I got that excact error message but more often while starting the game. As my pc is to weak to play the sim at the moment (max 20fps....), I am not bothered as I will play the sim later with a better comp later with the western version. Probably with fixing this kind of errors. Just glad to support ED with my 25$ anyway! :)

Everything that can optimize BS is good! ED should give this guys a call! Combat flight simulators is always a hard genre to optimize as the world (read theatre) is large and FM complex.

Here is the content of the last DCS.crash file: # -------------- 20081119-231546 -------------- C:\WINDOWS\system32\kernel32.dll # E06D7363 at 7C812A5B 01:00011A5B # # EAX = 0013EFF0 # EBX = FFFFFFFF # ECX = 00000000 # EDX = 00000003 # ESI = 0013F080 # EDI = 0013F080 # CS:EIP = 001B:7C812A5B # SS:ESP = 0023:0013EFEC EBP = 0013F040 # DS = 0023 ES = 0023 FS = 003B GS = 0000 # Flags = 00000206 7C812A5B 0013F040 0001:00011A5B C:\WINDOWS\system32\kernel32.dll RaiseException()+52 7C812A5B 0013F040 0001:00011A5B C:\WINDOWS\system32\kernel32.dll RaiseException()+52 7C359AED 0013F080 0001:00018AED E:\Spill\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\bin\stable\MSVCR71.dll _CxxThrowException()+34 024688AB 7C3AC1D1 0001:000078AB E:\Spill\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\bin\stable\NewInput.dll ??4NewInput@@QAEAAV0@ABV0@@Z()+53B 56ADE87C 3CDC9CB8 0000:00000000 It crashed most of the times while I tried mapping my rudder. Anyway, I saw that my rudder was actually working and my stick too! I was a little impatient, so I closed the game as the loading was slow. I waited after clicking instant action and the mission loaded. (After nearly 5 minutes!) Performance.....bad on my system. (P4 3GHZ, 2GB RAM, 8600GT DDR3) With low textures and scenes, water on normal, I have no more than 20FPS. Guess the new FM etc takes a huge load on the cpu. Need to get a better system to enjoy this sim. Flying this heli needs practice! :book: I just can´t hold it still and it is also hard with the low fps. EDIT: After clearing the tempfolder and rebooted, I have not had a crash yet, but the game is unplayable on my system anyway. Too low fps compared to Lock On FC. I bet the FM needs RAW cpupower! Back to Lock On FC and Falcon 4.0 AF untill I get a new system.

I am getting several CTD, runtime errors, launcher errors. I have only been able to watch a demoflight. Track Ir is not working (no blue light when game starts.) If I enter instant action (belive it´s is the middle button on the menu) the game goes to windows and game stops to respons...bet I have to wait for the western release...BTW: I bought the game by www.digitalcombatsimulator.com I also have trouble mapping my Saitek rudders...

What about SOW? Not finished yet, but I think it has some pretty good FM and damagemodelling after what I have read from Oleg. Not released yet, I know.... I voted BS.

I to printed out the Flaming Cliffs manual. Only in black and white though..I used two HP catridges. My wife was just shaking heads when I did it. I felt like a "nerd" but I felt much better when indexing the manual and when I started to read I learned much faster than looking on a PDF manual. Also, just by sitting in the couch reading randomly was more fun and I picked up bits and pieces much faster.

Holy smoke!what happened to this mod?
Kaptein_Damli replied to skarden's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I remember this mod last year at the very same time as now. We all hoped it would be released before christmas that year. He released his terrain mod "LORELOAD" later with the same runwaytextures but he has not released what you see in these pictures. I think he´s with SIM-MOD and hired by ED to do some BS work. I think it´s not finished because of this? Maybe someone else can continue his work and release it? Would be nice to see more objects at airbases. -
I read somewhere you could use keyboardcommands zooming in/out in the cockpit without using Track IR? I have Track IR, but somehow I want to use the keyboard to zoom in/out as it is more "fluid" . Can I just disable zoomaxis in Track IR and then map keycommands for zooming out/in? Anyone? I find zooming in and looking around in cockpit to be somewhat crapped as my head tilts down away from IR cam... I feel using the keyboard to zoom in/out, and then look around with Track Ir to be more fluid!?

+1! Totally agree with you! :D I think I will wait untill BS is released with the new engine. Anyone know the timeschedule of the new engine? BTW: Trees in IL-2 looks the best I have seen from above, but it´s 2D trees, but you are not supposed to be on the ground are you! ;) hehe.. Anyway, the bright Oleg did this to get good fps and good visuals. I just miss some new fresh ideas and not water rendering under terrain. Let´s hope the new engine rocks! :pilotfly:
-
People want better fps and graphics and I know that is a very hard task regarding combat sims. BUT, when we see the same "water renders under terrain" after 5 years, questions are to be made. The fact that the community (or lockonfiles) have to tweak the water (again!) and not ED, concerns me a little but I have big hopes for the new engine! I guess we all can live with for a while. My guess is that ED has used as much resources as possible on making the FM of KA-50 as good as possible. Homever, as they have people at SIM-MOD in their team, I was hoping for a optimized engine from Lock On but I guess there was not time. BTW: Isn´t BS optimized for dual cores? I remember reading this from a FAQ somewhere? Maybe ED could get in touch with Oleg at Maddox and take a look at his new engine. Why develop two different engines if you could mod his(?). Also take a look how good water is looking in a sim from 2001 (IL-2). That was 7 years ago and IL-2 stills look good. I have had good fps from day 1 I played IL-2.
-
Some people have opinions. Sorry if I do not agree with most of you.
-
What bothers me is why they still renders water under terrain where it will not be visible and the result is lesser fps if they would not. I was hoping they avoided or recoded the engine before lauching BS. To me it looks like the old FC engine with a complex KA-50 FM (which is good), but I know of the new engine they have in developing, just in the meantime I was hoping they avoided the render under water thingy. Maybe it´s hard to remove and it is limits of the previous engine, but do not misunderstand me, I appreciate how good BS looks now when it comes to 6DOF, complex FM, damage modelling, clickable cockpit etc. I was just hoping for a better engine (at first release of BS) and if not, a better FC engine. My guess is not. Nothing to be so upset for me commenting it.
-
You kidding my right? Why do they do the same mistake again? Hmm...I think I will wait untill BS comes with the new engine...This is very 2003´ish...
-
That does not sound good...I was hoping ED had learned from Lock On FC about the coding and optimizing of the sim. I was hoping BS was more GPU dependent than CPU dependent as FC is very CPU dependent. This may be because of the older engine they use in BS is almost the same as it was in FC. Hoping their new engine will be better optimized.
-
I think the problem is how big sims like Lock On FC etc are compared to fps shooters like COD 4 where you have limited space to move in (read: maps). When we fly Lock On, the whole theatre has to be loaded, therefor the big need for RAM. In 2003, it was not common to have 4GB RAM. So I think the devs looked to to future. I think people with todays hardware are seeing what Lock On FC really shows, 5 years later. BUT! It is still Direct X 8, and I bet if the game was written today it would be coded a lot more effective due to newer direct X10 and newer software/hardware. Problem is that devs do not know what will be standards 5 years from now. I actually think that to make such a good looking sim like Lock On FC by 2003 standards is just remarkable with the resources they had at that time. Of course, problem with devs behind Lock On is the small number of employees compared to devs of bigger fps games. More resources, more people, better code, better optimizing of the code. Combat sims is a small market and we can´t actually choose between that many titles. I just hope Eagle Dynamics have learned the errors done in Lock On like making the CPU do a lot of the work. At the time the game was made there was single cores and not that strong GPU´s so they must have thought the game would run better with less resources on the GPU. Games like COD 4 is very GPU dependent and less CPU dependent than Lock On. It´s odd thinking about another game, Operation Flashpoint ran better on my old P3 1GHZ than my P4 3.0 GHZ because the game that time (2001) was made to 2001 standards. I bet my older GPU card handled that type of graphics better than my new one which supports more shaders etc than old open GL/Direct X7 etc. Also take a look at Falcon 4.0 AF. Graphics in that game is by 1998 standards. Regardless of that, a lot of people are still playing it! I even got 20 fps while using the radar at ground targets and there is a lot of activity. It will always be like this. People like us playing combat sims needs to have the latest equipment to fully enjoy our sims and that will never change! EDIT: I got my F4 AF to run better now by disabling T&L and I sat it to Direct 3D HAL only! Got 10 fps better!
-
Isn´t it odd that you need late 2008 equipment to get a game from 2003(!) to run smooth? That just shows how bad Lock On FC is coded. I love the game, but not it´s performance. I have moved to Falcon 4.0 AF because of my old system and fps in F4 AF is at 40-50 average and makes the experience of the sim more enjoyable with smooth fps. I belive I have used more time tweaking Lock On FC than actually playing it...My system is: P4 3.0 GHZ, 2GB RAM, 8600GT. I have around 25 over cities with medium settings. Homever, playing COD 4 multiplayer with around 20-30 people in a server I get around 90 FPS average with medium settings. COD 4 came last year...:P EDIT: Well....I was tempted to join the dark side (Falcon 4.0 AF lol) but when I saw my fps when using groundradar together with maverick TV guiding my fps over SEOL was as low as 17-18!! Back to Lock On again! (Don´t care if it´s not clickable cockpits, I want rock solid fps!) I installed the newest NVIDIA drivers, tweaking my Nvidia controlpage settings and BAM! Now I have around 30FPS over cities with medium scenery, high textures, medium water etc, etc. I have LOREALOD mod and some watertweaksmod. I think my old GPU driver was pretty outdated. Didn´t thought it would help so much with a new driver as the game is old, but now it´s fun to dogfight again over cities! :) (Avg. 40 fps while dogfighting over cities around 10000 feets.)

External view problem...
Kaptein_Damli replied to deltahawk2008's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
How? I have another problem too, when I take off, my rudder works, but suddenly after just 1-2 minutes I have no rudder! This happens only in Lock On, not Falcon or IL-2. Anyone? I see a green light on my Saitek rudderpedals, so it is attached. Does this has something to do with the crazy camerarotate in F2? Think I have to reinstall Lock On again...(sigh)...Hate when such things happens. It also happened after upgrading the Track Ir driver... -
External view problem...
Kaptein_Damli replied to deltahawk2008's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I too have the same problem. After minutes of flying, suddenly the F2 view rotates fast! Dunno why, but taking of my track IR cap, solves the problem! May be caused by new drivers for Lock On by Natural Point? -
I had to manually drop the files in temptextures to make it work! If I install it via ModMan, I get it green, but it will be like in the attached picture. I installed Ruggbutts mod and RELOAD mod first, then yours. Dunno why, but all other mods installs fine via Modman. Strange. Doing it manually I feel I have less controls of mods. Anyone else having trouble or conflicts with other mods installing via ModMan? Anyway, nice work. Maybe the cities with satelittephoto needs to be more smooth with the terrain. I also think the terrain is somewhat bluish. More green colour would be better? Awesome mod anyway!
-
Unfornutalely, I can´t get it to work. I have LORELOAD mod and Ruggbuts mod (all season except summer), and then I installed your mod last. See attached picture. I still got summer RELOAD terrain, I see new rivers, but the runway is odd! Something I have done wrong? Installed with latest Modman. Have tried ro remove other mods to see if there was a conflict, but no luck. ScreenShot_000.bmp

Is the sheltermod included or do I need to download that seperatly? Downloading now! Looks awesome! Rep inbound! EDIT: Maybe you should edit you first page so new people will find the mod without reading 9 pages? Spread the news! :)

1080p (1920 x 1080) Menu and loading screens (Widescreen)
Kaptein_Damli replied to jason_peters's topic in DCS Modding
Does anyone have 1280X1024 version? -
Release it, release it, release it! :D Just can´t wait for this to be finished! May be doing a new movie with this mod as well! A dogfight movie!
-
Looking sweet! I see you are from Norway Shaggy! (By the Norwegian mark on the Mirage). Man we got some real talented guys from the north! GA and you! If you want another betatester, add me in! BTW: Will your mod conflict with Ruggbutt season terrain mod (like RELOAD mod, but with all seasons) or is this summer only? Any plans on other seasons? Would be nice with a nordic winterlook and nordic cities! :) Dette ser bra ut! Trenger litt europeisk "look"! Etter det jeg har hørt er det noen som faktisk mekker på en Gripen mod om jeg ikke husker feil i fra lockonfiles.com.

DCS: Black Shark, Russian Version has gone gold
Kaptein_Damli replied to Wags's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
This is an english forum....would be great if you wrote your opinion in english like everyone else. I am also a bit disapointed of what happened, but what is worse is closing threads and banning members just because they have an opinion the devs nok like...
