  1. Wow, lots of questions! I'll try to answer some of your questions to the best of my knowledge, but mainly due to a bit of research. The main hydraulic system supplies the flight control servo actuators for pitch, bank, yaw and collective. In case of a common system failure, it also ensures emergency landing gear extension. The common system supplies the landing gear extend/retract system, the main wheels brakes and cannon steering. In case of a main system failure, it supplies the flight control servo actuators. The main system’s pump is mounted on the left accessory gearbox of the main gearbox, and it operates when the rotors are driven by the engines and also when in autorotation. The common system’s pump is mounted on the aft accessory gearbox of the main gearbox, and it operates when the rotors are turning or when the APU is on. Regarding your question on why we can move the flight controls, I believe that due to the fact the engines are off, and hence the rotors are not moving, there is a lot less resistance in moving the blades, hence a little manual power is enough. Some aircraft that have hydraulic power as the main means of driving flight controls can still have those controls moved in a hydraulic system failure, it just becomes exceedingly hard. In the aircraft I am typed, you would be able to fly her down to a landing, but you'd be one tired, spaghetti-arm pilot once on the ground. Finally, the turbo gear, as I understand it, is a means of connecting the APU to drive the hydraulic system and electrical generators while on the ground, mainly to perform checks. Best regards,
  2. Aha, thanks for the info. So, is there any other visual indication that the INU has aligned?
  3. Hi Wedge, BS should have added a link to the Uninstall executable on your Start menu under Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50. Otherwise, the uninstall executable is in your main Ka-50 folder, where the game was installed. It is called uninstall.exe.
  4. This would be absolutely fantastic, and a great extension of this simulation! Another vote from me!
  5. I believe the HUD only comes up after the INU has aligned. And while the HUD is not up, the "HUD NOT READY" yellow caution light is on on the right overhead panel.
  6. A quick test in my laptop with a GeForce 8600M GS yields the following results with settings of Anisotropic Filtering OFF then set to 16x, respectively. Notice how the gauges with anisotropic filtering turned off get a lot more blurry. Specifically, this is happening in my case (depends on zoom and point-of-view position) with the Radar Altimeter, Airspeed, HSI, G meter, ADI, and EGT. Notice also how it makes no difference on the labels of the Weapons Panel, Rotor RPM, Altimeter, Engine RPM, and Standby ADI. I think the fact that some gauges change and others don't mind confuse people as to what they are getting with tweaking their settings. Anyways, just figured this would be additional info for people playing with their settings, as a comparison. Make sure you click on the imageshack title bar to see the pics in full resolution. Best regards,
  7. Thanks agamemnon, nice info!
  8. I haven't had time to try this, does it work?
  9. Hey Hajduk, You can either check the parking break lever in front of the cyclic, which can be hard to do given the default point of view, or you can open the Controls Indicator Window by pressing RCtrl + Enter and looking for the blinking letter B on the upper left.
  10. Just a note for those of you that might not have seen this yet. I tried the Hard Day mission last night for the first time. I won't spoil it for anyone that hasn't tried it, but I ended up performing a rolling landing and hitting too hard. The bird started shaking during the rollout, and I couldn't understand why. Went to the external view and saw that my left main tire was blown. Visually! Don't have any screenies, but I am sure some of you will be able to reproduce. This simulation is simply awesome.
  11. It would certainly be more realistic, unless in real combat situations the ground crew fires up the chopper to save time? Not sure on this one.
  12. Just an observation that on the mission Altitude you are required to climb to and cruise at 4,000 meters, and the chopper does it just fine. After reaching that altitude and cruising for about 10 minutes, my engine kept dying until I figured out that when the EKRAN warned me to turn on Rotor Anti-Ice, I had to also enable the engine anti-ice. That seems pretty logical, but I was waiting to see the Ice Detected light on the Rear Auxiliary Panel, which never came on, so I wasn't turning on engine anti-ice. Well, it seems as if the Ice Detected light might be inop so far in DCS. Best regards,
  13. Hi guys, Once I switched to the High setting for the game textures, i didn't immediately notice the difference in the cockpit. Then i zoomed in. It seems that you can only see the high res textures when you have zoomed in enough, or that they get blurred when you are at a certain distance. For the Forward Panel, for example, I have to zoom in more than the default cockpit zoom is set to to see the high resolution textures. Hope that helps, and hope that is your case too.
  14. Hi NeoOhm, Check this thread out.
  15. Hey mickslick, On number 1, the autopilot route mode follows the PVI, not the ABRIS, so it will only fly one point at a time. You can select between WAYPOINTS, AIRFIELDS, and TARGET POINTS. Simply enable one of these modes using the keys on the left side of the PVI keypad (towards the front of the Wall Panel), then press the numeric key corresponding to the waypoint.
  16. Hi Moreno, I can't help you with the Save question, but regarding the Altitude mission, check this thread out, it might solve your problem.
  17. Just to report back saying that I turned the engine anti-ice on when the EKRAN told me to turn on Rotor Anti-Ice, and did not experience any more engine problems. I am still wondering why the Ice Detected light on the rear right panel does not come on? Is it a bug? Thanks for all the help,
  18. Hi Ferski, Wow, that's really an eye opener of a video! Thanks for the links.
  19. I agree with HogRider, no one is denegrating ED here, we're all praising them, but there should be no problem in asking for a feature. If they consider it or not is not the point, it is a simple request.
  20. Just a quick note to wombat and Prophet, thank you very much for this. Just tested on Vista Home Premium 32bit, and it worked well. On a Core 2 Duo T9300 I went from 36 fps to 44 fps (average) in same condition. I loaded a mission and as soon as it loaded and I was sitting in the cockpit, I turned on the frame rate counter in the sim (R-Ctrl + Pause) and watched the fps and sim time. At around 37 seconds after starting, the fps jumped, as expected. The only advice to other might be that once you exit the sim, the empty cmd window that ran the script stays open, and you need to close it by hitting Ctrl + C. Just so they know what to expect. Thanks again!
  21. Haha, I know Timm, same here, just kidding!
  22. Hey guys, Just thinking, are you seeing a ПАУЗА readout on the HUD? If you are, according to the flight manual (English version) page 4-8, that would indicate a "PAUSE" cue - cooling cycle of the laser range-finder in the Target Marker (“ПМ”) targeting mode. Also, I have no idea yet (still learning) if this would work, but try resetting the laser beaming on the front panel, under the HSI, and see if it helps. Finally, try hitting the Laser Reset button on the Targeting mode Control Panel on the left side of the cockpit.
  23. Perfect! Now it's time to turn that invulnerability off and see what happens :D
