  1. Well, yes, I'm 100% agree with you on this mate. Blue Flag isn't a training server for sure and as it has been said multiple times it has high standards which doesn't suit for rookies. In the end, I just hope the Blue Flag experience will motivate people to dig deeper in the learning process. Thank you very much mate.
  2. Thanks Zeus !
  3. We had organization at some time, but some people doesn't have enough experience with the sim yet. There are rookies everywhere, even in REDFOR but I rather be optimistic thinking that people will learn from Blue Flag experience. In first hand, recently, a lot of huge changes impacted the sim, such as SRS usage which required some familiarization for everyone. Blue Flag provides, by far, the best level of immersion and realism. As we discussed before, everyone has to be mature and responsible for this to work properly. In the other hand, I do fly on DCS for years, just like some people out here, I assume it's not that easy for rookies to be involved in such a structured virtual conflict. That said, as long as you are satisfied of you and your wingmen performance there is no need to be ashamed of anything. I personnally had a really good performance on this round; this is my reward for all the training session I made by my side, countless hours learning new stuff and practicing almost everyday, here's my own victory. Blue Flag isn't that chaotic, I had really good moments, especially yesterday night (UTC +1) when my flight package was GCI tasked on a CAP station and suddenly a package of F-15C (callsign: Cock 31/32) joined us up in formation for 20 min before they ended their vul time; it was such a cool moment, just like all those standard break arrivals we made. I'm confident that with some more time, knowledge & training, BLUFOR pilots will rise again and sharpen their skills to be more efficient in the next round. I do believe Blue Flag competition is the one and only event where you can truely express your talent publicly so bring it on !
  4. As a GCI myself working for BLUFOR I would like to clarify some things regarding GCI facts you highlighted. As a GCI, I always try to establish coms with aircrafts within' my controlled area, for instance I recently was in charge of controlling the eastern airspace and I kept looking for new player to take care off, however the biggest problem is people who aren't on frequency. Some advises here, first, contact GCI only when you're airborne, I had few pilots who contacted my while on chocks so I couldn't take care of them, remain on 251.0 until the end of your departure. Once done, monitor to the GCI frequency (either 264.0 or 254.0, it depends of your current location as we have two GCIs who works togheter by splitting the whole airspace in half resulting having a GCI West and a GCI East), this "control split" is roughly related to PAKs area. Once you're tuned in, announce yourself by giving aircraft type and position so we can find you faster on the screen. Many GCI including myself are using a callsign within their nickname to claritfy things up even more (Magic, Sentry, Darkstar, and so on). Concerning the job itself, we don't see everything as it depends of our EWR setup on the battlefield wich extend our vision I believe, and sometimes there are some bugs that are corrected by changing slot, happened to me yesterday, I was blind for 30 min until I changed slot (guessing that's an ED side bug ?). Also, it's a good thing that some pilots report hostile contacts (relative to their aircraft or bulls) as sometimes picture appears to be clean whereas it's not. It happens that GCI has to "guess" for bandits as those aren't showing up on the map, that way, flight reports helps a lot and offers to GCI the possibility to divert other CAP flight packages to the "last known contact position". Finally, if you have to RTB for any reason (vul ending, winchester, joker/bingo), you can also warn the GCI to help him in his packages management, then he'll clear you to monitor to another frequency, most likely 251.0. :smilewink:
  5. I don't get your point, but next time keep your feelings for you, would you ? I don't think this is the right place for such pointless debate as I don't even know what you are referring to. Bugs are being reported, that's it.
  6. I rather keep it simple because... DCS. :smilewink:
  7. Don't delete it ! This is gold !
  8. I replaced the file but it didn't fix the problem, however deleting MagicSeek did the job ! Thanks Rlaxoxo.
  9. Hmm with Rlaxoxo latest update to his soundmod we can't hear the Magic tone anymore. May you consider releasing an updated version sedenion ?
  10. Hello everyone, Well here's the little story, I made a blue-on-blue on Blue Flag flying the plane yesterday. Fact is, I was 100% sure my actions were checked and that I didn't had commit any mistake whatsoever. However, I managed to do the unthinkable so I wanted to know what exactly happened. Since I was sure it wasn't my fault, I decided to go for a bug hunt as I believed the plane was faulty as crazy as it sounds regarding the IFF system (I do believe this bug isn't new)... and I was right, I found the bug. That might explain a lot of blue-on-blue situations on Blue Flag while flying the plane even though the pilot is faulty most of the time. Here's a real bug with the IFF that needs an urgent fix, it was tested with a friendly M-2000C AI flying hot. The bug seems to occure as soon as you're into CCM mod and you select the S530D, passing this point your IFF system will consider your target as hostile. Video proof as follows. Peace out. http://youtu.be/10-BOQkXtlo
  11. I'd love that !
  12. Hello mate, first of all thank you very much. It would be my pleasure to work with you, I think we should talk in private about this. As I said, each modules seems to be managed differently regarding the light system. Fixing RAZBAM lights was kinda easy as it was almost self explanatory, but official DCS modules seems to be a bit trickier. I had quickly look into the A10C files and I couldn't find the matching texture. However, the A10C lights aren't that bad but they tend to form a halo just like all modules on DCS while you dezoom which is absurd, so I dunno if those can be improved or if it's hard coded. For sure, FC3 aircrafts definetely need a huge rework, moreover those aircrafts are the ones the most played on DCS so I guess they deserved the priority. I'll send you some of my informations in private so we can discuss this togheter and try the figure out things on the subject. :smilewink:
  13. You're right buddy. Anyway, if we do it like this, Buddy Spike admins will need to clarify frequency usage trought a video tutorial, .pdf file, -motd or else to make things clear. That said, I'm fine aswell using a single ATC frequency. I don't mind. But it will be indeed more realistic to tune in the homeplate frequency rather than a global frequency. By my side, the only things I do report on the GCI's channel are splashes by giving bullseye reference of the splash occurence, nothing else. GCI are sometimes blind or get a picture clear on their scope, so reporting such events may also raise global SA. "Magic, Charcot 22 splash bandit at bulls 067 for 254." Finally, it looks like red are having a hard time...
  14. Hey Rlaxoxo, I've been recently watching this video while trying to distinguish each sound between each other. The wind sound is clearly audible but I guess it sounds quieter while wearing the helmet. It appears there's an engine whistle which is affected by the throttle position, just like in F16 BMS and that's really great. Any chance you could add this to your soundmod ? [ame] [/ame]
  15. People gotta be more responsible when joining Blue Flag, it has been said for people applying as GCI since it can makes the difference between victory and defeat, but pilots are aswell concerns. Of course there are people who are still learning out there, or simply got enough and who don't wanna go deeper in the learning process. If pilots would match the radio frequency of their home plate using SRS instead of getting into one common ATC channel for every airfields that would clear the comms even more plus it matches more what's done in real life, so we're aiming more towards realism in that case at the same time. If they do not wish to join SRS, they can AT LEAST use the poor vanilla ATC menu comms to state their intentions, it still something. And well, if they do not want to do at least that, I'd probably start to loose faith. Being not on coms isn't responsible and it's pretty similar to drive a supercar going 310 km/h on the autobahn while being blindfolded...
  16. I don't get it, I didn't even mention Forward Observer usage as ATC. The main idea behind this is all about auto-information rather than player controlled ATC who would actually give you instructions. Frostie got it, spot on.
  17. Well, putting a guy as an ATC is more complicated that it sounds as if you would like to done it right, the ATC dude should at least know every taxiway of every airfield which isn't really manageable when the server gets overcrowded (I'm not even considering having GND/TWR/APP ATC). You wanna shorten communication, but some communication in aeronautics are standard and cannot be shorten because there are rules. If you guys wanna get someone as an ATC, or use SRS for traffic information there aren't 36 ways to do it. Actually the rules on the 104th is pretty much like "it's okay to use both sides of the same runway as long as everyone remains on the left/right". Not to mention those taxiway takeoffs and stuff... 104th is pretty much okay for casual players looking for some SPAMRAAM genocides and frags. I thought Blue Flag was more oriented towards realism. Call it a break arrival, but once again, there are rules for this... You don't do a break arrival at 500 ft AGL. Am I too much hardcore ? Indeed. You're welcome. There may be some mistakes, I'm mostly familiar with civilian coms, not military ones. Panhead already pointed out something.
  18. +1. Well indeed, I'm agree for this and that would be more realistic. Matching airfield frequency with SRS in order to state intentions, that would allow non SRS users to state their intention aswell by using the vanilla DCS radio panel. Then, channel 1 could be used for something different instead...
  19. From what I've seen so far, ATC channel have plenty of room for traffic related coms now with SRS. Moreover the only ones who have to actually transmit something on the net are lonewolves and flight package leaders. Wingmen don't have to worry about this.
  20. What makes you think so despite the fact some dudes are asking about radios protocoles ? Well I do this, and my friends are hardcore simmers aswell who are into this kind of stuff. :smilewink:
  21. Here's what I'm doing so far in Blue Flag reguarding ATC. I'm illustrating this post using a basic flight roadmap and my own callsign, get your own. Once again that's how I do it, and some people might not want to push as far as I do, furthermore I'm pretty open concerning additional remarks. Keep in mind that we don't have useful informations such as NOTAM/ATIS/METAR/TAF on DCS yet. Also, I highly recommend you guys using callsigns in front of your names, as it helps the GCI to take care of you and your flight package, that's also a time saver on coms. First of all, you gotta use your charts to locate yourself and identify to important informations. Lets take a look at Sochi which is straight on the BLUFOR bulls. As soon as you are ready to taxi and according to the attached chart, go for : "Sochi Traffic, Charcot 22, 1 x M-2000C, Apron 1, taxiing Mike, Alpha, runway 06." Since we have only one ATC freq, you gotta point out the airfield you're at, in this case, Sochi. Give your callsign as in every radio transmission. In case you have the lead on a package made of multiple aircrafts you should call the quantity and the type of aircrafts going for taxi (only the flight lead does transmit on the ATC channel). Then, state your intentions and describe your path towards the active runway using the charts, in this case M(ike) and A(lpha). At this point, you should know what exit you're gonna use and be aware of potential altitude restrictions. In this case, you have to remain below 2600 AGL. Let's take the North exit as it's the best option to get in your CAP station pushing towards REDFOR side. "Sochi Traffic, Charcot 22, holding point Alpha, lining up and takeoff runway 06, North departure." Well you got it, you should be at the holding point Alpha runway 06 at the departure in this case, state your intentions once again and check for any incomming traffic on final BEFORE entering the runway. Once checks done, enter the runway and takeoff remaining runway heading then follow your departure track while watching your altitude. You gotta use your eyes to make your way towards the entry/exit as there are no DME informations on the ingame charts. In this example, it seems that you have to follow to river while remaining below 2600 AGL and then you should be cleared to your desired flight level. Then depending if you're flying alone or not. You can permanently tune one of your radios on 251.000 (ATC) and the other one on 264.000 (GCI). If you you're flying within a package, you can state as a flight lead : "Sochi Traffic, Charcot 22, leaving the area, pushing 264.000." I'm guessing you don't have to state Charcot 22 in the case you're in charge on multiple aircraft, but Charcot 2 for the whole package. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Then contact the GCI (in the case you aren't knowing the GCI callsign, go for) : "Anyface, Charcot 22." Doing so is a com request to the GCI. If he's online, he'll most likely reply "Charcot 22, Magic, go ahead." Then, you have to proceed to the check-in which is basically telling the GCI where you are at (who you are, where you are coming from /w number of ships, your position relative to bullseye, flight level and intentions), then you're free to ask him whatever you want (well, maybe not....), vectors to homeplate/alternate/specific group/tanker, picture, bogey dope... Once you're done, you can alert Magic that you're bingo/winchester/end of playtime and that you're flight package is RTB. That may help the GCI and make him divert other aircrafts towards the CAP zone you've established with your groups to guarantee the best safeness for your strikers on duty. "Magic, Charcot 22 flight level 300, pancake fuel/ammo, heading home Sochi." Get back to your charts and identify the most appropriate entry/exit you wanna use, check altitude restrictions. Let's take the West entry arrival for runway 06. Check your frequencies, make sure you have the ATC channel selected so you won't disrupt the GCI frequency by mistake. "Sochi Traffic, Charcot 22, 1 x M-2000C, EJ75 at 5000, inbound visual, West entry." I don't know about EJ75, but you get the idea, give your grid to let know other pilots where you're at aswell as your altitude. Then, state the entry you're using. Follow your track then once you are vertical on the initial (marked on the chart) : "Sochi Traffic, Charcot 22, on the initial, short final runway 06, full stop." Once wheels down and speed controlled, vacate the runway. "Sochi Traffic, Charcot 22, runway vacated via Echo." That way, people will be aware that the runway is free of usage, and your position on the taxiway. After that, you can state your intention to taxi the a specific parking, then once a blocks you can go for: "Sochi, Charcot 22, on blocks apron 1, leaving the frequency."
  22. He isn't the flight lead, he's the left wingman being in a Vic formation.
  23. Wow, it was such a mess tonight on BF. Taxiway takeoffs and so on, people not giving a damn on coms. However managed to get 3 gun kills and 1 S530D kill while merging 10 miles out Gudauta with the broken M2KC. Much fun but really something not worth to see on a live stream.
  24. Good catch !
