  1. Anyone have TacView files available from today 8 JUL? I think I was on between 1000-1200 EDT, and I just replayed my entire track file to get a TacView recording. Unfortunately, because server delay is 10 minutes, TacView doesn't get all the replay, and the last 10ish minutes in the track is what I wanted. On TacView, the time bracket I want is somewhere in the vicinity of 10:20 - 10:45 (not sure if this is local computer time - if so, that's EDT). I ended up getting lucky and bagging two Flankers and really want to see the furball from sat view - there were probably 3 friendlies and 2-3 enemies all merged (I think). It was awesome. And yes, I don't get enough victories in the F-5, so I want some vid to brag about when the trashtalk starts about the F-5 and MiG-21. :music_whistling: edit: NVM, got it sorted - trk file was a lot longer but it just cut off randomly the first playthrough.
  2. Nothing, if those two are working together perfectly. But a single bomber strike won't even close an entire FARP. The chopper will need to be able to clean up enemy troops AND cap the FARP/base. It's going to be very difficult to do. But having no players on one side at any time of day is not a mission design problem. It's a player problem. When someone joins and sees 10 Blue and 0 Red and then decides to join Blue, that's a player problem.
  3. That's odd - are you sure it wasn't friendly GCI setting green? If enemy is doing that, that's messed up. Some things are certainly exploits, but that crosses the line. Hopefully it gets fixed, kind of the like the all-seeing eye upon death problem. I'm sure Ciri and crew will get it figured.
  4. They can to different targets - should not be able to call 2 bombers into the same target at the same time.
  5. JTAC has never had problem spotting troops when I am on, but the base did not even close and troops did not even spawn. Drove JTAC and a SU25T all over the airfield - nothing shooting, no lasing/spotting, nada. Killed all the rando service vehicles as well. The airfield was completely wiped, and I even double checked the bunkers for spawns inside of themselves. Methinks the trigger needs to be checked.
  6. Blue currently trying to take Sukhumi - all targets down, JTAC on field cannot find any targets, standard troops in middle of runway. No trigger for closure working. approx. 0015 EDT on 7 JUL
  7. Well, I hesitate to report this, and I hope that this doesn't go away, but so you guys know: You can return lives for aircraft at FARPs. Took Oni FARP, after LGB strikes with the help of friendly neighborhood JTAC. Decided that I might as well try to return my life there so I could get back to Kutaisi faster. Landed on a 500m stretch of road (straight part of road past dogleg, just east of the helo pads), and taxied up to the pads. Low and behold, life returned, and some fuel donated to the FARP to boot. Was a damn good short field landing if I do say so myself... Now, maybe, could we possibly add rearm/refuel capability to the F-5 at road bases / FARPs? Might make me blue for life :D
  8. Cripes. Who cares guys? Sounds like we need to do some testing. I can help once I have internet tomorrow. Have someone popping in and out of mistrals and see if we can get a strong correlation to imply that is causing the issue. Doesnt seem difficult to check.
  9. Nice info. Thank you. Is there any tactics manual or one stop shop for F5 BFM reading? I'd like to start working on getting better at things like maintaining correct speed in one circle fight, what defensive maneuvers to use when at an energy disadvantage, etc. Would like some hard numbers, or at least rule of thumb figures specifically for the F5. I've been trying to make this my main ride in Blue Flag. It's a fun challenge.
  10. With all this music discussion, I am going to break out my Top Gun soundtrack LP and let the table take a few turns on the matter. Mp3s are nice and convenient with modern players, but nothing beats vinyl.
  11. Despite Top Gun being my favorite movie of all time, I would not pit it as the quintessence of the F-14.
  12. Fastest way to self-policing: "For every rude comment, we delay beta release by a day." And then it's beer and Skittles all around, until all the pent up comments flood out on beta release day +1.
  13. Of those available, the F5 is best suited to work on dogfighting. The gunsight is not a LCOS, and I find it easiest just to use the fixed pipper in missile mode or manual with 0 depression. Dogfighting is mostly about energy management, and the F5 doesn't have the great T/W ratio of the F15 or the ASC of the Su27, so you need to really get it right when maneuvering. Those other two hide a lot of mistakes with their advanced control schemes and more powerful engines. I'm by no means an expert, or even much good, but I've won a few fights in the F5 vs Flankers in the mountains. I'd be happy to do 1v1 F5 practice with you. My internet gets hooked back up on 6 July. I am usually on teamspeak: na1.mech-connect.net as Dino Might, evenings EST.
  14. Do you have any WWII modules? Learning will be quicker in those, in my opinion, because any bad habits are quickly brought to your attention, more so than a high T/W bird like the F15.
  15. As long as I don't have to stand EOOW doing multicrew on it. I remember playing a lot of Fast Attack, by Sierra Games. Great fun. If there ever was DCS: 688, it better be one of the old school first flight boats. None of this VLS and digital display nonsense. Mk48s, UGM84s, and Teams. Would be kind of fun to hit Anapa with a TLAM-D. Nah, make it a TLAM-N!
  16. Hey Peaches! Finally seeing your profile picture on here. You a submarine? Also, I second A10Cs at forward bases.
  17. Maybe it's just me, but I find the 109 the easiest of all the warbirds to land. The Spit, for me, is the toughest. As with all taildraggers, my trick is to fly it in, flare, and try to hold the mains just off the runway as long as possible. "Try to not land it." Now that the Spit is out, how have the opinions about the 109 changed?
  18. I'm starting to want all choppers to have bomber call capability. More choppers means more reasons to fly an F5 :)
  19. Shoot whoever fires at you. Have a hill to duck behind when shot at, then pop up beside your enemy and stab him in the kidney with a P5, or guns if you want extra bragging rights.
  20. He's talking about looking at the slots list when you select "choose slot." I was accused, rather vociferously, of exploiting that feature a couple nights ago when I shot down four helicopters attacking Oni FARP. Funny thing is, a Red Su25T had just attacked the FARP when I was flying my F-5, so I went over there after seeing the "Oni FARP is under attack" message. Shot down the Frogfoot, and then went helo hunting, because who attacks a FARP without a helo around? That's when my AIM9s discovered the Ka-50, and shortly thereafter, saw the two Mi8s sitting in the open on a nice patch of grass by the river. Oh the cursing that ensued, lol. It was a good day for the Tiger.
  21. I think parking hot start MiG-21s and F-5s would further serve this purpose. They would still need to load stores, taxi, and takeoff. This may be a bit too quick for the desired purpose; however, with cold start, I can almost get up in the same time with a F-15 (difference is very marginal).
  22. SH-60 would be great. My office mate happens to be a sierra pilot. Might get him into DCS, and could be a resource for development  Only question is, which version of the SH-60 would have enough systems info unclassified to make it?
  23. And because you are always going to be able to with tanks on the F-15, the Su27 should start with some fuel on board to even things out. Yes, they can rush off the apron and do the trademark Dino takeoff (taxiway, one gear in the grass, drag the tail), but half the time in previous rounds, when I was doing CAS, I purposely waited for that scrambling fighter and then lit off an AIM9 into his afterburner when he was 50 feet off the ground. Not that much of a problem. If an attacking force already has air superiority, the "scramble while they are overhead" is usually just a suicide by attacker. I'm glad we have fueling/aligning times. When I am on Red, however, I routinely do the landing gear trick with the Su27. Exploit? Yes. F-15 taking 20% and 3 bags is still faster, and it uses less fuel from the airbase. So, I simply see it as bringing things closer to even between the two aircraft. 0% fuel for F15 and 0% fuel for Su27 makes the F15 significantly faster to take off in almost all situations. Alpen, I totally understand where you are coming from with preferring classic East vs. West aircraft lineups, and I support this as well; however, when it comes to modifications within those plane sets on fuel loads, weapon restrictions, etc., I think we should be changing things to better balance the game. Agree that war is not balanced, but this is not war. We're not fighting for anything but fun here. And for a game to be successful, you want both sides to have a reasonable chance at winning. If either side is gimped from the start, they will have fewer players joining them and just get steamrolled over and over. That becomes boring for everyone.
  24. Debrief is as follows: Real men drive the F-5 F-5s shall be put on both sides (Red side painted black "MiG-28" scheme) so both sides can have real men. Anyone not driving the F-5 regularly will be put in a remedial training program to learn about how cool the F-5 is. Anyone voicing dissent with the above shall be put in a focused remediation program to fix their wayward thinking.
