  1. Get A10 if you dont have it. Keep flying Huey untill you get borred with helicopters and feal like trying something else for a change. After flying A10 and when wanting to get back to helicopters get Mi-8. One thing to consider is that rotor in Huey and Mi8 turn in opposite direction. In result "rudder" and cyclick have to be countered in opposite side which makes switching betwen those helicopters confusing at the begining.
  2. :D In next week, 5783 episode: "The Community expectations hype train sky-rockets after few weeks without updates. Someone writes: "Since ED has closed their doors for such a long time, it must be the 2.5 release that they are cooking"". Stay tuned.
  3. Mi-24 is already under development, Cobra if I recall correctly also or at least planned. Nothing about AH-64. Though probably there would be more more incentive and a chance for wider interest if the transport heli capaple of equipping some armamemnt rather than one that can take it provided that it is loaded into its cargo bay :) Pretty much like Huey or Hip today.
  4. I would say that monitors for photography, DTP etc.. are tailored towards different characteristics than gaming monitors. In result you would pay additionally for not so needed features like as best as possible color reproduction while miss some other esential - short responce time, limited ghosting, higher refresh rate, adaptive sync technology.
  5. He has it in his DNA :). His grand grand father was nick-named "banana" :) But seriously, due to unique, 2-rotor design Chinook would most probably require additional physics modeling. Other, conventional helicopters are probably less challenging to develop. Something that should be considered. Even with all of the positive feedback about interest in heavy lifters, transport helicopters are still not the main stream modules.

Guys... I could imagine that in few posts we'll see a request for DCS Silent Hunter DLC :)
  7. Thank you!!! For all of the hard work to bring a new concept and second for all of the work done so far as also now to menage transition to a new server. Well, it's rather clear from the message that it's the next BF.
  8. Great teaser. But viggen cockpit and its radar screen... :music_whistling:

Fully agree. The module has to bring much more to the table than just aesthetics and nice 3D model.
  10. As much I would love to see the CH-53 or UH-60, EC725/H225M (but not so much CH-47 or any other successor of Piasecki's flying banana) the question is what would be their application in DCS. Today missions are designed in away that Mi-8 capability to lift higher weights and take more soldiers on board does not matter compared to Huey. To justify the heavy lifters, first there should be a content and backbone in DCS that would allow to benefit from their increased size and provide applications which would bring more tasks than only flying the module.
  11. PNG also works. It's a good idea to use it for text pages as it does not blure the image as jpeg does.
  12. There are two possible issues that come to my mind after watching the video: - track ir device is loosing the LED track or incorrectly tracking when you're moving your head up. Check the real and calculated position in the tracker software. Try to increase the curves sensitivity. - you're reaching maximum head pitch up angle according to DCS F-15 cockpit configuration. Check if you're running into the same problem with another aircraft. Adjust curves at the further deflection positions decreasing sensitivity so that the head in cockpit is not being pushed above it's maximum vertical boundaries. Please also change the topic. It is misleading as the "TrackIR" is the name of the NaturalPoint head tracking device.
  13. My guess would be that the main focus at the moment is on 2.5 with updated Caucasus plus WWII map/units and aircraft modules. Might be that we'll see some of those starting to be released this year. F-18C and Hormuz afterwards, possibly somewhere next year, optimistically during first half of it.
  14. NO ZOOM EFFECT WHEN ENTERING COKPIT - FIX!!! I've found a fix/workaround allowing to get rid of the zoom effect when spawning in the cockpit. There is one side effect which is that zooming out more than the default view is no longer possible. Zoom-in is not affected, it gets actually more precise as now the whole slider travel length is dedicated for zooming-in. The solution can be done by everyone: 1. Make sure that the default FOV set in user SnapViews is the same for all aircrafts (index [13], viewAngle value). The value can be set according to personal preferences. 2. Set the same value as the maximum allowed FOV - gCameraViewAngleLimits value in Server.lua. For convenience I've attached an updated version of the files: - HD: for 16:9, HD monitors - 90° FOV - WS: for 21:9, widescreen monitors - 107° FOV. Tested with 3440x1440 resolution. To change the FOV value to any other preferred one just run replace all "viewAngle = 90.000000" or "viewAngle = 107.000000". - MPZoom - FOV is calibrated in a way that middle position equals default FOV. It's done to match the middle detent on the TM Warthog throttle slider. This version does not fix the zoom out effect when entering the cockpit. - NoZoom - max FOV is same as default FOV, removes the zoom-out effect. It's recommended that the configuration is used by simmers knowing how to modify the view configurations. Installation: 1. Backup your original files! 2. Remove prefixes 3. copy "SnapViews.lua" and "Server.lua" to DCS folder, Config\View in user SavedGames: - 2.x alpha - C:\Users\@user_name\Saved Games\DCS.openalpha\Config\View - 1.5.x beta - C:\Users\@user_name\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\View Aircrafts included are listed below. Since I don't have/fly all of them those that are tested in 1.5 beta and 2.0 are marked with bold: A-10A A-10C F-15C Hawk Ka-50 MiG-29A MiG-29G MiG-29S P-51D TF-51D Su-25 Su-25T Su-25TM Su-27 Su-33 Mi-8MT UH-1H C-101EB M-2000C MiG-21Bis MiG-15bis F-86F Sabre HD - SnapViews.lua HD-MPZoom - Server.lua HD-NoZoom - Server.lua WS - SnapViews.lua WS-MPZoom - Server.lua WS-NoZoom - Server.lua
  15. Today the hype train left the station quite early, just about the afternoon :) It's just a matter of time till its schedule will be moved to mornings and Thursdays in longer time perspective:)
  16. Fine, but then Bluefor is getting this:
  17. Feedback like this: Note that it hasn't been stated clearly what is the current status.
  18. As far as DCS is considered there are multiple threads stating that DCS does not benefit from SLI.
  19. Yes, but it's too vague to draw conclusions - was the goal only a prototyping or a intention to build a full module, is the project status - active, on hold or canceled?
  20. I've seen those but there is no concreate confirmation behind. Actually opposite, conclusions are being drawn based on "confirmation bias". The information that was posted tells only that someone has made an extremely early version of a mesh. Thats all. There are no facts to conclude that the project is still active and the work is being carried out or at least planned for the future.
  21. No you aren't  There is no reason for having intel and specifically kill confirmation messages. Contrary, there are reasons for not having them.
  22. So, after 3 pages and almost 80 posts there is no answer to the question if RAZBAM is working on the Tornado.
  23. I wouldn't worry specifically about the DCS 2.0. Just build a new PC suitable for gaming with the latest titles according to your budget. Only thing to consider more specifically for DCS would be getting at least 16GB RAM.
  24. Get the Mi-8. Reasons? 1. It is challenging to fly but not hysterically overwhelming. Yes, the beginnings will be tough however making progress with it is extremely satisfying. Just as flying it due to the fantastic flight model. It is a module that you can fly for hours without firing a single bullet while still experiencing "just few more minutes" syndrome. The most difficult part is probably the landing - when Mi-8 gets into vertex ring state it falls from sky like a rock. Apart of that it's stable which makes it a bit easier (but still challenging) to fly. Other big plus is its high speed - which to some extend makes the long flights in MP or/and Blue Flag much more bearable. Last but not least it has a quite good stock campaign. EDIT: One other important point. Since the question is about the heli to start with, another reason for Mi-8 is that it has wheals. This allows to learn much better how to keep the heli neutral while on the ground - just before the take off as also while landing. 2. UH-1H. Not stable, hard to fly almost all of the time. It's a great module but I would not recommend to start with it. Also compared to Mi-8 it lacks speed, power and can carry less ordinance. The nice thing though are the AI gunners. 3. Ka-50. Compared to other it almost feels like it flies on rails. It's not a module that engages with just flying it. Neither it will not bring the experience of learning the theory and practicing a flight of conventional helicopter. Then the autopilot system... lets say that the story could be that it's designers deemed few MiG-21 radars nonoperational. Saying it straight it's boring to fly but it fully compensates it with capability to employ weapons, tactics and it's power on the battlefield. 4. Gazelle. I don't own it but reading in multiple reviews how twitchy it is probably it's not the best choice to start with.
  25. 4K is extremely demanding. GTX 1080 benchmarks show that it can run new titles at 4K resolution in highest settings with 30-40 FPS. To get a good 4K performance two GTX 1080 and a SLI compatible title would be required and as we know DCS does not handle SLI too well. When it comes for sim high horizontal FOV is extreamly helpfull. At the moment with a single monitor there is nothing better than a widescreen. 3440x1440 resolution horizontally is close to 2 FullHD monitors side by side while vertically it's sliglty more. If only budget allows I can recomend Acer x34 (or Asus PG348Q): + 34'', 3440x1440, G-SYNC, IPS, 100 Hz refresh - price, big stand, Acer - shakes even on relativelly stable desk
