  1. Just use any of the free online pdf to png conventers. PNG is better as JPEG is less suitable for text. Next copy selected images to the "C:\Users\@YourUserName\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Kneeboard\@ModuleName" for 1.5.x or "DCS.openalhpa" for 2.0.
  2. Much appreciated . Just take the necessary time to polish the module and keep everyone updated. It's always better and fair and communicate that some more fine tuning is required than keeping people in the dark which always creates unnecessary noise. Especially that it looks that Viggen managed to turn on a lot of people which may not have been so much into it from the very beggining :) Good luck tomorrow splashing 21s
  3. My bet would be 2.0x being aligned with latest changes from 1.5.x. Then 1.5.x release with Spit next week, maybe also with Viggen. Lets see. Either way DCS is bringing some great stuff for Christmas
  4. C'mon, lets stay pragmatic. Snow +15 deg could happen but it's not exactly the most common situation. As for the flight plan leading through a no fly zone I remember it also struck me when flying the campaign. Those are not a big issues, just a small "oddities". Something probably easy to fix. None is bashing on a campaign because of them but let's not try to twist the things around and say that users are lacking imagination. If my memory serves me right this might be the case. I flew the campaign some long time ago and can't remember any snow there. Actuallym, another reason that I remembered it that way was that some of the story line mentioned winter while the environment was using spring (or autumn) textures all the time.
  5. Just try to learn about development cycle for any bigger software project. As a really quick rule of thumb, ask anyone without any inexperience about the his take on the effort - the real one will be at least 10 times as that. Ask a developer - he'll give you some number - ask PM what he thinks about it - he'll multiply that number by 2 or 3. And just to relax a bit: what's the standard number that every developer will give when being asked how much of his task he has completed - most of the cases the answer will be 90% ;)
  6. There are threads that discuss differences between those two. I've got a Mi-8 first, spent a lot of time flying it, then got the Huey and after few hours with it I came back to Mi-8. Since than Huey sits for some other time in hangar. IMO it depends mostly on personal preferences, nostalgia, ethetics, etc.. Technically both are great modules.
  7. Fully agree, editing the commands files is pretty much a must to be able to map the keys for warthog. In reality I think I had to add those commands for every single module that I fly, including M2000C which probably did the best work out there (obviously when not counting A10-C). The biggest annoyance comes from the fact that from time to time there are updates made in the original file so it's necessary to compare the files and merge own bindings eventually - instead of just copy/paste the file. The other problem is that it's not always possible to make a 2/3-way button command if approporiate actions are not defined (i.e. the off/taxi/landing lights in MiG-21 has only a toggle command). Would love to see the devs adding such bindings by default – it’s not a rocket science after all -> up on else off for 2 way switch and 2 commands for 3 way one.
  8. Thank you for this post! It's really just not fair to complain about someone doing a great job and others enjoying it just because it's not someone’s pair of shoes.
  9. Or maybe the manual needs to be fixed ;) This small action would require not only the other person being able to join the same cockpit but also a proper radio communication via intercom.
  10. It's a point that was always interesting for me. I'm always keeping the pitch/roll channel on, altitude and heading off and then trimming a lot. The question is what the best practice is (if there is any) and how it looks in reality. The reason why I gave up on using the heading autopilot is that the computer pedals always come back to center instead of staying in place as those in the real Mi8. In result the centering action when the pedals are eased and then moving the pedals into a trimmed position makes the helicopter wiggle side to side. Besides of that, not to be totally off topic - Mi-8 is a great module. Totally recommended! I have never though that a transport helicopter can be so much interesting and engaging.
  11. Hate to play the devil’s advocate but the module has just got released. As such probably we shouldn't expect more than bug fixing and not much, if any of new features being added. At some point of time the devs really have to call it a day and move on with new projects. Otherwise they'll just stuck in constant development and maintenance cycle.
  12. Rear gunner works fine - in respect that he is shooting (not necessarily hitting the target though). Just make sure that the helicopter is positioned in a way that the gunner has an angle on the target.
  13. I can be missing something but is there a way to aim down the sights - something like RMB in FPS (sorry for trivial compression)? What I'm doing is pausing the TIR when aiming as also zooming in with the mouse wheel. Still when the mouse/gun is moved the camera gets off center of the sights. It gets aligned back after a while after mouse movement is stopped. In result the feeling of the gun controls is rather "rubbery" or lagy. My suggestion would be to remove or minimize this effect.
  14. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=178132&highlight=embark https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=177317&highlight=embark https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=176514&highlight=embark https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=176902&highlight=embark and probably few more.
  15. I think it's a good decision. The visibility for the rear gunner must be like looking through a straw. Most of the people would just try it one, twice and then come back to the main thing which is flying the chopper. Just trying to be fair here, it's the same with the door gunners - they are controlled by AI for good reasons. Personally I have the same opinion about the multi-crew - It's hard to imagine that a core game-play would be someone spending his whole flight as a gunner (Maybe some day if we'll get the B-17). IMO, just to summarize. To improve: - AI gunners efficiency - as someone wrote they're just expanding ammo. Even if pilot takes all the care to fly slow and steady. At the moment this one is the biggest issue. - AI gunners burst length - even on high setting it's too short. Maybe consider making short, medium, long. It would be great to have a setting for those fast and close flybys when the gunner should just more or less hold the trigger. - Aiming control - there is a big delay between mouse movement and reaction of the gun. In result at the moment aiming is just a nightmare. Please make the gun control and mouse input 1:1. To fix: - sound bug: gun firing sound is looped and is being played after AI gunner has stopped shooting. Once AI starts shooting again the sound gets back to normal. - external view for sling loading - outside front cabin section is missing, cockpit is visible. Not a priority, nice to have: - rear gunner - multi crew Overall, great work on the Mi-8 - it's just a fantastic module. Kudos for the manual. Since it was an release and the module is pretty much feature complete just do the bug fixing and move forward with developing another great aircraft ;)
  16. Gents, I'm just about to try it out but by RTFM - reading the flight manual (or reading the new fantastic manual :) ): Key commands for playing as a gunner (page 373) [4] - Take the door gunner’s place [1] - Take the pilot’s place [Rshift + K] - Aktivate kneeboard [K] - Aktivate kneeboard (shown only while the key is kept pressed) [Lwin + H] - Activate/ deactivate gunner’s status panels while playing as a door gunner [LCtrl + Lwin + 4] - Sets ROE of the door gunner [LCtrl + 5] - Sets ROE of the tail gunner [Lalt + T] - Switches simultaneous use of TrackIR and mouse modes [F9] - Disables/enables TrackIR from its own software It looks like that at the moment the door gunner is controllable while the tail one is purely AI. IMO, no issue with that, super great that the door gunner is controllable.
  17. Just downloaded the manual... wow it's great. Can't imagine how much work went into updating and completing it. Thanks!
  18. +1. Even if you're going to sit relatively far away still there are other things to consider like input lag, ghosting and screen tearing (lack of support for adaptive sync) and many more issues related to screen characteristics as also features (like lack USB concentrator). Edit: Using TV as a monitor is ok for showing pictures, power point or maybe for editing an excel. When it comes for more non trivial applications like gaming, DTP, CAD, etc, dedicated monitors will always be much better.
  19. Question - since Viggen is potentially so close to the release it would be great to have a possibility to pre purchase it. It would be also great to have an indication on how feature complete is the module going to be at its initial release. Is the target for the release to be more of a beta with community testing expected and few non-essential feature missing or more of an alpha with potentially long time till the module reaches a solid state. Looking at the announcement post I hope for more of an complete, finished module release.
  20. Adjust TIR curves by decreasing sensitivity at the further head movement.
  21. I didn't thought that I'll say it but thats too much - Spit and Viggen at the same time :) Good that Christmass break is coming. There should be enough time to fly both :)
  22. Just started to read about the Viggen. Attack version didn't had a cannon - only possibility to mount gun pods.
  23. Have to admit that Viggen wasn't too much appalling to me. Great work with the teaser. Now I'm totally sold, going to get it for sure :) I'm quite sure that the plane will be great. Just hope that the campaign will match it ;)
  24. -1 as Red have the Ka-50. IMO the way to go is dedicated aircrafts for both sides while keeping it reasonable from perspective of what is possible due to modules availability in DCS at given moment.
  25. Could be that F-14 had an IFF equipment but with limited capability - for example only the transmitter but with limited or without a possibility to interrogate radar contacts. On the other hand if this is the case it'll be an "interesting" experience on the MP servers. Especially those that are already a mess due to "all" aircrafts on both sides (which is kind of majority at the moment).
