in 1.1.1.1 it was broken-ish. But the last time I tried to get a SPARKLE, GD JTAC gave me willy-pete. Thanks buddy. Super help, much wow.

[HELP] Is there a way to change the video setting presets?
Wrench replied to Krasniye's topic in DCS Modding
Yes there is. There's a file called Graphics.lua in \config I recomend you copy that, and then use JSGME to install a modded version so you A, have a backup, and B, don't loose your mods every time the game updates (a lot.) ED recommends you use the Autoexec.lua in your saved games dir, but adding Graphics.options to the like above your changes, but I like JSGME better. You'll find in that file a header called "camera=" then some code for Low, Medium, High, etc. So the edits you're likely going to want to make are for draw distances, etc. that would look something like this: Original The numbers are mostly draw distances, in feet IIRC. So you might change it to something like this: Now these are numbers I pulled from a hat, so don't use them. You can do some experimentation to find out what you can use that'll work with your system. I'll post what mine looks like, but I think it may have recently been accidentally overwritten by the updater (I moved DCS to an SSD, and I think I forgot to use JSGME when I modded it) You'll also find the next section is CameraMirrors= which will, as you'd expect, edit the graphics settings of the cockpit mirrors. Be advised, the way DCS handles mirrors is still a bit....dated, so it'll kill the frame rate on even a pretty decent system if you crank it too high. (I'm running and ancient 560Ti, so my settings are pretty low) -
I'm sure this has been covered before, but I searched and couldn't find it. I've have the following problem: When attempting to restart and engine in-air, the first step (with an APU restart) is to IDLE the throttle on the engine you're restarting. The problem is, I have an old Saitek X45 (Dinosaur, but still works like new) and it only has one throttle, bound to THROTTTLE BOTH. If I try the keyboard command for IDLE ENG# it works for about a phemtosecond until the throttle on my HOTAS reads a slight movement (they always jitter slightly) and it goes straight back to the throttle setting on the stick. Does anyone have a super clever/painfully obvious solution to this so I can feel really dumb for a week?

I did the same thing with a batch file.

You have to use autohotkey. Its a limitation of the VAICOM sysem. That said, he provides links to a single post someone made with an explanation of how to find what buttons to set it to on your joystick. There's some fancy code you have to do if you want to use a modifier. I'll post that code when I ge home for the sake of the community.

VAICOM 2.0 for VoiceAttack
Wrench replied to Hollywood_315's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Aha! Thank you, Hollywood. I had no idea you could set options like that... >.> I'm pretty n00bish when it comes to VA. Also, I saw in there I can set my DCS install directory. I took the Liberty of updating that, so hopefully that was a good idea. -
VAICOM 2.0 for VoiceAttack
Wrench replied to Hollywood_315's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
So I searched the thread here, but didn't find an answer. Sorry if this has been covered. Voice Attack is telling me "easy Communication" is on, when It's off in DCS. By that I mean that it's using the \ key instead of the keys for the proper radio. I have DCS installed to my SSD, (Volume D:\) not the C drive. Could that be causing the problem? Can I just manually set Easy Coms to off in VAICOM, because I'm very used to setting the radios properly, I'd never need it anyway. -
I basically set up my custom presets as dump 12 flares as fast as possible, and one to do the same with chaff. Confuses pretty much everything. Especially IR SAMs. I can actually just orbit over an IR SAM site, and just pop the flares when the missle is about 1/3 of the way to me. "60% of the time, it works every time." But seriously, it's pretty effective. Also, remember to keep the threat where you can get a visual on a launch, an MLWS warning, or both.

Additional Voice Actors Needed - DLC Campaign
Wrench replied to Ranger79's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I sent a PM. I'm excited to see if I can help. -
I like Gerry Abott, https://www.youtube.com/user/gerryabbott, (among others)for learning the systems. From there I just made increasingly difficult training missions for myself. Started with takeoff at Batumi, Targets lined up at the abandoned airfield between Batumi an Koboleti, grind square GG33. From there I started adding AAA threats, JTAC, etc. Then started hiding enemy Targets/threats in the near by cities where I'd have to look for them. The cool thing about that is you can control how hard the missions are as you progress, and always push yourself just a little further.

It's basically ABS. Pretty much the same as what's in modern cars.
