I started making a quick training mission last night out of Batumi with 2 mig21 armed in the 'medium patrol' configuration and launching as a patrol out of Sochi. They shot down my awacs and then murdered me about 2 minutes after that. Looks like more training is required.

VAICOM 2.0 for VoiceAttack
FeistyLemur replied to Hollywood_315's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Figured it out. Switched to the Mig 15 profile which copes with the Ralt function. The PTT mic switch button can't cope with the 00.050 second delay however in the F5. It flicks so fast the menu doesn't appear, and instead of commands you get view changes. Increased delay of the command to 00.150 seconds and it works. This is for Process Management > _Menu_Execute > "Else press Right alt" Increased press duration to 00.150 -
VAICOM 2.0 for VoiceAttack
FeistyLemur replied to Hollywood_315's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I've tried to adapt the mig21 profile for the F5. It nearly works. I even added some commands for the ground compressed air application and chocks which work well. The only part I haven't been able to get right is radio selection. The F5 has a UHF radio and it works on the ground but once you get it in the air it needs to use RAlt \ instead of just \ to activate comms. Which doesn't work right. So I haven't really figured out how to fix that yet. -
I didn't think I'd see a module that's just as much of a joy to take up the plane and fly as my favorite, the mig21, but this is fantastic. What a nimble easy to fly little plane. I'm really surprised this is this good in early access. I especially like how comprehensive and well organized the keybindings are. I was able to set up my warthog to work beautifully with autohotkey and the layout of it works really well for this plane. Now I just need voice attack going and and everything is perfect.

I just got in my first dogfight in my mig21 vs the f5 in multiplayer, and it was amazing. So glad there's a competitor for the 21 now. This has been the most fun I've ever had in the mig21, I love it. That and the info in here was enough for me, decided to go ahead and get it now.

Flaps and Landing gear solutions
FeistyLemur replied to ebabil's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Build a toggle switch panel with 2 and 3 way toggles. This makes a good multi purpose sim solution. You could look into Leo Bodnar boards as well for this. Here's a picture of mine cause I never miss an opportunity to show it off. -
Only one small issue. https://www.amazon.com/Mikoyan-MiG-21-Famous-Russian-Aircraft/dp/1857802578 5 Available used from $995

I haven't been playing for a while, and I was surprised to see the tiger is available already. So this begs the question, how's the early access going? Is it pretty playable? It's a foregone conclusion that I'll get this plane pretty much because I'm super excited for mig21 v f5, but I'm just curious how far along it is.

New Thrustmaster gear coming soon
FeistyLemur replied to gillers's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well, you know if you want a good ship sim you're going to have to get your kids in the basement with the engine controls and set up an engine order telegraph. -
I see they didn't fix one of the most obvious complaints in the review i saw, the DMS switch being so high it makes reaching the hat switch hard.

I just got some superlube to try. So far I've tried Tamiya ceragrease, Molykote EML30, and the superlube. I haven't decided if I like the superlube just yet. It's more tacky than the Molykote and clear. It feels almost a little like clear silicone but slippery. It adheres more than the Molykote which doesn't seem to last very long in the Warthog stick before constantly needing reapplication. Tamiya grease was good, but very expensive as well. I'm keen on trying out this Nyogel 767A now that I'm hearing about it.

VAICOM 2.0 for VoiceAttack

Well, I've gotten around to trying JTAC, it seems like a total crapshoot, I can't figure out how to get it to recognize anything. Once in a while i can fluke off a command but its mostly unrecognized commands. -
I dunno, if I was going to go to the trouble of making a full sim cockpit I'd strongly consider paying 2.5k for their stuff.

Will the TM Warthog go out of production?
FeistyLemur replied to guitarxe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If VKB successfully brings more sticks to market, you might even find there are used warthogs to buy should you still want a warthog specifically. Then again they sell a warthog adapter so that might not be the case if people hold on to them to be able to use the grip. Who knows what will happen as manufacturing becomes easier for the average person to achieve and 3d printing / metal printing becomes more common. It's at the point where you can buy a really decent CNC mill for under 10k dollars I'm looking forward to the day I can buy my own cnc mill and just make my own stuff. -
Wow, so what do they charge for those things?
-
I wouldn't sweat that. The warthog is a stick you'll eventually take apart half a dozen times. Regrease, repair, modify to get the most out of it. Think of it as character. It's a tinkerers stick. I call it the grease hog.

Ok that video looked pretty awesome even for someone who is skeptical about vr and motion control.

Joystick "Black Mamba" from VKB FSC Europe
FeistyLemur replied to Flagrum's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Anyone who's used both a warthog and the new cam style mamba have any feedback on it? How good does the new gimbal feel? I'm hoping I can get catch the gunfighter order when it happens so I'm curious about this gimbal. -
TM Warthog Keybinds For 3 and 2 Position Switches
FeistyLemur replied to Colseg's topic in MiG-21Bis
Use one of the 3 pos switches on the warthog and it should work. I used to use the lua method with the flaps switch on the WH throttle and it worked with "alternate flaps". It's really easy to set up in autohotkey and works great if you can't get it working through the .lua -
I'm happy buying from niche manufacturers like Milan. I just wish it was possible to buy a mamba. Buying from Milan is easy and problem free. There's a small wait but he's always taking orders. If these things were attainable I'd order one in an instant. I'm really sad I missed the November preorder of the last bunch. If they can sell for a profit per unit though, and sell 50k units like the warthog, then why not do it? I'd have to think they could make something like the mamba gimbal that sells at a profit and sell that many of them. There are more games than there have been in a long time that take advantage of a stick thanks to the likes of elite dangerous and star citizen creating an interest.

Tell the truth now, you want to deal with someone blocking the taxiway don't you? -
Doesn't really lend well to the creative process though like it would if you could metal print at home. Like if you wanted to build a whole stick and gimbal out of many parts and screw around with some trial and error, ordering parts from shapeways would be kind of time consuming. It would be ideal to be a machinist with access to all the tools but then we're not all machinists at the end of the day.
-
This is really a shame because I like that sukhoi style grip and was pretty keen on some day getting one of those. I can't wait for 3d metal printing to advance to the point where the home user can have affordable high resolution 3d metal printing. At least I hope it happens before I die.

Don't forget to wear goggles. Your eyes are going to dry out otherwise.
