With the EL/M-2032's claimed 100km range, I'm not sure if the MiG-21bis will be THAT superior before the merge. Especially when you use the bad weather templates in the mission editor and the Caucasus map. The MiG-21 is really blind as a bat at longer ranges and in bad weather. It will be really interesting to see how the F-5 tactics will develop when the module arrives

From the stories I've heared the F-14 was a maintenance handfull. From your experience, what were the biggest issues with the jet? And do you have any remarkable stories you can tell us? And seeing as the Iranian F-14 are going into their 4th decade of service with the IRIAF, including complete neglect during the first years after the revolution, not to mention almost a decade of intense war in a sandy environment; any ideas how they've been able to operate them without US support? I really hope Leatherneck will simulate the circuit breakers!:joystick:

What is the info shown when you log-in at http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/ ? Does it tell you the serial number is valid?

About the Tone: And yeah, still no fix for the MiG-21 radar published by ED

You shouldn't use Ausairpower.net as a source. The writer, Carlo Kopp, doesn't substantiate his "facts" with sources and is known to use his own bias in articles, especially if it concerns the F-22 and F-111 :)

*sigh* Another week, and still no MiG-21 patch included :(

http://www.belsimtek.com/news/ So the plan is before May 8th, if there are no delays...

Go to 8000 m, achieve over mach 1 and push the stick. The aircraft won't like it, but red-out will definitely occur. Same with the TF-51D, altough earlier and at lower speeds obviously.

SAM's tend to be much more powerful than AA-missiles. For comparison, even the ancient SA-2 already had a 200 kg warhead with a 30 km range. The AIM-120 carries a tenth of that...

Check 1:55, what the hell happened to the front of that canopy?! @Aginor: Sounds like a great read, what is the title of the book?

Hey guys, For quite some time, I'm looking at the UH-1 and Mi-8 modules but i'm really concerned my gear isn't up to snuff. I own a TM Hotas X, which is fine for flying but horrible for precise inputs (forget about dogfighting with guns or taking off with a Kurfurst with it). It has a twist stick and the throttle is excellent value, but reading the horrors of trying to master the Huey makes me worried. Do you guys have any experience with the Hotas X and using it for the UH-1/Mi-8?

Caucasus Map Texture DLC by Starway
Vincent90 replied to Starway's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
This is a false argument: ED doesn't sell ownership of the modules, but a license to use the software on 1 PC. This is a hostile and defensive argument which doesn't take away customer concerns, I'm always amazed by the use of it on the forum. Each person that thinks of buying a good or service thinks about the value that the product will represent in their life. Your opinion is that the price is reasonable; other opinions are that the price is unreasonable. Both opinions have the same weight, and the great thing is that opinions can't be right or wrong, as long as they are properly argumented :) They are not complaints, they are valid points of critique against the DLC. In my personal life, I'm not interested in blowing smoke up myself; I only care about the negatives in my work and what can be improved. And so should every organization think IMHO. EDIT: Again, I think the terrain is very high quality and Starway did a great job at it, but the whole pricing reminds me of the "Horse Armor" episode for Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, when DLC was in its infantcy -
Caucasus Map Texture DLC by Starway
Vincent90 replied to Starway's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I cannot agree with you more :) Modders should be able to earn money for their effort, but the value proposition for this texture pack is just ludicrous. I still need to work an hour and a half for it and get no gameplay benefit for it in return. I like flying low and exploring the region, but 15 bucks for the same low fidelity map with generic buildings is just too much to rationalize for me. I'd rather invest the money in taking my girl to the movies or a couple of rounds in a bar thank you very much -
Couple of questions about this module and scrolling 130 pages during my lunch break is a bit too much :P 1) Doesn't BST's F-5 have a radar? If so, then why Isn't there any radar guided stuff planned? 2) Will this module come with a campaign?

109, issues to address before leaving beta
Vincent90 replied to ShadowFrost's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Hey Racoon, Does this also mean a more realistic approach to damage vs AI aircraft? Thank you for your great participation in the forums by the way, it's great to see such an active involvement by ED. -
The plane looks great, although I hope BST adds some content to make it comparable to the other 3rd party modules. Any info if we'll get skins as used by the Soviet Union F-5's?
-
You should wait for the summer and winter sales then
-
Nope, the real thing does it as well
-
Not even bug repairs from 3rd parties?! Damn.... EDIT: Posted too fast, Chizh just updated the changelog for OpenBeta. No MiG-21 radar repairs though....

Leatherneck Q1 Development Update - Part I
Vincent90 replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Real-time physic calculations are as of now still not possible to do with current technology, so LN implements a detailed "look-up table" system with the control logic system separately looking at the solution of that table system Anyway, that is what I get from reading the text -

Leatherneck Simulations New Years Eve Update
Vincent90 replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Is the update still coming Nicholas? -
Ugh, I already passed for the X-52 because of its looks and this goes with the same theme?! Really curious about the quality of it though, can't wait for the first comparisons with the X-55 :)

How do you know the difference between a jam and an empty cartridge?
