  1. Regarding the view, it's been reported: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=260074
  2. To refine your idea, use a spring loaded piece of metal for the breaking, and you can achieve the same effect but with the electromagnet OFF by default and ON (working against the spring) when hitting the button. A bit safer and less power consuming in case you forget to turn your design OFF. This you might very well have thought of already, but I recommend operating the electromagnet through a relay with the same voltage for the controlling terminal as the digital input on whatever controller board you will use.
  3. Also, I remember seeing some statements coming from some well regarded flight sim magazine some years ago (cant find it though), saying the DCS Mi-8 was the best AIRCRAFT simulation ever made, even compared to avaliable fixed wings. Regarding the to-easy-to-encounter VRS. My theory is that it's simply a design decision to force the virtual pilots to fly it as it is supposed to, not pulling the brakes and slam it to the ground. Very tempting when in a hot zone getting hit by smal arms fire (the seemingly most deadly municion for the 8 at the moment), but not realistic. So I believe it's a choice between unrealistic piloting (that affects the mission success) or an unrealistically easy established VRS, the later which you should be able to easily avoid with correct piloting anyhow.
  4. So, disabled all MODs (hopefully) and created a new mission with the Gazelle Minigun, Huey with door gunners and the Mi-8 with door gunner. Directions given relative helicopter and both Huey gunners. During recording: Gazelle: View backwards Huey: View forward Mi-8: View forward First replay (file): (no restart of DCS for any replay) Gazelle: View left towards the gunner Huey: View backwards Mi-8: View backwards Second replay: Gazelle: View forward Huey: View forward Mi-8: View forward Third replay: Gazelle: View right (normal) Huey: View forward Mi-8: View forward Fourth replay: As during recording Fifth replay: As first replay .... and so on, Huey and Mi-8 alternating forward/backward, Gazelle "rotating" clockwise 90deg/replay. Hope you can use the file this time. Side Gunner Head 90deg Wrong 2.trk
  5. Bugger. I'll try, hope it will manifest itself again.
  6. Now this is strange! I attached a track file from a test run to see if I could replicate this. I started in the Gazelle Minigun. There the view was correct for the side gunner. After testing some other stuff (don't mind the mouse cursor) I entered the Huey. Both door gunners had the view turned 90deg BACKWARDS. There I stopped and saved the track. Just to make sure I got the issue recorded, I replayed the file (not from the debriefing screen). There the view for the Gazelle side gunner was turned BACKWARDS while in game it was fine! In the Huey the view had turned 180deg and now pointed FORWARD while in game they were BACKWARDS! So since the track didn't replay the same as in game, I don't know if the track file will be of any help. I cross my fingers. Edit: After a DCS restart and a second replay, the views was back as in game at recording. Side Gunner Head 90deg Wrong.trk
  7. Never seen it nor heard of it before (have had both Huey and Mi-8 for many years) until just a few days ago in the Gazelle with the minigun, with Track-IR, in SP and latest beta. Sitting on the rtight side, looking straight backwards. Next time I started DSC everything worked fine. Seems to be a DCS issue and not a particular Huey one.
  8. Actually it should. I very seldom use the "autopilot" feature, but when I have it does work for me and I have used the "joystick with no spring or FFB" for a long time. They should be unrelated, unless something changed recently.
  9. If you have waypoints active, yes. But if no waypoints or all waypoint buttons on the PVI is turned off (or the entire PVI), it doesn't matter in what position the switch is. Sorry for nitpicking.
  10. I believe he meant the throttle, the shorter handle on the roof.
  11. To me it works, no matter in what possible I have the two switches. Do you happen to have a waypoint active on the PVI? If so, the diamond on the HUD will point towards it. Turn the waypoint button off will make the diamond follow your heading when trimming.
  12. Tested just now with latest beta, works for me. With the MOD installed, go into "[game folder]\Mods\aircraft\Uh-1H\Input\UH-1H" and then either "joystick" or "keyboard". Open "default.lua" with a good text editor like Notepad++. See if the line "-- This [MOD] --" is present early in the file, just below the line "keyCommands = {". If it's not present, something is wrong with the installation of the MOD.
  13. For what I know the Mi-8 never had it, so can't be re-enabled as for the Huey. I don't know if the functionality can be ported over.
  14. Looking forward to the release! Nice to see some progress. But take your time and don't feel rushed.
  15. Maybe not the answer you hope for, but practice, practice and more practice is the way to go. You already found out some really important insights yourself, it's not even close to flying a fixed wing and curves is no good. You seem to be doing good so far, just keep at it.
  16. So it's not related to the length then. And yes, I have hall sensors (a modified PFT Lynx). Really peculiar, some have the deadzone, some don't. Haven't tried the saturation, but I'm pretty happy without adjusting it otherwise. I'm with you on the FM, not perfect but quite fun nevertheless, and I mostly just fly around, just recently started playing with weapons. It's the (small) deadzone that is the biggest issue for me right now.
  17. Happy you got it sorted. So now you don't feel any deadzone at all? For me there is still a small but annoying deadzone present, despite having all FFB related settings turned off/zeroed out. By using a small custom curve tweak I can mask it but not get rid of it entirely. I have seen others mention they get the deadzone to disappear completely by disabling the FFB, and I'm very curious why some have a total success while others (me) only get an improvement but still present. I fly with a full length (-ish) cyclic, while you have an ordinarily joystick. I wonder if my longer stick makes me more sensitive to it? Who knows... End of rambling...
  18. Keep it up! [emoji106] Happy new year, for you and the BO!
  19. Yeah, that aoto assignment can be a real PITA. Happy you got it sorted.
  20. Did the above tips help? If not this made me wonder: Instant missions and tutorials generally start with engine on. Do you check the main rotor before entering the cockpit (I think it should be possible to hit F2 while paused before start)? When starting in air, do you just fall of the sky? Immediately after the "clunk", hit pause and go to F2 view and look around the helicopter (a bit zoomed out). Do you see the main rotor going about by itself away from the helicopter, or laying on the ground close by? If so, you encountered mast bumping. Then something with your hardware controls are not right. Stick deflected much in any direction when starting?
  21. No, when you describe the issue it sounds as if you have it turned off already. Turning it on might help, then the levers should take the same position as your hardware controls (in your case that would mean the engines would slow down to idle when starting with engines running, if not putting your hardware throttle at the right position directly).
  22. Looks good. Have you been flying the Huey (or other helicopters) with the unmodified stick on the table for a long time? Then it might just be your mussel memory screwing with you. If that's the case follow the tips on having your arm relaxed on your leg flying with your fingers as described several times above, and then it's just (again) practice, practice and more practice.
