We will probably not see anything about this bird until DCSW 2.5 is released.

MIG-15 cockpit gauges (Ikarus profile)
BravoYankee4 replied to BravoYankee4's topic in DCS: MiG-15bis
There are a few more things I want to add, but then you can get it. -
Just did a test print with ABS - the short conclusion is that I will never try again :music_whistling: Thanks for the link Lobinjaevel, I will check it out.

Yeay, I'm in the K8400 club as well now :) Got a deak I couldn't refuse, buying a already assembled and calibrated unit from a person that moved on to a better machine. Have just made a few test prints and still learning all the 3D printing mumbo-jumbo magic. But this thing got some potential, if not for simulator it will be used for toy repairs... By the way, where do you buy your filaments? I assume that you are using PLA, since I can't really find any examples of good results of ABS print with this machine. Accidently bought a sample pack with ABS filament, so I will try it and see if it is as bad as everyone claims on Youtube.

Just chiming in... adding or removing waypoints manually in flight will probably be a bit daunting as in a lot of buttons to push entering 6 digits lat/longitude data etc. But doable :) One little detail that probably was unique for it's time is that the navigation system was interacting with the fuel gauge - so one needle indicating remaining fuel and one indicating needed fuel, for the remaining waypoints and landing. There is also a special nav mode for landing and all airbases are in the system, and as far as I know there was (mobile) nav aids for temporary road bases that could be used. There are also previous posts about radar reflectors at known locations for manual updates of the navigation system. Hopefully this is also included in the simulation since it was a common procedure and a big part of navigating this bird.

Ah, sorry. I haven't updated the links on my job computer.

Can't recall if it was M.A.C.H 3 in the arcades or Gunship (tape version) on the Commodore C64.

If there isn't any HUD only view for your specific module, you can do one by your self. I recommend that you read through this document: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/214771/ It might be a bit overwhelming at first, but you need to do some tests and finally you will understand and then you can pretty much whatever you want to (as long as your hardware has the power).

Both the RSBN and PRGM channel selectors are rotary encoders. RSBN ChannelMiG-21Bis/RSBN_CHAN Input Interface: fixed_step Message: RSBN_CHAN <DEC|INC> Description: switch to previous or next stateDcsBios::RotaryEncoder rsbnChan("RSBN_CHAN", "DEC", "INC", PIN_A, PIN_B); Input Interface: set_state Message: RSBN_CHAN <new_value> Value Range: 0 ... 99 Description: set position Output Type: integer Address: 0x2218 Mask: 0x3f80 Shift By: 7 Max. Value: 99 Description: selector positionif (address == 0x2218) { unsigned int rsbnChanValue = (value & 0x3f80) >> 7; /* your code here */ } By the way, we are a lot of Swedes here that has great interest and a lot of knowledge about the Viggen. So I'm sure that the community will assist putting a DCS-Bios profile together and have the functionality verified :)

MIG-15 cockpit gauges (Ikarus profile)
BravoYankee4 replied to BravoYankee4's topic in DCS: MiG-15bis
Yes, my bad. Of course I should have provided more details. Ikarus is a simpit software that displays instruments and lamps etc. on a second monitor or second computer, pretty similar to what Helios does. It is currently still in the Beta phase, but hopefully there will be a final release soon. I’m not associated with the developers, but have contributed to the beta testing. Ikarus is the successor to the HawgTouch software, but with some additional features. Unlike Helios almost every module has native support and the software is active and developed as we speak. So my point was that it is possible to have exported instruments and that it is indeed possible to do awesome cockpits with the new features. As a reference I have attached a picture of a plain cockpit with no frames, background or overlays for your comparison. -
Not claiming to be the new Capt Z, but since there isn't anything out there for the old MIG I started to do my own. Very much work in progress, so no need to state the obvious with more or less rude comments. The purpose of this post is more a hint of what is possible to do with the Ikarus software as a promotion. Heinz is doing a great job, and the current beta version is a 0.986. Perhaps there will be a completed version of this MIG-15 profile and perhaps I will share it then, if it ever gets completed and with a quality good enough.

Simply amazing. A big surround screen and some projectors would make it even more awesome :)

At 13:45 you can also see the launch of a RB05 missile and how the pilot moves the right hand from the control stick to the missile controls. You can also clearly see the flare in the back of the missile that was used by the pilot to guide the missile towards the target.

Multi-monitor set-up guide & help (unofficial)
BravoYankee4 replied to MadTommy's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
Another comment, doesn't it take a huge fps loss to have three viewports for the spanned screen instead of one (that is wider)? Perhaps it has to be like this in order to use the warp software...? If so, ignore my comment. -
I was on the ground with a blue helmet some years before that (94/95), and then we occasionally had some american F-16’s in the air, supposedly to act as CAS. For that we had a Danish (Nato) FAC in the battalion. Once when we tried to get support we realized that the UN administration wasn’t really up to the task of a prompt chain of command. It was a long chain of approval that ultimately had to go all the way to New York, so you could imagine that if we ever got a “GO” a couple of hours later the situation had changed anyway and the F-16’s back at their base a long time ago. After that we made sure to have the Danish Leopards nearby and they came to some good use now and then

And if there would be an F-117 module as well, I would get the CA module and play Zoltan Dani :music_whistling:

This reminds me about us looting a scrapped MIG-21 at the Tuzla (Bosnia) airbase back in the mid nineties. The ejection seat made a great contribution to our camp interiors :) Additional to the real life scenarios there is one "what if scenario" that I would build in the ME, is to have Viggens supporting Swedish UN troops. That is one thing that we on the ground would have appreciated very much. Not that unrealistic eihter, since we did just that during the Kongo crisis.
-
Well, I interpreted this as there are new visual features developed for the Viggen or Tomcat, that can be re-used in order to update the current visual effects on the MIG. And since there has been hints about new visual features for the Viggen I still consider my theory valid. Like in a new CRT renderer/shader for the radar scope or the HUD.
-
Perhaps something related to the Viggen CI & SI visuals? :)
-
Why did they do that?:chair: Anyway, thanks for trying to fix it. I'll see if I can get my MIG panels connected again and see if they messed that up as well.

That's no relic, my A-10 Tank killer Amiga game is :)
-
My prime suspect would be the export.lua file.

That is one of the really cool things with a simulator, that you could try those "what if" scenarios. By the way, it isn't that long ago a little Swedish submarine scared the shits out of some carrier strike group commanders outside the San Diego coast. It would be fun trying to sneak in flying really low with a couple of Viggens as well :)
