Hey all. Thanks to some encouragement on a Discord server, I've decided to post a script/mission I've been working on. This actually started life a few months ago for the Kuznetsov of all things. What is it? This is a script, embedded in a mission, which will tell an Aircraft Carrier to turn into the wind and do its best to maintain 25-30 knots windspeed over the deck. It will take the landing deck angle into account as well, so pilots will have a near-zero cross-wind component. Works with multiple carriers, and multiple Coalitions. What's in the mission? A Group-specific F10 menu system -To get BRC for carriers -To override Carrier Return Script -Is Coalition-specific (Can't control the other coalition's carriers) A Coalition-specific Tanker Script which will keep spawned tankers near the carrier. Version 2.0 with supercarrier support video is live! A few notes: The script and mission are free to use, edit, etc. but if you repost a modified version of the mission, or a mission using the script, I'd ask you credit me. (I'm not a professional coder so this took a lot of work for me) The carrier will maintain at least 5 knots or it will endlessly circle. There is a bit of documentation in the form of a commented section in the LUA file, which you can find built inside the mission. .miz files are really just .zip archives if you weren't aware. Hopefully, this will make it a bit easier for you to setup carrier missions, and practice landing. *****UPDATE 5/27/2020***** Updated for SC, new video added. Carrier Script 2.0.lua Carrier Script 2.0 hotfix 2 Supercarrier.lua

I have a warthog, and had to do literally nothing. The detent lines up perfectly with full mill. I did take a file to the detent to make it push-through, but I'm sure it didn't move the throttle position at mill power (physical) by more than a few thousands (of an inch.)

What are all the commands that the Sensor Control Hat does?

Can I just say, I like that you posted a screenshot of the forum, and not a forum link? -
Thanks bud.

Has anyone figured out the name for the .obj for the Stennis? .acmi's call it "Stennis" but naming the mash that doesn't seem to work.
-
I had actually requested this as a feature. Hopefully if they "fix" it, they'll provide an option in the VR settings.

I have a CV1, The next generation rift won't be out for a while yet. From what I hear, the Vive pro isn't really a game-changer, just a slight bump. And besides, if it were a problem, and from what I'm hearing it isn't, I could see making concessions for screen resolution problems. It's the same as model distance scaling and other technologies. There is no substitute for visual acuity. That said, from the sound of things it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Rock on, thanks Cobra. I'm surprised at how excited I am to fly RIO. Keep up the solid work.
-
True. I'm sure it'll be doable, I'm just afraid I'll have to have my face 3 inches from the screen to be able to read it,lol. I suppose technically in a rift your face is always 3" from the screen. VR is weird.
-
Right, I'm just not certain it'll be legible in VR. Let me be more precise: My fear is that with the relatively low resolution of current-generation rift, the displays (drawing a blank on the nomenclature at the moment) will be too difficult to read.
-
Does anybody have a guess if the RIO's instrumentation will be clearly visible in VR? I'm mostly looking forward to RIO, but I'm afraid it'll get boring on a flat screen, especially now that I'm spoiled. Maybe some viggen guys can guess given they've got a ground radar, just to get a sense of how systems like this work in VR, and how they are supported by DCS/heatblur for that purpose?

Hey guys, I made one based on J-1775's WWII hangar. This will randomly select between the Spitfire, P-51, BF 109, and the FW 190. Might still have some bugs, I ran out of patience. Custom VR Hangar.zip

It keeps discussion on the skin; or else it gets the hose again. -

Thanks NineLine, I was starting to think I'd have to remove the reference image.:megalol: -
Hey all. Wasn't there a script I saw a while back that could remove damaged units from a group (ground) to stop the group from slowing down enough for the damaged one to keep up? Thanks Wrench

Boosterdog, I will certainly have a look, thanks. I do like the yellow nose. I really found it interesting how Nolan used them for the film even though it's not strictly accurate. As a history buff (YouTube channel name drop 100% intended) I can appreciate the difference between historical inaccuracies that matter, and detract from a film (i.e. braveheart) and those which truly do not matter, like that one. -

Nineline, much respect, and congratulations on the official...promotion? Is that the word? But I'm sure no offense was meant, and none was taken. I'm sure his response was curt only in the interest of brevity. -

Cgi in Dunkirk? From what I understand, there was almost no cgi for the aircraft scenes, that was kinda the big deal. I think the only scene was the o e shot of all 3 spitfires in an unreasonably close formation. -
There's an a-10 mission planning tool on the forums somewhere that will tell you bingo fuel. I'll see if I can find it.

This guy's give angle was super low, like 3-5°. And the BDAs show he was getting in the side. If you hit tanks from the top at a high dive angle, the gun should be much more effective, even if only getting a mobility kill. In that interview over teamspeak a few years ago will the a-10 pilot Ollie, he mentioned killing tanks with an average of two hits. Not sure how old those tanks we're, but it gives you an idea of just how powerful that gun is.

All excellent choices. Long Tall Sally, in particular.

I'll be taking off from the Carl Vinson, for sure. I was going to say I'll listen to Meteor, which I certainly will, but I think I might have to start with dangerzone. That said, I can't decide between the theatrical version or the psychostick cover...
