  1. Good suggestions, but I would prefer to have everything integrated in one program.
  2. I'd like to say thanks again Ciribob for the great application. I was wondering, however, if something could be added. I'd like to see if it's possible to add something like a "side channel" that could be enabled server-side, that would allow direct communication. What my group of pilots is doing now is using discord until radios in the A-10C are live, then muting discord. This is sub-optimal because you then have everyone alt-tabbing, and it requires the simultaneous use of two programs to do the same thing. Just a thought, Wrench.
  3. I've found a workaround to get the troops following a route. It uses MiST's "Get Route" command. Basically, the mission editor can't see groups spawned by CTLD, but MiST can. --TL;DR version, I'll throw up a .miz that's working, but it's for NTTR, so you'll need that to run it. I can remake the mission for the Caucasus if anyone wants it. On to the explanation: There are a few steps to this, so I'll enumerate them here to make it easier to figure out what's going on in the mission editor. *Note-The .miz has an extra group of 1 soldier to simulate a rescue op. It might be a bit confusing to fly if you don't look at it in the editor first because I haven't written a briefing yet. I have smoke turned off, but you only need to know the group you're transporting in spawns at a road outpost to the east of where you spawn, and the drop/extraction zone is in the clearing north of the solar field just south of the compound where the Asset, Warrior, is being held. The gist is: 1. Set a group for the troops you want to pick up/drop off. Where you want them to be when you pick them up, with no waypoints.(they can have waypoints to move to the location you pick them up from, but this is not necessary) This group is called "extract1" in the .miz and is the only group you will interact with. 2. Set a group where you want to drop them off. The second group is set to late activation, but will never be spawned. This group simply acts as a placeholder for the route you want the group you drop off to follow. I called this group "route" in the .miz *hint- the starting position of this group should be the first point you want extract1 to move to when you drop them off, and does not have to be inside the wpzone. 3. Use a waypoint zone instead of a dropzone so that the infantry you drop moves to the center of it. (Doesn't seem to work with a drop zone, just use a wpzone.) 4. Use a "get group in zone" (or some such, it's in the .miz) from Mist to detect when they're in that zone. This is set to continuous and starts 10 seconds after Mist and CTLD load. This script requires that the units in extract1 are in a table, so it aslo contains a command to do so. 5. That will trigger a flag in the mission editor (flag 1 in the .miz) 6. Flag 1 fires the script to set the route for the "exract1" to the route from the dummy group "route". That's how you get the dropped group to act like we want, now if you're interested in how the rest of the mission works: 7. In the .miz, they proceed to kill some enemies, and rescue another group called "Asset". 8. When the first group of enemies is HEALTH LESS THAN %50, a second group spawns and the Asset moves towards the wpzone (where the helo will extract him) 9. The only thing I haven't worked out is how to pick up two groups in one go, so you have to go through the F10 menu a few times. I also have some radio calls generated, and The voice acting isn't great given that I hadn't planned to release the mission. The first is a looping radio beacon is Morse Code that reads "WARRIOR SOS" meant to be a small beacon the Asset has managed to activate where he is being held. This provides ADF to players not familiar with the mission (given I know where everything is because I made the mission) It transmits on 45 FM. This will terminate when Jaguar makes contact with him. The second is extract1 (the player is told their callsign is Jaguar) is ready to be picked up. To make this simple to do with the mission editor, I simply have is set to transmit when the player turns towards them, indicating that he is ready to fly and his radio should be set by then. This is transmitted on 131 AM so that the player can turn down the FM radio so they don't have to hear the beacon all the time, without missing the subsequent transmissions. When Jaguar makes contact with the Asset and kills the first group, a second spawns and a radio call is transmitted to alert the player. This is done with a trigger in the ME via "sound to group" and "message to group" because I didn't want to mess with a transmit waypoint in the route. The fourth is from Jaguar as far as the player is told, but actually, comes from the Asset group when he reaches the wpzone. It's a simple Transmit message in the wp-options that tells the player he is at the extraction point. Anyway, hope that workaround will work for you guys. Huey Extraction Mission.miz
  4. I tried both, and I couldn't get it working. No worries about being away from DCS. All good things to those who wait, right?
  5. Originally posted this in the wrong forum. I've been wanting to be able to have a mission where you drop troops off, who then carry out a mission with waypoints etc. I understand this doesn't work and in the thread here Criribob posted a such a mission. The problem is, the troops from extract10 won't activate the trigger once they've been picked up with CTLD. Is this a known bug/ Is there a workaround for it?
  6. I know this thread is kind of old, but I've been wanting to do something like the Troop Mission for a long time. The problem is, the troops from extract10 won't activate the trigger once they've been picked up with CTLD. Is this a known bug/ Is there a workaround for it?
  7. Welcome to the forums. If you mean for the curves, that's gonna be based on feel. I try not to use them at all, but to each their own. Start with something like 10 and go uofrom there. Once it starts to feel sluggish, or the edges of your control get too sensitive, split the difference until it feels "right." Just FYI, the curves desaturate the. Center of the stick travel, but the input/output ration increases exponentially from there, that's why I don't like them.
  8. Burgo, If you're looking for someone to fly with in MP to show you the ropes, I'd be happy to help. I've been getting a little stagnant in my flying g as of late, so it would probably do me a lot of good as well.
  9. I started on the A-10C having never flown a flight sim before. I saw a Nerd³ video in which he spent 30 minutes trying to guess his was through the start-up, and that was it. It's a steep learning curve, to be sure, but it's not impossible. I found a start-up tutorial on youtube (there's a ton nowadays) and then did the training missions. (you have to use 1.5 for those) After that, start flying with a simple mission that has a few targets for you. The mission editor is pretty easy to use for a mission like that. I find jumping right in is a good way to find what information you need to focus your youtube/manual/forum searching. Good luck!
  10. Thanks buddy! I did the same thing with the radio presets generator. It writes the whole file instead of editing it.
  11. It most likely means your NMSP isn't set properly. (Navigation Mode Set Panel) Check that you have EGI selected. Does the ADI still function? Posting a track would be a great way for one of us to catch what you missed. I say us as in "us forum guys" not 'us experts'. I can't quite call myself an expert yet. lol.
  12. Mine is working fine after I installed 2.0 I didn't have to copy any .dll's That was from a long time ago IIRC. Try removing the dll you added and DCS repair. Make sure you have FTNIR set to start dummy trackIR, use TrackIR, hide freetrack. There was also an update for FTNIR a little while ago. I think it's payware now but it was like $3 US. From there, you should start by going into the settings menu and see if there's an entry for TrackIR, and try to define each axis from there.
  13. It's pretty easy to add them to the list of available weapons, not sure how well they'd work, though. I added the AIM-9X to the F-15C a while back, and they seemed to work fine. I guess with how much more involved the A-10C is the profile controls would probably be all jacked up. :\ Either way I can't remember which .lua it was in, but a quick forum search should find it.
  14. Help with a similar project Hey Gliptal, Is there any way I could have you help me get started with something similar? I'd like to make a GUI application to edit the .lua settings files that are used per-mission, and I'm not sure where to start. I made an excel (actually I used open office) file that does radio presets here. It works for that application, but doing work on the scale I intend to would get pretty sub-optimal. Especially seeing that I want it to read/write, so you know what you're changing. This big thing I'd like to be able to do is wind profiles and CBU HOF. It would be pretty easy, I think, to read the WIND DATA from the mission file and write that to CDU/SETTINGS.lua inside the mission. As for the CBU HOF, I'd like it to read the name of the weapon loaded on each station, and then have a drop-down to select the HOF. The HOF line exists on every station, not just ones loaded with HOF, so that makes it a lot easier. Any advice you can give on this would be much appreciated.
  15. +1 on this, that's a great resource. I've been watching those videos over and over again when going to bed as of late (either that or AMC's "hell on wheels") and it's really interesting how the stuff he demonstrates will come to mind in my own flying. (I mean bunyap, not hell on wheels. it's a great show, but not very informative on A-10C's) Another great resource on flying the aircraft, as well as just a really cool guy who took time to hang out with us, was Maj. Peter Olson (retired) He did a team speak Q&A, and Forum member dabomb set it up and recorded it. You can find the post where he gave a link to the recording here. As far as installing campaigns, it's pretty straight forward. If you buy from the ED store, which I recommend you do, when you start DCS World and go to the modules page (that button on the top made on 9 small squares next to the settings button) it'll automatically detect you've bought it (It's linked with your ED login credentials) and install it for you. Then you just cpoy+paste the serial they email you, which I've always gotten within a few seconds of purchasing, and you're off to the races.
  16. The 16-2 Red Flag is a lot of fun so far. I'm only on mission 6 but's it's going well. It's not too hard as long as you can find the targets fairly quickly. You have to be careful getting too close to SAMs, but they're all SHORAD so far. (SHOrt Range Air Defence) Other than that, maple flag missions are now downloadable through the DCS store. Their Basic Flight Training Campaign shouldn't be too difficult, but I think it's more geared for serious pilots looking to master the aircraft. You can always peruse the missions subforum, there's always somebody posting A-10C missions. Making them yourself is never a bad plan, the only trouble is you'll know where everything is, and what surprises await. I sometimes make a mission and don't fly it for a few months, until I've forgotten how I made it. that helps a bit with that problem. A simple mission with a few triggers (to tell you you've won, for example) a few targets moving around, or an artillery battalion bombarding a friendly town (my go-to because it feels much more "alive") will only take about 30 minutes to an hour to set up if you keep it simple. I might have a few simple missions like that kicking around if you'd like me to post a couple. You can also take a look at the ED store campaign page here. A YouTuber named Bunyap Sims does some campaign playthroughs and watching a mission or two can give you a good feel for how involved you can expect it to be. Other than that, just have fun with this beautiful aircraft ED has made for us.
  17. Hey guys, I've started working on a tool to create radio presets pre-mission with OpenOffice calc. I don't think the macro it uses will work in excel, but you're welcome to try. The idea is you can set up your presets via drop-down lists, and export it to .lua. It spits each preset file out into a subdirectory named for each radio. This is done using relativity, so it creates the folders wherever you have the .Ods stored. Anyway, how it works: You select you presets via drop-down and then run the macro. It will spit .lua files for each radio. Each of these files goes into a directory for each radio namely VHF_AM_RADIO, VHF_FM_RADIO, and UHF_RADIO. Then you just copy those folders into your mission file. (this is done by changing the .miz extension .zip, and then back when you're done.) In the spoiler section are some screen shots to show how it works. This work much more seamlessly than the previous version, which did not create the directories. Anyway, hope some of you find d it useful. RADIO_FREQ_GENERATOR.zip
  18. Hey grommet, sorry I missed your post. That sounds like a great plan. The only problem there is if they respawn forever, it makes the mission feel pretty futile. How'd the script you were working on turn out?
  19. MSN 3 and 4 confirmed fixed. Thanks, team!
  20. What do you guys fly?
  21. Mine is slightly different: if not Group.getByName('RUSCAP1') then local msg = {} msg.text = "Respawning RUSCAP1." msg.displayTime = 30 msg.msgFor = {coa = {'all'}} mist.message.add(msg) mist.respawnGroup('RUSCAP1', true) local con = Group.getByName('RUSCAP1'):getController() end I can't remember where I got this from, but it works. It also displays a message for 30 seconds. This is setup to respawn a group called RUSCAP1. This just respawns them wherever they originally started, so if they start on a ramp, they'll respawn on the ramp. Be aware that parking spaces are not preserved, so they'll just pick the first open parking space.
  22. Here's a thread (it's old, but it still works) It's by Stuka, and it's basically a ton of templates. He has a template file you can use, or a mission set up so you can pick and choose which ones you want to use. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=82161 He has a bunch of templates for both US and Russian SAM sites, and from what I've tested, they work. He explains how to do both in the thread.
  23. If you use JSGME you just have to re-install the mod you made. Easy as a push of a button.
  24. Yeah, it's hard to practice, practice, practice when the blood vessels in my eyes keep popping... :music_whistling:
