  1. Well, if you teach some people now, maybe in round 6 they'll be much more proficient...? ;)
  2. Thanks for the good news! I'm joining now!
  3. Comment of the day, for sure. :megalol:
  4. You completely missed my point. I was originally making fun of people asking for balanced player counts, which I ((apparently) incorrectly) referred to as 'balanced teams'. I hate word games. :D Hope that clears it up!
  5. Check the context in which that was used - I agree with you. I was explaining what I meant in an earlier post. :)
  6. Fun or funny? I'd find it funny, but not too much fun. In any case, its felt pretty even in-game, checking the board right now shows its fairly balanced in terms of numbers. Red seems a bit more coordinated than Blue, btw...So that might play into this somehow... Balanced player count = Balanced teams, for me at least...Not sure how you think/thought of those terms. :)
  7. HURR DURR Blue outnumbers red at some point in the day, please cap player amount. You want balanced teams? Go play COD!
  8. ^That'd be real interesting... Reminds me of FB-22! :(
  9. Best advice in the thread.
  10. You're not surrendering the field, you're flying a sweep sortie (almost) where controlling the airspace is unimportant; The other team ain't coming to bomb your airfield, yo! Its incredible how you expect everyone to have some perfect tactic to help you. I'm assuming a 104th server style scenario, mostly everyone launches whenever they can, not too much coordination above section/flight level, etc. Edit: As for Sinus's comment, the Flanker-B has an intraflight datalink - Not sure if you're familiar with the Ka-50, but its quite similar in operation (AFAIK).
  11. Get some numbers, get some ETs, drag Eagles where you want them. Remember that 75% of what you're probably fighting are noobs that WILL let themselves be pulled around the map. If that doesn't work, left control W a few times and GTFO. You are at a disadvantage in BVR sensors and weapons, but its not quite, say, MiG-23 vs F-22.
  12. In Karlo Kopp's world it is. I'm not even joking! :D As for the -27T silly business...Do you people even flank? There's a lot of flat land if you know where to find it...
  13. Oooooooooooooh! That's sexy.
  14. Then there's the counter to that rule: 'Why run anyone out of fuel if you can enable unlimited fuel'. Edit: Yeah, I suppose you're right...The R-3R still out-accelerates a 9M (which I suppose shouldn't be all that unrealistic...except that it was doing Mach 3+ at 10,000ft...IIRC) and the CM rejection, as mentioned, is hilarious.
  15. DCS's R-3Rs aren't representative of the real one. The real one sucks The DCS one is something I want on my F-15. See the problem there? I'd rather have 2 1960s vintage SARH SRMs than 2 1990s IR SRMs...
  16. The victor will be the guy who follows up with a LOT of cruise missiles once that first wave starts landing. One sortie for you! :D
  17. >Picard on BVR Just saying... :P Edit: As for the OP, BVR is the thing today, it'll be the thing tomorrow, too. WVR can and will happen, but it ain't gonna be Topgun. The thing we all love - Maneuvering fights - Those don't happen anymore...I'd rather let the missile go rate around the circle than my nose. DCS (specifically FC3) doesn't currently model in-depth some of the things that could seriously impact a BVR engagement... I'm pretty sure we'll get there eventually, for example look at the Mirage (yes the missiles are foam darts, I know...), it'll probably have the most realistic radar in-game for a while...Once Razbam is finished with some patches and stuff.
  18. Oh the great "CAS means aircraft is close to ground" arguments. Obviously the A-10 PE upgrades are just oh so unnecessary if the mk1 eyeball is the worlds best targeting pod! And you get two of them per jet!!!!!!
  19. I'm putting that in my sig Monkey.
  20. A little note on realism: We don't have capabilities or training similar to those in the mentioned conflict. There isn't really a simulation that can pull that off...We can get close, but there are some things missing here and there that'd play into an air war (like jamming, proper AI where we can't control things, AWACS/other ISR assets, etc), IMO. Blue Flag is for FUN! Its open to all sorts of people and sometimes you don't really have coordination or skill on one side or another...Of course your losses will be high! :book:
  21. Haven't seen that many women on here, maybe two or three in the past 3 or so years I've been playing. No idea about the skill, I'd imagine its really just an output of how much they are interested in the subject and how much time they might have to learn/play/etc. BTW, the gals on here didn't seem to do things differently than the rest of us, if that's what you're really wondering about.
  22. Not sure if cool music videos are alright for something of a news thread, but I found this a few days ago (also not sure if it was posted already...):
  23. Isn't the -54 SARH midcourse to terminal ARH?
  24. That is a very interesting story.
