  1. SH-60 would be great. My office mate happens to be a sierra pilot. Might get him into DCS, and could be a resource for development  Only question is, which version of the SH-60 would have enough systems info unclassified to make it?
  2. And because you are always going to be able to with tanks on the F-15, the Su27 should start with some fuel on board to even things out. Yes, they can rush off the apron and do the trademark Dino takeoff (taxiway, one gear in the grass, drag the tail), but half the time in previous rounds, when I was doing CAS, I purposely waited for that scrambling fighter and then lit off an AIM9 into his afterburner when he was 50 feet off the ground. Not that much of a problem. If an attacking force already has air superiority, the "scramble while they are overhead" is usually just a suicide by attacker. I'm glad we have fueling/aligning times. When I am on Red, however, I routinely do the landing gear trick with the Su27. Exploit? Yes. F-15 taking 20% and 3 bags is still faster, and it uses less fuel from the airbase. So, I simply see it as bringing things closer to even between the two aircraft. 0% fuel for F15 and 0% fuel for Su27 makes the F15 significantly faster to take off in almost all situations. Alpen, I totally understand where you are coming from with preferring classic East vs. West aircraft lineups, and I support this as well; however, when it comes to modifications within those plane sets on fuel loads, weapon restrictions, etc., I think we should be changing things to better balance the game. Agree that war is not balanced, but this is not war. We're not fighting for anything but fun here. And for a game to be successful, you want both sides to have a reasonable chance at winning. If either side is gimped from the start, they will have fewer players joining them and just get steamrolled over and over. That becomes boring for everyone.
  3. Debrief is as follows: Real men drive the F-5 F-5s shall be put on both sides (Red side painted black "MiG-28" scheme) so both sides can have real men. Anyone not driving the F-5 regularly will be put in a remedial training program to learn about how cool the F-5 is. Anyone voicing dissent with the above shall be put in a focused remediation program to fix their wayward thinking.
  4. Your team should be punished for stupid players. If you don't like dealing with that, join red. More new players join blue. As for me, I can scrounge enough fuel for an F5 most of the time, so whatever helps the numbers balance. I can say having flown both red and blue sides a lot, red is better coordinated on TeamSpeak. They are always talking objectives and filling in needed roles. Blue team is more about flying the aircraft you want to fly and seeing if you can be useful (and sometimes that answer is "no.")
  5. Ciribob, take note of how many are railing against what you are doing vs how many continue to play on your server. We love it. Some of us may get more vocal day to day, but I suspect even those who are angrily venting still continue to play BF because they like it. Thanks for info on Mirage. No fuel start should be good. Won't be a drastic change, which is good (want incremental adjustments to fine tune), but it will be in the right direction, in my opinion. I do think Red should get datalink. Sure the Su27s railed me last night, but that's because I suck. Whenever I fly the 27, I notice a distinct disadvantage in capability vs the F15 and Mirage. Russian missiles are pretty easy to dupe and the R27R flat out stinks. Need to make up for this with better SA.
  6. No longer causing crashes with selective jettison? I admit, I haven't tried it for months and always just emergency jettison all for now.
  7. Even with realistic fragmentation, you will still need a direct hit with Mk82 to kill a MBT. Even then, it's questionable whether you would do enough damage. You might score a f-kill or m-kill, but doubtful you will get a k-kill like we do in DCS.
  8. If M2k only on Blue side, then I vote for giving the MiG29s the ET. No ERs, no R77s. It's not a one-to-one equivalence, but it gives the MiG a strength the Mirage does not have, and gives the Mirage a (many) strength(s) the MiG does not have. Also, I think Mirage should start at 0% fuel while the MiG29 should start with at least 50% fuel (maybe higher). My ideal start cases would be the following (cold start unless otherwise noted): F-15C: 0% fuel, no stores loaded M2000: 0% fuel, no stores loaded Su-27: 30% fuel, no stores loaded MiG-29: 50% fuel, no stores loaded F-5: 100% fuel, Parking hot start, no stores loaded MiG-21: 100% fuel, Parking hot start, no stores loaded Viggen: 100% fuel, no stores loaded Su-25T: 100% fuel, no stores loaded A-10C: 100% fuel, no stores loaded Helos at airbases: Parking hot start, no stores loaded Helos at FARPs: Cold start, no stores loaded
  9. I'd probably be banned from most of those servers - taxiway takeoff is my SOP in Blue Flag. Hey, seconds count when that bomber is inbound on Gudata. OP, the 59th, Open Conflict, and Through the Inferno servers are all great. I've played on each and enjoyed them. They are all friendly to new players, and the best way to get into them is to join their public Teamspeak servers and group up with people who will help teach you what you want to know. Blue Flag is also a good server, even for new players. Understanding the setup and objectives takes a round or two, but you can hop on Simple Radio and/or Teamspeak and quickly be given tasking for what is needed ("go CAP and defend Sochi" for instance). With enough players, each side usually has a GCI to coordinate people doing different tasks. It's a lot of fun working with the team, and nobody can capture an objective all by himself, so your contributions to the team are always welcome. If you ever see Dino Might on Blue Flag, just give me a hollar and I'll help get you up to speed. I am flying blue side right now, but switch back and forth often, so if you have a particular side you prefer and get hold of me beforehand, I can join up on the side you choose.
  10. Set up the M2k with 0% fuel. Problem solved. Whatever you do, don't hurt scramble capability of F-5 and MiG-21. I really like that those fighters can get up in a hurry to go save a base. In fact, if they could start hot, I'd like that. I have seen more Red players in the MiG-21 lately, and they are beasts with GCI support (shot me down in the F-15 more than a few times). I really want to see more reasons to use F-5s and MiG-21s in Blue Flag.
  11. With the Mirage, it takes about as long for the radar to warm up as the alignment. You can fly without alignment (that you can align in air, while flailing about in the skies has to be a bug), just like you can fly without radar, but both states offer additional challenges. I don't see a problem currently with the Mirage other than it starting fully fueled. It should start at 0%, just like the F-15C and Su-27. I would further argue that the Su-27 should start with 20-30% fuel, because with the other two, you can slap on an external and not worry about filling the internal tank until liftoff.
  12. I'll probably wait the first few days on live to see which way the wind is blowing and then join the underdog team. I prefer a target rich environment. Even last night, flying 1 v 5 + GCI, I still had fun. Don't get me wrong, I got plenty frustrated when a MiG21 snuck up on me and stabbed me in the kidneys, TWICE! But I was definitely having fun and wanting to get into the fight to try and take on that challenge. Unfortunately, a lot of BLUFOR log on, see 13 v 2 numbers and just punch out. If they stayed on, we'd end up having even or better numbers (I saw at least 10 pop in then back out when they saw the scoreboard). By the way, I had an amazing fight last night with some of you. One of you bastages shot my F15 with an IR (I think) missile, killed my electronics (no radar, no HUD), but I kept in the fight and got one of your Su25Ts with a boresight sidewinder and ALMOST got the Su27 that I think shot me initially, but the boresight tone didn't stay locked long enough and I missed with the guns (guessing with no reticle). But I got away and headed to Batumi, which was under attack, and I killed the Mi8 and damaged the Ka-50 attacking before finally getting shot down. Huge fun!
  13. I think enabling AI CAP for the team with fewer numbers is a good way to go. I would keep it ground start, but start from parking hot. I don't like the idea of fighters spawning instantly in the air and shooting at your A-10 running CAS over a completely destroyed field, just like the SAMs do on repair. If there were a counter and the ratio was 2:1 or greater, with a minimum of 15 people online, then active CAP AI for the lower population side. You need a min player number so one team doesn't get CAP fighters when it's 2 vs 1 or 4 vs 2. Those numbers aren't a problem. It's 18 vs 3 that we are trying to curtail. Another option would be to have a third group to balance teams. I would happily just be a pilot for hire to whichever side has fewer players at any given time. Those of us in that group join the server and are automatically assigned at that time to the side with fewer players online. I would also get the luxury of being able to fly all the aircraft in a single round :) I don't care as much about the long-term campaign win as much as I do each encounter and trying to win the next objective, whichever side I'm on.
  14. F-5 is still my favorite module in the game right now. Everything about it just feels right.
  15. Both Mavericks and Refueling Probe would be amazing adds to the already current "best-in-game" aircraft (my opinion, of course). I understand the difficulties with both. Personally, I would prefer the AAR capability. It would be great if Belsimtek decided to add a second version of the F5 (similar to Polychop's various SA-342 models) and have an export AAR version. I'm not sure the additional sales would justify the work, though. At the very least, I'd be in for an additional copy to send to my dad (trying to get him started on DCS soon).
  16. People lost their marbles when a module was released early without a fully written manual. I don't know about you all, but I never even read the manuals. Explains why I'm such a crappy virtual pilot, but I probably take this game less seriously than I should. I would love to get my hands on the FA-18 in its current state. I don't care what is finished or finalized. I'd take something untextured that could only fly and do nothing else. But it seems many on here would rather wait based on past releases, which is perfectly fine, but definitely not in line with my thinking.
  17. I always bring JTACs now, because I don't know where any targets are; however, even with JTAC, when the troops move, smoke indicators are insufficient, unless they don't move very far. Use of anything except door gunners is excessively difficult. I think if troops were pre-deployed, within one of a number of specific areas, it would be a better setup. But JTAC still doesn't fix things for CAS when they are trying to clear a FARP before the helo has arrived.
  18. Recommend that some indication of repair time elapsed for each target is displayed in PAK intel. Can just put how much time elapsed since the repair countdown started (so there's still uncertainty if you want repair times to have a RNG distribution associated). I have, on numerous occasions now, gone to try and find the infantry to shoot up and had the whole FARP respawn to shoot me down before I could find the infantry. Also, the infantry either need to be present before FARP close, or they should be taken out. These guys are bloody annoying because you can't find them unless they are shooting you. If you're in a helo, that means you are probably getting shot down. If you are in a plane, well...good luck finding them at all, and continue circling until respawn of air defenses.
  19. Is spectator mode still a thing? Another potential bug report: Delivered fuel/repair crate to Sochi, which was 0% under blue control. Reported crate delivered, still 0%. Fuel bunkers were present, but did not appear to be part of any triggers. Enemy Mi8 landed troops and blue troops engaged (apparently the closed base defense had been activated some time previously, and maybe repair crates won't work when base defenders are out?).
  20. One unit position bug: Senaki airfield while controlled by blue side, one of the BUK launchers was on the runway when I landed there earlier today. I was in a rush and didn't get a screenshot, but if landing heading east, it was on the right side of the runway, about halfway down (mid-length).
  21. I'm loving the new setup. It's definitely still WIP, but the issues that need adjusting will get adjusting. It's not supposed to be finalized yet, so I don't understand the anger in some posts. Obviously point out the things that need changing, but this is part of the process of them developing the mission. Also, I've noticed a lot of our past recommendations being implemented. Some of them are good, and some have turned out to be not as good. But, again, the mission is being tweaked and will be some time before finalization. I think it's great they are taking lessons learned and recommendations from past rounds. This is shaping up to be the best round yet, in my opinion.
  22. Anyone able to land the P-51 successfully at a fuel base? I am so rusty on that thing that I have only managed to smash my landing gear each time I go to land. I do like the 51s as recon, but can we get one TF-51 and one P-51 fighter variant as recon, instead of two TF-51s? I imagine these will not be in high demand, and I'd much rather just have some machine guns, you know, in case I see an enemy helo I want to go battle.
  23. Also, will there be carrier motion in terms of pitch and roll? Or will the ships continue to run on rails? I actually prefer the latter for initial familiarization, but would really like to have a more detailed environment to incorporate ship motion in the long term.
  24. Sure looks like you need some more testers. Lucky for you, my services are available. Looks fantastic. I really enjoy seeing these updates. The screens look awesome, and I still watch some of the older videos. Out of curiosity, any screens or vids with the Phoenix yet? I'm sure I have not been attentive enough and probably missed some... Also curious on the RIO display. Excited to see what's in store for us.
