The yellow stripes for the Landing areas and all other deck painted lines no longer appear in the Mission Editor. They do however Appear in game. 100 percent reproducible for all versions of the SC, repair and meta shaders/FXO delete have no effect. Restart has no effect. No track as the problem occurs in the Mission editor and not the game. Thanks!

Your still down an aircraft for the next day. It's a tactical loss, maybe it's not a strategic one. But either way the squadron is down a fighter. Quite a bit worse then a few panels. Why not bring the jet back in good shape for the next fight so you can win the war. Rather then get into the logistics of repairing or replacing jets aka the mathematics of defeat? Your making a big assumption that there's a big reserve of jets you can draw from and that losses like that are easy to replace. Don't need to pull the paddle to win in the hornet. Don't need 12Gs to win the eagle. So why do it? Cause more damage to the aircraft then the enemy? Nevermind the possibility of GLoc, nevermind the fact that most of the fighters in the game can STILL out rate you even with the paddle. Nevermind that SRMs don't give a hoot about how many Gs you can pull. Nevermind that over stressing the jet can infact damage control surfaces and cause major flight control issues, possibly resulting the loss of jet anyway. If your gonna die sure yank away, that F-15 pilot did. But why are you in situations you where that is life or death if you don't? That F-15 pilot was a student. What's your excuse? The hornet is more then capable of beating everything in the game without the paddle. The true strength of the jet is it's low speed controllability and nose pointing authority. So why are you not fighting the jet too it's strengths?

https://www.popsci.com/story/technology/f-15-incident/ So here is the result of a 9G aircraft pulling 12. 2.5 million dollars and a unspecified number of weeks/months where that aircraft is unavailable. So did you win? or is that aircraft wreaked just the same. For a certainty it's no longer available for combat during the current campaign, maybe even the war. (In this case the jet might just get scrapped as it's old and didn't have much life left in it anyway) So is that acceptable? I don't think so. That's what we call a loss, or if you did manage to get the enemy too, breaking even.

Oh my bad, your right it was actually free with the naval warfare pack. Looks like you'll be able to afford lunch after all.
-
I've also seen it discounted to 10 dollars, the price of a double quarter pounder meal. Give me a break. Like I said if your that strapped for cash, maybe this isn't the game to get into. Or you know you can use the free to play stuff. I don't know what to say. There's no free lunches if you want quality you gotta pay up. It's not part of the "core game" because you can do just fine without it. It's not like clouds or lighting it's improved realism, and feature rich. Just like every other modules.
-
Might one of those things where it's a pain in the butt to take off for the ground crew, so once its on, it stays on even if the mission doesn't require it. ATFILR for the Hornet is like that, Typically the birds with the pod keep it and its not unloaded after sorties, and the same jets have it and others don't, without much swapping.

Amazing how someone can draw the line at spending money on the SC. I don't understand it. 2000 dollar rig 500 dollar control setup 600 dollar VR set 40 dollars for really accurate comms and high poly model with a bunch of other features. That massively improves immersion.... "hell no, they can't charge for that. That's a paywall I won't cross." Lol it Boggles my mind. If you want to save money This ain't they hobby for you.
-
IMO there's no reason to just hand stuff over for free. Charging for the SC was the only way for them to get value for their effort. None of those features were promised for the core game which is already free to play, and works well enough. The hornet also came with a free carrier as well. So no need to get both if your Mr. Krabs. Individuals who don't think ED deserves compensation for the extra realism need not buy it. But they shouldn't get it for free, that just doesn't make sense. So ED should make additions to the game and not get paid for them. How is that sustainable or smart for them? By the way the voice over stuff and comms logic were evidently the most labor intensive costly aspect of the module. Not the ground crew or 3D art, according to ED.
-
They already said they won't, I'm pretty sure the charts or data pertaining to them is export controlled. The block 50 vipers is not.
-
There's no hard data out here that says the EPE hornet without pylons CANT out rate the viper. Just a lot of pilot testimony and antidotal stories. All of who will almost certainly have had pylons/stores (which by the way makes a huge difference for the hornet specifically) and or have not flown the EPE version, and furthermore are absolutely not sharing hard numbers. So no factual or definite, way to say it's over performing compared to the real thing. We're going to have to trust ED either now the way it is or to fix it if there is an issue. The viper has charts available and ED has posted their targets for it so not really worth comparing the two. Since we don't have the information we need. But the premise that the viper is just a rate monster compared to the hornet and should STR the hell out of it across the envelope may just turn out to be false and or is only representative of early versions of the jets or unrealistic configurations.
-
Oh ok, well yeah I think we should have them optional in game if that's the case. I don't see how that would be unrealistic since the model is from 2005 to 2010. I know they probably make things safer from IR missiles but God are they ugly lol
-
Oh I see, Yeah I just hadn't noticed the upturned ones until ED released that teaser. They don't seem like they are integrated with any systems other then the cowling. Do all D models have them?
-
More images without them:

With: Without: Are you all sure They look pretty bolt on too me. Literally just a 90 degree duct.
-
Will they be removable in the ME like they are for the Mi-8/24?
-
Yeah well most people don't know what their doing. Wilbur81 does.
-
Absolutely not. First of all If your having to use the paddle switch during BFM at all, your not fighting the jet right. There is no realistic circumstance where that will help you win MORE then just fighting the jet to it strengths. So there's never a call for it in the first place. That's before we get into the repercussions of damaging the airframe or adding excess wear. And LOTs of people care if the jet breaks. The paddle switch just takes you to the COs office.

The other thing we need to talk about is an official map to go along with the module. I'm thinking it HAS to be western Europe. Specifically Germany with Rammstein is it's "centerpiece" airbase. This would allow real cold war scenarios and has the add benefit of conversion into a 1944 WW2 map with a bunch of place/period correct flyable assets already in game I love the F-15 it's prolly my favorite aircraft of all time, but we have to give ed credit where credit is due. The complexity of the hornet and viper are on another level. So naturally the F-15 doesn't have all the features and playability that those jets offer.
-
I mean it is more advanced but the F-5 of course but the F-5 was created from scratch a FF F-15C would have pretty large head start on development because of FC3. There's also playability, Really the only thing the F-15 offers from, a pure gameplay perspective, over the F-5E is BVR. The price, I think should reflect that. Your buying a fighter only, that you can strap bombs too, just like the F-5, or F-86 not a multirole or ground attack aircraft with a bunch of precision ordinance and sensors that need to modeled. All of which takes much more time and money for ED.
-
Let's switch gears for a second and talk about what ya'll would be willing to pay for DCS: F-15C Now in my mind, since it is in fact a pure fighter with only unguided weapons available I think the pricing should be in 60 dollar US range, similar to the F-5E with the possibility of say 10 bucks off if you own the FC3 version. For that I would expect a full fidelity module, overhauled textures for the external model and a new cockpit matching current DCS standards. And possibly the inclusion of CFTs as an option in the ME with the associate change in the FM. Now if they decide to give us two versions, which I think would be ideal, one cold war, and one ultra modern. I think the price should be around where the F-14 is or higher in 80 to 100 us dollar range. Since that would require the development of new weapons and systems such as HMD and the inclusion of sniper pod. How does that sound?
-
Well you can't compare 4th to 5th gen and honestly in ever other aspect other then low observables the eurofighter is a 5th gen platform. So yeah it's hands down better, specifically in kinematics. As far as sensors go, compared to other 4th gen fighters the current F-15Cs have AESA, IRST, and Link16 now. As well as a brand new EW suite among other things. So in that regard it's very competitive with other 4th gen aircraft and even some of the eurofighters stuff. The f-15ex even more so, With it's updated engines, and FBW. And yes The F-22 was way overqualified for the threat picture of it's time, and it still is in a lot of ways.
-
While I agree with your post, I wouldn't call the F-15C outdated just yet. Yes the airframe is old, but all of the tactical systems are pretty much state of the art. And the airframe itself really hasn't been beaten by any other 4 or 4+ gen fighter with the exception of the eurofighter and possibly the Su-35 in some areas, mainly in the close in BFM department, but it's still equal or better in BVR to both of those air sovereignty fighters which is the relevant metric. So with modern weapons and systems it's still a very credible threat to would be aggressors, that don't have fleets of 5th gen aircraft ready right now at this moment, not in development, not waiting for modern engines ect. ect. and it looks like it's gonna stay that way until the 2040s. Because that's most air forces today, that the F-15 might fight. It still is the mainstay for US air defense. It's no longer the best of the best, and will become less and less relevant as time goes on for sure. But when they designed it they went all out so to speak and it payed off IMO. It's still difficult and costly to build an aircraft with it's performance even today in 2021. Let alone a 5th generation equivalent.
-
Well it can still huck AMRAAMs really far with the CFTs on and that is the F-15C best trick too. And it still can be a handful in a dogfight, just not quite the nemesis the F-15C is. But I'll take the BVR stuff over agility, any day of the week. The latter is fun and nice to have, but the former is a game changer. F-15E with 120s will still completely dominate all the the other teens with the exception of the 15C. And obviously the red stuff in game is not comparable either. Really, the Eurofighter and F-15C should be the ONLY real challengers in the BVR department.

You can actually see the option in the wags video Right under (RWS in the thumbnail preview), when they first implemented ASPJ. But it never made it too our build.
