  1. I really want to play multiplayer but just can't enjoy it while we have one allied plane, 2 axis planes, and a 1990s-era caucuses theatre to use them in. When a more compete WW2 theatre is available, I'll be in like Flynn.
  2. It's something I've always wondered as well and I don'T think I've seen a clear response yet; is the Caucuses Map going to get a mesh update?
  3. If I can add to this as a relative noob not only to the P51 but to combat sims in general; I've found myself able to survive for longer and occasionally defeat the bnz tactics of the AI 190 now (haven't tried the 109 yet, that's the next step) purely thanks to reading and watching tips from more experienced pilots and simply getting plenty of stick time.
  4. Does this include a new mesh? Didn't seem like it from the trailer, but IMHO the Caucuses mesh needs more of an overhaul than the textures.
  5. Are there any quick and easy guides to fighting against boom 'n zoom tactics?
  6. I asked the same thing over at Avsim and the answer seemed to be 'currently no but we're gonna wait and see'. http://www.avsim.com/topic/483642-ask-dovetail-games-about-dtg-flight-school-flight-simulator/?p=3388811 Given that they acquiesced to user pressure to put TrackIR in transim, I imagine they'll get around to VR for flightsim at some point, or someone else will work out how to do it.
  7. I'd be interested in this as well; regular updates on how complete the manual currently is would be really useful. Unless Chuck gets there first...
  8. Yep, I'm pretty much in the same position. Since getting DCS a few months back I didn't boot up X-Plane once and ended up 'Joseing' it from my hard drive last week. DCS has made it seem just so...unconvincing. Really enjoying the prop planes, particularly Mustang, in DCS. Airframe responses to stick movements / environmental stimuli like wind just seem so much more plausible than X-Plane.
  9. Hmmm, not much 'news' in the last 2 newsletters.
  10. The OP is fairly clear but can I just clarify that we will get British variants eventually?
  11. Yeah, I had the same thing with my X52 when I tried mapping cockpit zoom to a slider on the throttle. If anyone comes up with a solution I'd love to hear it...
  12. Thanks, that's good to hear.
  13. Is that on the roadmap for DCS?
  14. I think Fab may be being a tad sarcastic...?
  15. Whoa, what F16 cockpit photo leak?
  16. One thing I'd really like to see updated when Black Sea goes to T4 is the mesh. The visual quality of pretty much everything else is so much better than the mesh, which, especially in the mountains, is really showing its age.

    Whats Next?

Just out of interest why hasn't anyone done an F16 yet? Would sell like hot cakes, clearly relevant, plethora of other sim F16s suggests technical info isn't hard to come by etc.
  18. A turboprop trainer like the Tucano might be a good compromise, as well as giving pilots the option of 'starting a career' up to the fast jets.
  19. Wow, that's a tough call. If it's any consolation, Witcher 3 is an amazing game.

    request skins

Any chance of a cold war RAF camo skin?
  21. I'm looking forward to a whole series of clear and concise instructional videos on how to do pretty much everything.
  22. I'm a newcomer to DCS world so can't compare to previous iterations but I also have no luck finding ground targets visually in 1.5. IL2 BOS is fairly easy, but then I have no idea what's realistic...
  23. It seems reasonable not to give an exact date for release if the final stage is QA testing. ED are probably scared that, given the hysteria when an assumed date is missed, if a tester does spot something meaning an exact date will be missed they'll have actual, real blood on their hands...
  24. Pretty good Tonka in the works for Xplane, but would much prefer to see this in DCS. http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=90315&p=974371
