Great ides from SUNTSAGA. There is however other way to achieve the same - use the custom snap views: http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/Snap_views Or edit the Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\View\SnapViews.lua - if you don't have it, create any snap view using method described in wiki link. Next, open the file, find section for Spitfire SnapViews["SpitfireLFMkIX"] and change x_trans and y_trans values at index 13: [13] = {--default view viewAngle = //don't copy this line, it can be used to set FOV (default zoom) hAngle = 0.000000, vAngle = 0.000000, x_trans = 0.075, y_trans = 0.030, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, This way there will be no issues with IC as also no need to restore changes after the update as the original module is untouched. I'm not posting the SnapViews.lua here as this file stores personal preferences and using it would potentially overwrite them.

Normandy, where did you find that? Now the hype train is going to sky rocket.
-
 Then it's pretty much confirmed. Kind of an "unintentional" leak - on official ED YT channel :smilewink:

Or the "big" news is Normandy or could be also any big news themself :D Cobra has mentioned that they want to give Spit some space. I guess it might be pre-purchase announced.

Engine primed even though the fuel lever is off
firmek replied to Redglyph's topic in Bugs and Problems
I might be taking too far going assumption but looking on the diagram (page 81) it seems that the wooble pump (15) is bypassing the main cut-off valve in a way that it is taking the fuel before it and feeding the fuel line after it. EDIT: I think it's actually described this way in manual: -
I guess the rear tank is not modeled atm. The manual also mentions that due to severe stability issues the rear tank was only installed on some of the versions (clipped wing?) and filled only when an external fuel tank was attached. Probably it'll come in the future but still we shouldn't expect anything more than a slider. The standard procedure would be to fuel the front tanks first and rear one afterwards. With slider this would be that if rear tanks are installed, everything above certain % of the fuel would go into rear tanks. In either case the bottom tanks were fed from the top ones.

Engine primed even though the fuel lever is off
firmek replied to Redglyph's topic in Bugs and Problems
There is a similar topic. It looks like it works as it supposed to: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=179467 -
If I got it correctly from the fuel system diagram, both priming and wobble pumps are connected before the cut-off valve. In other words it looks like it should be possible to prime the engine and run it all the time by manually creating fuel pressure with wobble pump while the main cut off valve is set to off.

Not a big issue. The main functionality works. Great tool by the way. Thank you and wish you a Merry Christmas

Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck
firmek replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I don't know what is the history. Long story short, the files are just a configuration of what DCS is doing, with a difference that for every single module in DCS there is a different setup of shoulder size, eye point (neck length), max/min zoom as also few other things. The benefit of using Server.lua stored in user files is that you're getting the same configuration of mentioned things for every single module. Additionally with proper synchronization of FOV and max zoom values between Server.lua and SnapViews.lua it's possible to get rid of annoying zoom-out effect when entering the cockpit. As for SnapViews.lua I'm editing it to make sure that every single module has the same default field of view (zoom). This file is really optional, actually it may be better to edit your own rather than using attached one - the instruction is in one of the posts somewhere above. -
1. Delete all custom profiles in KB under "options\kneeboard settings", close KB. 2. Run DCS repair 3. Don't change any settings under "options\kneeboard settings", including map position. Than IC should be fine while it's still possible to use all of the other features of KB, specifically managing the content of the kneeboards.

If you're interested I've uploaded an updated version of Server.lua supporting Mi-8 gunners (engi and nav are also working) and Spitfire.

Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck
firmek replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Updated with Spitfire and latest changes (gunners) for Mi-8. Server.lua SnapViews.lua -
I have to take it back as KB started to cause IC failure. The good news is that it seems to be isolated to editing the kneeboard settings (position, colors, etc) - options=>kneeboard settings. I've deleted all of custom kneeboard profiles in KB, run the repair and everything seems to be working fine, including all of the kneeboards created with "create custom kneeboard" function.

Server.lua is a part of "proper neck" "mod". Actually it's not really a mod but rather a way for user view configuration. You must have had an quite old version of it. Note that if you've removed the Server.lua and SnapViews.lua, all of your modules will come back to default view settings - head position, angles, field of view, shoulder size, neck size, max/min zoom. Although with removed Server.lua every module will use it's own, different size of the neck, shoulders and min/max zoom, try bringing back SnapViews.lua file as there is a good chance it wasn't causing the problem. Thanks to this you'll restore back your own settings for head position, default view angle and field of view. The "mod" is located here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=96116&page=22 - it's not updated though with the latest changes for Mi-8 gunners or Spitfire.

Cockpit textures change depending on View position
firmek replied to razo+r's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yeap, not rly a bug. Just a way how mipmaps are working: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mipmap - multiple textures usually representing the same but in different resolution applied depending on the distance/FOV. -
Also refuel doesn't seem to work correctly. Ground crew always refuels to 83% - even if asked for 100%.

It's already reported: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=179246

Or because if it had Spit or Mustang on its six it was a lost cause anyway. Better to have a quick death than hopelessly watching it coming and claiming its prey  On the topic of the fuel gage. I guess it wasn't a real issue to hit that button. Another point is a part of the fuel gage I guess the same as maybe not even more important was keeping a track on the time of the flight.

Or it was what was technically possible/cost efficient 75 years ago :)
-
A prime example from WW2 era. Tiger 1 was much better technically than T-34. Well, soviets managed to build almost 85k of T-34 while nazis struggled to arrive with less than 1.5k. In overall perspective T-34 was much superior design. Without a context of what was the role, how it was fulfilled, timeline, ability to develop the construction, maintenance, cost per unit, etc.. comparing technical performance 1-1 is maybe interesting but only from theoretical perspective. This goes without mentioning that putting aside a mid-war and end of ww2 era constructions is apples and oranges.

Just make sure to pause TrackIR and hit Num5 to center the view before adjusting and saving default view - otherwise you're risking to have it off center.

As a general rule, use the dead zone only when having hardware issues - for instance stick giving false input when in central position. Otherwise, if equipment is fine no dead zone. As for curves, I generally find them bad for building up the muscle memory in longer time perspective. Only apply them when necessary. 0 at stick, 15 on the rudder as atm in Spit rudder is extremely sensitive - with 0 on rudder just slightly touching the pedals during turn was applying too much ruder for coordinated turns.

The discussion about specific performance values is interesting as the DCS is putting a lot of attention to bringing a detail representation of real planes. On the other hand while so much attention is being put into detailed modeling of the planes the environment, especially the MP one has almost nothing to do with reality. Hopefully this'll improve with the release of Normandy and intruduction of bombers.
