Timm, As I understand it, your description matches what the real helo should do. That's because the autopilot system in most helicopters does not exclude pilot inputs, but adds them. So when you move your collective, the autopilot says "OK, I see you want less angle on those blades, you got it", and you'll start to descend. the same is true for the cyclic, if in autohover and you move the cyclic, the helicopter will obey and start to move away from a stationary hover. Look at it as an aid, not an override.

Under the risk of catching a lot of heat (all pun intended), I do have to agree with HogRider on this one. I can see that most people do not care about, for example, a functioning environmental system, but I enjoy controlling such parameters, and it does add to my immersion factor, which I am sure is different between everyone. I fly Microsoft's FSX also, and get a kick out of adjusting the cabin temp in different temperature conditions, as I imagine myself in that situation. Might be a small (or big!) stretch for others but, again, I tihnk people are just different. That being said, I do agree that development time should be spent on more important/effective things first, but to me it doesn't mean developers shouldn't consider it and dismiss it as a simple "that doesn't do anything" kind of feature. Just my 2 cents ;).

Frederf brings up a good point, the manual does indicate the PVI gets updates from the GPS, so why would there be a need for the INU update via a fix? Is it just a provision for if GPS is not available for whatever reason?

Hey Timm, You are right, I can't find that folder either. But, when you click on the default pilot image in Black Shark, you can select any folder in your computer as the source for the graphics. It seems to default to the Ka-50\Missions folder, but again, you should be able to point to a pic anywhere in your system.

Hey Timm, As the othe rtwo posts above explained, it is on the collective and non-clickable. I just wanted to give you a bit of further info. The keyboard shortcut "R" will turn "ROUTE FOLLOWING" on and off, alternatively. The keyboard shorcut "D" will engage the "DESCENT" momentarily, only as long as you hold it down, since that position of the switch is spring loaded to neutral. So, to make this work, just look at the collective. If the switch is in ROUTE FOLLOWING mode (flipped forward), just hit R again and it will come back to NEUTRAL, which is where you need it to be for auto hover. DESCENT is visually checked as the switch flipped to the back of the cockpit but, again, it does not stay there if you are not holding down the D key on your keyboard.

You don't. You are synching the INU to a known coordinate. How do you now where that coordinate is? Visually. You should use points such as crossroads, river crossings, etc., to be able to identify them with ease. then, fly over them, and hit the update.

Bloomstomb, Try hitting Esc, then resuming the game. This has worked for me on a similar issue, and has been written down as a bug. For now, it might help you. -
As added info, you'll know there are more than one EKRAN messages when the "QUEUE" orange light is on above the EKRAN screen.

Using MSFFB2 and loving it, although I don't have anything to compare it to :). But nonetheless, the chopper is very controllable, although I still have to get the trimming right.

Just a quick note, guys, the Engine RPM gauge is measuring percentage, not thousands of RPM, so it's not 1500 or 7000 RPM, but 15% or 70%, etc.

Manual page 3-31, ABRIS MENU/OPTION/SIGNALS, the description of the Top Of Climb warning sounds to me what in the airplane world is referred to as the Bottom Of Climb, meaning the point at which you start a climb to a higher altitude. Once you have reached that altitude, you have passed the Top Of Climb. I was just wondering if this had been a misspelling of sorts, or if in the real ABRIS they do refer to this as the Top Of Climb?

OK, got it, but it still varies with altitude, right? Given the high terrain elevation variance in the BS scenery, OAT would be very useful!

Hi Viper, That sure helps, thanks for the tip! It would be nice to see what the current OAT is, though, as it will change drastically in altitude, and also geographically on longer missions. I guess what I am thinking is that the mission briefing temperature is a static snapshot in one location (I think, haven't seen it yet), whereas the OAT would be a dynamic value.

I was going to post this in the "Tracks, Missions, and Campaigns" subforum, but I have a feeling I am the one screwing this up, not the mission. When playing the "Altitude" mission, my left engine keeps dying right around halfway through the mission. I have an idea of what might be happening, but I haven't had time to test this yet (can never get enough time with this sim!). It happens around when the helos I am escorting start their descent to their LZ. I am at 4,000 meters, and around 160 km/h indicated. During cruise, about 5-10 minutes prior, the EKRAN warns me to turn on the rotor de-ice, which I do. I have not turned on engine anti-ice, as I didn't really think about it then, but even now, thinking about it, the "ICE DETECTED" light in the Ice Defrosting Control Panel, in the Rear Auxiliary Panel, is not on, so I am unsure of real icing? Also, is there an Outside Air Temperature (OAT) indication anywhere in the cockpit? Thanks,

I have not downloaded the latest version of the checklist yet, so pardon me if this has already been fixed. I believe turning off the Left and Right EEGs is missing from the Shut Down checklist? Also, it might be useful to have a distinction between a Shut Down and a Secure checklist, where the Shut Down turns off engines, etc., so you can for example refuel and rearm at a FARP, but might keep the APU on and does not shut down the INU, ABRIS, etc., as it would probably happen in real life. Then Secure is where you'd bring all those systems down to shut the bird down for good and go home. What do you think?

You might be seeing what I am seeing, which is the speed in knots and altitude in feet in the bottom "info tab" on the external views, even though my helicopter is set to use metric, so my instrument panel displays km/h and meters, respectively. Not sure there's a way to control just the units of the info bar?

Howdy, Is it just me, or during the testing of Fire Supression System, with fire warning sensors group 3 (GR 3), the "FIRE APU" light does not come on? It works for Groups 1 and 2. Thanks,

Hi everyone, Let me preface by stating that at no point in time does trackIR stop working, it works great. The issue is with the mouse. When i first get into the cockpit, TrackIR is controlling the point of view just fine, and the mouse wheel controls zoom, while the left and right clicks work appropriately. After I go to an outside view and hit F1 to come back into the cockpit, TrackIR is still working just fine, but now the mouse wheel does not control zoom anymore, although the left and right clicks work. If I use C - LAlt, the mouse wheel now controls the zoom, but I have no yellow crosshair cursor and cannot click on any switches. By once again hitting C - LAlt, the yellow crosshairs come back, I can click on switches, but no more zoom being controlled via the mouse wheel. Is there a way to get back to what I first had when entering the cockpit, where the mouse is controlling both zoom and able to click switches? Thanks,
