Sorry if misunderstanding, but have you seen this?: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=4188121 (#26)

You don't happen to be involved in any way, don't you? ;-) Edit: Disregard, Gunnar! I believe I actually asked you exactly this a while back. My memory is failing on me quicker every year...

But then you need to jump back and forth between map and flying, mind you. The kneeboard with the marker is used while flying. But I don't know how it looks in VR. Most important is that you find a way that suits you.

!!! THE BIRDS are jealous !!! The BO-105 will taste the air of DCS

Fabulous news! Hope all the best for your cooperation and future of this beloved bird! So excited for the HKP! (GO SWEDEN!) -
Indeed, regarding the twist-grip. "Normal" helicopters like the Huey have the anti torque rotor that needs constant (sometimes static) adjustment due to several phenomena, tedious with twist-grip. The Ka-50 on the other hand has the coaxial twin rotors, effectively canceling the need for anti torque, hence much easier for twist-grip users.

Checklist feature/Read Outs as in Oilfield?
Holton181 replied to Crimson_Ghost138's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Ah, yes, I had forgotten about that. Thanks for the reminder. -
I realize this is a good opportunity to do some advertising, if I may :music_whistling: If you use some sort of aviation app on your phone or familiar with spoofing the GPS on it, I made a small utility to use your phone/tablet as a moving map. Independent of vehicle operated: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3303310/ Guess it's a bit OT...

The arrow button on the top left of the screen while in F10 map.

You have a possibility to (manualy by key combination) mark your current position on the map with an arrow pointing your heading. I don't remember the default key combo, but it includes the 'k'. Just go into the key maping and hit 'k' + different modifiers (left/right shift/ctrl/alt) and see what's coming up. I have that command maped to one of my hotas buttons.
-
Use the maps on your kneeboard and position markers (sorry I didn't remember the key mapings for them, but they both uses 'k' and possibly a modifier, look in the keyboard mapings). That and your eyes and compass, map reading skills are good to have. That is the general way I do it. But you also have radio beacons you can tune in to, three different radios depending on what kind of beacon. All airports I believe have a beacon nearby. But you need to read the manual for this. You can find general radio navigation tutorials around the net for more advanced use.

I might take a look next time I fly, a long time since I had a look at this feature. -

I believe you need to have avionics in Russian and red coalition (if not Russian). Only Russian voice files exist for this feature. -
Mi-8 controls frozen during training
Holton181 replied to Fang333333's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Regarding the fans. Do you have your throttle handle (goes by a different name in the Mi-8) turned all the way up (pilots left wrist towards right, contrary to the Huey), so the engines are operating in their working RPM and the generators are enabled? They are disabled when the RPM is below a certain value, and hence many functions relaying on them stop working, including the fans. (when starting with the engines running, the "clicker" warning about low RPM is enabled and you will hear a clicking sound at low RPMs. This warning system has to be turned on on the right pilots overhead side panel.) -
Guys, first answer in this very thread: Even if Ragnar uses "I believe", he is one of the developers so he has a bit more insight than us.

Possible to open door from cockpit to cargo hold?
Holton181 replied to Gerg's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Just went to bed so can't test myself for a while, but if this is true there is one thing I like to try. The flight engineer isn't present on his seat when having selected a sling cargo. He is keeping an eye on the sling through the hole in the floor in the compartment. Maybe this keybinding have an effect in this particular situation, when the flight engineer isn't blocking the door? I don't believe it, but have never tried it (actually didn't know the keybinding existed). -
As I remember, it is functional but not animated. Look on the compass while operating the dial. And I think the compass move rather slowly.

Modifying Head movement TrackIR
Holton181 replied to jetstorm96's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
I found a small issue with the Server.lua from the proper neck MOD, and hence the file I shared above. Don't know if it matters, but here it goes: In the Mi-8MT section line 276 (player slot 3, limits_6DOF), the x values are {-4.5,0.4} in the original file, but {-0.2,0.4} in proper neck. The MOD is old so I assume the values changed at some stage after release. Just change the -0.2 to -4.5. -

Modifying Head movement TrackIR
Holton181 replied to jetstorm96's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
The instructions for the proper neck says to enable user snap views, and the snapviews.lua is indeed part of the MOD. I believe the reason for it being that when adjusting the neck, the FOV is somewhat altered, and the snapviews.lua have the FOV values corrected to correspond to the original. I think it is described more in detail in the first post by PeterP, the creator. But if you don't want the proper neck MOD, I believe you should be able to correct the Mi-8 lateral limits just by copying the original server.lua from the game folder to your saved games, add the Mi-8 values from its view.lua and correct the z value above (yes, naming the aircraft correctly is important). To be honest, I don't know whether you must have user snap views enabled for this to work. Guess you have to try. -
Modifying Head movement TrackIR
Holton181 replied to jetstorm96's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Indeed that's it! The last version can be found in post #724, but the original MOD doesn't have the corrected lateral limits for the Mi-8, and they missed out the "ShoulderSize" setting for the Mi-8 and one Huey door gunner. I attach my corrected version of the Proper Neck MOD. The lateral limits are the 'z' value in "limits_6DOF" on line 259, numbers are switched compared to original, not sign. Place them in [saved games]\DCS[version]\Config\View, and enable snapviews in settings. If you have the F-16 add the lines from here to the Server.lua. Server.lua SnapViews.lua -
Modifying Head movement TrackIR

If I remember and have the time later on (seldom coincide...) I have a look how I did it. Don't have it in my head right now, but I'm using the "proper neck" MOD (don't remember the full name). This is actually a bug, the two numbers for lateral limits are shifted in the view.lua. -
Indeed! One of the more important features for helicopter operations, actual interaction with fellow AI helicopters as their comander, independent of helicopter model. Much like in the excellent Jane's Longbow series from the '90ies. With the Ka-50 we have some capabilities, using the datalink, but only between Ka-50ies. I guess it's up to ED, and unfortunately unlikely to happen due to the focus on fixed wings (which doesn't have much use of this capability for what I understand).
