  1. I seem to recall the real Su-27 has no brake axis, it's just an on/off button. Might be wrong here but if my memory serves me right, that's why it doesn't have a brake axis in the game. The L-39, MiG-15 and MiG-21 do not have one IRL either to my knowledge, so there's that.. all those planes (including the Flanker) have it as a button on the back of the stick. FC3 still aims to realistically model hydraulics, physics (including flight model, engine model and whatnot) while providing easy to use systems. Hence, I wouldn't see a reason why they didn't add them to the Su-27. Braking shouldn't have anything to do with it being study sim or not.
  2. The above issue happened with 3D rendering turned off and all the settings turned to minimum. (it's running on a dedicated server) I've already invested quite some time into investigating the issue and, even tho I'm a software developer with a fair amount of knowledge about DCS' internals, all I could do was trace it down to a memory leak that has just started to occur. This issue has just surfaced and I didn't change any DCS settings since a while. I'm not the only one reporting this issue so I'm certain this is not just a "turn your settings down" kind of issue. As our server is one of the most populated we're getting a good amount of feedback by our players, which we regularly check. Reports about instability and lag have increased much recently.
  3. That's not the issue. I'm running a GTX 970, 16GB of RAM and an i7 2600k - that should be more than sufficient to run DCS at high settings. My frame rate is not giving me any trouble, it's the lag and MP stutters that is. Server is also choking every now and then and this all just started happening with the last update. Additionally, see here for another performance-related issue: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2801771#post2801771
  4. The whole flight model is unrealistic, just like with the Su-33. Stall behaviour, ground behaviour etc., while the Su-27 has all those modeled correctly (pretty much as close to reality as possible). Both, the MiG-29 and Su-33, will receive this treatment as well at some point.
  5. It's been getting worse with the latest update, keeping fingers crossed it's going to get better again on the next one... On the Virtual Aerobatics we're repeatedly seeing players getting dumped from the server, major lags and overall bad performance while it has been running well before the 1.5.3.53279.80 update. Also having RAM usage issues on my PC when playing in MP (although I pretty much exclusively play MP).
  6. We're not running much inside of the mission, pretty much all of the scripting is done using GameGUI-scripts. So far, we have not seen any scripting-related issues and the situation just started to get worse since the latest update. Since it's been running fairly well earlier, I suspect an issue with DCS here.
  7. That's not the VRAM leaking here, it's a memory leak in DCS (it's RAM here, they just call it Video memory). We are seeing a huge pagefile on the VA server currently (82GB) which is very possibly caused by DCS. The Windows task manager shows a 114GB of commited RAM. The DCS server seems to be running bad as well due to that, lagging seems to have increased. Edit: I shall add that we're running DCS on the latest version, 1.5.3.53279.80.
  8. It happens regardless whether you have TrackIR or not.
  9. For me it only ever affected the Mirage (playing MP only) so far. I've refueled every plane that's capable to do so and the tanker only speeds up for the Mirage, regardless of which tanker it is. Tried with Il-78, S-3B and KC-135, result was always the same. Hearing similar results from other people.

  11. Try it in the Su-27 for example, there the contrail is gone when the engine is on idle or shut down.
  12. The moment you have to think about your taxi speed, you're too fast.. at least in the real world. :) Most planes can't read low speeds. It's not about a faulty or unreliable sensor but rather about the way it gets your speed.
  13. So I've already noticed this since a few updates now.. it's an issue that definitely surfaced just some time ago. I was playing on MP while carrying some cargo and my helicopter suddenly exploded mid-air. Thinking DCS was just being a little weird I tried it again, it worked fine. Later that day I went on to do some sling loading again and - hey - my chopper exploded once again. This happened many times to me now and it's not only been me. I've seen various reports about this on both of the VA servers (Caucasus version 1.5.3.52724.74 and a few former versions, Nevada version 2.0.2.52658.72). Now a thing I've noticed is that the explosion happens when you run into lag. I had some player watching me and he told me I exploded right after he saw me lagging as slight bit, all I noticed was an explosion however. Another thing that can happen is that the Huey suddenly catches on fire and quickly disintegrates until it eventually explodes. This issue only happened to me on the Huey so far. Mi-8 and Ka-50 were able to sling load just fine.
  14. While I used to fly everything (helicopters, props, jets) with my twist stick for a long time, the difference with having rudder pedals can be immense. I was fine with twist stick but now I wouldn't want to go back, ever. I'm using the T-Flight Hotas since about 6 or 7 years now and I've been really happy with what I got for the money and I can definitely assure you you won't regret getting it. At some point you will want a better one, just as I pursue getting a Warthog now, but for the beginning it is more than enough. Don't having any experience with the Saitek products. On some online servers you can spectate players but most servers (especially the combat ones) forbid spectating. Overall, don't worry about joining some MP session. Usually people are friendly - and even if they're not, then just don't mind them. I'm flying MP almost exclusively and I enjoy it ever since. :)
  15. Wäre auch interessiert, an beidem zusammen.
  16. 1.5 Open Beta and Stable are compatible to each other at this moment. Most players run the Stable branch, although you can (currently) play on Stable servers using the Open Beta build.
  17. We're not seeing any trouble on the VA. I myself have been running the openbeta for a while now, connecting to the server which is running on the stable branch. Apart from the usual lag/desync issues there shouldn't be any trouble. As far as I know they're able to connect since the network procotol hasn't changed between the versions - I might be wrong though. If that's the case an open beta player on a stable server should (anything can happen..) not cause any trouble. Currently there is no way to prevent this, perhaps the coming integrity check will handle it, if even intended.
  18. Gotta jump onto the train and promote our Virtual Aerobatics NTTR server. In case you're also interested in formation practice, aerobatics and free-flight in a friendly non-combat environment, we'd love to see you around on the Virtual Aerobatics server. We are running servers for both maps simultaneously 24/7. Also stay tuned for coming updates, got some fun stuff up the sleeve. :) A TeamSpeak 3 server is running on ts3.virtual-aerobatics.com and our website is available on http://virtual-aerobatics.com/. Server is based in Canada, so pings from US should be fairly low. I'm from Europe and basically never exceeding 150ms. Have fun!
  19. That's because NTTR still requires a second DCS install and a NTTR server requires a separate license key for the map.. hopefully changes with the release of 2.5.
  20. What do I see mounted underneath it? I figure it might be some recon stuff.
  21. The AI is not using the same damage model as client aircraft do. It uses the SFM which is nowhere as good as the PFM. Sure it shouldn't fly like that with one wing but this specific issue is restricted to AI only. I find it rather difficult to precisely maneuver when a wing is missing.. and I'm pretty sure this applies to every player.

    Pilot in DCS

Das "löst" lediglich deine Kamera von ihrem Punkt im Cockpit, so dass man sie frei positionieren kann. Aussteigen des Piloten (bis auf Strg+3x E) ist bisher nicht möglich.
