Black Shark 2: Republic Campaign
zantron replied to kontiuka's topic in Black Shark 2 The Republic Campaign
Honestly I much prefer the fictional setting. Besides making things politically neutral (im not some politically correct fanatic, but DCS should be fun, and no fun - or profit - if youre forced in order to play your favorite plane in a campaign to bomb your own country in a war that may have personally affected you or family, esp true when more middle east maps come out) Maybe it's because of old school PS2 Ace Combat (and its chessy but epic story lol) but I find the fictional setting more immersive, at least in a modern setting. I mean I am not an American or Russian pilot or in the military (or really flying an A-10), but Osean fighter jocky? Yeah I can dig that. Like you said so long as the systems and tactics and aircraft are as close to the real thing as possible, Im a happy duck. Plus in fictional setting you can, at least I think so, do so much more with having creative and colorful characters to mission scenarios to having equipment. For example Russia has like 10 airworthy Tu-160s, they wouldnt risk them I would think in a warzone with heavy air defence unless world war III is going down. But, comrades! The butcher enemy has sent flight of Tu-160s, their target is our airfield, your mission is to intercept! I do admit though while "the republic" sounds cool to me, a name to the enemy besides just calling them an epithet like butcher would be more fun. edit: i think too fictional setting on servers that have red and blue equipment for both sides like the 104th would make multiplayer a little more fun, at least for me. Not to mention painting each side with consistent paint scheme would make identification a lot easier lol since we dont have AWACS, at least mot of the time, but thats all another thread -
i really do think we need a texan now

after wrecking about 80 or so bf109s i am undaunted :pilotfly: -
lol oops im derailing the thread, but id rather have a t-6 over the tigermoth, mostly because the t-6 can do some more ground attack
-
gloster gladiator would be a nice choice for a biplane, would go good with that I-16 mod thats being worked on. i sorta think though rise of flight has the wwi stuff covered pretty well. with a t-6 it would be fun, once pacific maps come out, to recreate some movie scenes like from tora tora tora
-
firstly hawk t1a was excellent choice. secondly yes id buy a t6!!

im really betting on the viggen, if off chance its not ten mig23 or tornado

Are we going to see full DCS level versions of any FC3 aircraft?

belsimtek has been thinking about it for a while -
How many modules are you REALLY proficient at?
zantron replied to Pizzicato's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
none here though i fly the bf109 and su27 a lot, and suck at both yeah my friend and i both got mig-15s to use as a trainer (we were thinking since they used mig15 UTI forever, bis is good enough) just to learn how to really fly, navigate, fight etc then once we become "proficient" in that move on to mig21 to learn that 100%. im trying to get my uncle and also my friends dad into DCS, with them i plan on getting them trainers (C-101 or Hawk when they get to EFM, both of which I own - im more of a warsaw pact sort of guy but they like american stuff and those trainers use western style avionics) hoping by then i'll know enough to teach them -
oh cool, you won a mirage? :) good luck everyone on the a-10
-
ive always had a crush on the yak 38 ever since i saw one get blown up in red dawn, back as a small lad... thinking of a red dawn campaign on neveda, that would be fun
-
for training i see little point since its just as complex as any other piston fighter of the era, would like to see a t-6 though just because i like airplanes
-
i hope the unreliability of the engines (true of course for all jet engines of this era) is accurately portrayed
-
maybe but im more inclined to think, without any evidence, that it'll be single seat.. personally im betting on the viggen. tornado ids would fit both the nautical theme of upcoming dcs (german marineflieger) and straights map with saudi tornados pretty good though :)
-
nvm, not engine attachment bolts, 3/8" too small, the ones ive seen in my limited career are wider
-
those bolts used to attached the engines? bombardier challenger 601 uses the GE CF34-3b turbofans, which are variants of the military CF34 which is used by the A-10, the Sikorsky S-72.... and the S-3 Viking

nooooooo :( going to buy two or three thinking by ending monday meant end of monday :( oh well always next time, sniff

if somebody has access to an aerodynamic computer program that aerospace engineers use, wouldnt that be good enough for a AFM? i imagine that would be quite thing to do though, the software costs thousands of dollars no doubt and if theres an engineer around with access to one would take a lot of work to build a flight model in the program i imagine. -
this was very awesome, thanks to magic and showtime!

pffffffffffft that russian air force recruiter can call me once they release the pfm

Something I would like to ask real WW2 fighter pilots
zantron replied to Charley's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
thats the impression i get from reading books and comments i hear on youtube and tv. nonetheless it would usually go low no matter what on the return trip, the p-51s would go down to strafe anything that looked interesting if they hadn't already expended ammo (my grandmother remembered this particularly when they were retreating with the german army in austria while in route to bavaria, they were on the train and the alert would come and everyone would jump off running for their lives as american planes, probably p-51s, would strafe the train. this happened quite a few times in her journey, they had a special nickname for the attackers i wish i could remember it) i heard a tuskagee airman speak and if i remembered right they were at around 8-10k ft and they ended up really low when he got shot down, but the wiki article says it seems he was on a ground attack mission so i guess my memory isn't correct https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Jefferson
