  1. I have no problem landing A-10, L-39, Mig 29, but struggle with the F-15. I think a useful piece of advice I'm learning is to not so much land the plane, as fly it onto the runway. Slow to between 250 - 300 kn as you start your approach, stick your velocity vector on the end of the runway, maintain an AoA of 20 - 22 units, and plan to touch down at about 160 kn. I'm destroying fewer and fewer sets of landing gear. Maybe we'll run across each other on a server somewhere and have a noobfight.
  2. It's a real feeling of satisfaction when you get power and pitch trim juuuuust right....and can take your hands off the controls for a bit.
  3. I can second this.
  4. So the default "empty" loadout for the L-39C has no pylons at all. Are you referring to having an empty loadout, but with the pylons? If so, why?
  5. Skull, create an empty loadout in the mission editor. Use that.
  6. So what's the status of this mod? Is there an edited, working source somewhere?
  7. Keep working on that title champ....you're getting closer. /I'm pulling your leg. :)
  8. I never noticed that. I've just been clicking the cockpit control.
  9. Then why have an operational gun camera at all?
  10. I got bored creating missions for the L-39ZA out on the flat farm land and stuck some targets in one of those deep, narrow canyons leading out of the Caucasus mountains. An outpost, a few infantrymen, a couple of Stryker vehicles, mortars, and last but not least, one manpad. It is possible to sneak up on the target. I run the mission as a "ground attack" mission and use a custom weapons load; FAB-250s on the outside pylons and rockets on the inner pylons. The "book" says you enter a bombing run at 1200 m with an L-39; but what do you do if the surrounding terrain is mountainous? Southwest of Beslan is a fortified outpost straddling an important road into the mountains. A spotter in the hills above the target will pop a red smoke grenade on the target when you're inside of 5 km. l39ZA_43KM_220deg.zip
  11. Just wait for the A-12.
  12. Here's the correct Tacview file in zip format. Tacview-20160308-200512-DCS.txt.zip
  13. Holy crap! I picked the wrong file. That's from a year ago. When I get home I'll try it again.
  14. Yeah, it does say 440 km/h, doesn't it? Been missing that parameter. Nonetheless, results are still there.
  15. What the manual says. A dive angle of 20 deg with a the ASP set at 13 and trying to ingress at 1200 m at 400 kmh and releasing about 700 m. That's where I started. Those specs are a good starting point. It will start you knowing about where and when to hit the release. I laid two FAB-250s dead center on my target last night and had very little left to mop-up with the rockets. And I missed the parameters on the "book" approach attack. I zipped a Tacview file for reference. You'll note I came in shallow. I changed from FaceTrackNoir to OpenTrack and I've noticed that in OpenTrack, I can't lean over and look over the side so to speak. I'm still working on my visual cues for starting an attack run. I'm also using the warhead mod. Tacview-20150327-195625-DCS.txt.zip
  16. Are you really landing at 120 kph? You should be touching wheels at something like 180.
  17. Right under the bomb I guess. I dunno, really didn't look for that spec. Offhand, I think it was on the order of 30 ft? I'm at work and can't check right now.
  18. The farthest is 209 ft.
  19. I did not know Tacview could tell me that. Keep in mind, I'm using Erpe's warhead mod. Tacview is showing lethality to 200 ft. They are exposed infantry not in vehicles and with no buildings or terrain features.
  20. My bombing is starting to get better. Following the manuals weapons and delivery parameters is paying off.
  21. Well, the Gsh-23 fires HE rounds; which tend to improve damage. It isn't because it's simply larger. The .30 caliber round from the pods has to rely on direct hits to soft targets to cause damage. So unless you can pack a lot of infantry into a very small area, you won't get much damage. I just thought of trying the pod guns against a small boat. I would presume they are wooden and relatively flimsy compared to any land vehicle.
  22. I'm starting to get the grasp of setting up the gunsight for each type of ordnance. It hasn't taken long to greatly improve the amount of damage I'm inflicting. Specifically, setting the gunsight reflector deflection angle correctly, then actually hitting the correct dive angle. Once I started watching, I realized my dives were a lot more shallow than I thought. And don't shoot too soon.
  23. You're English is fine. Decreasing the distance is mapped to the period (.) key and increase is mapped to the semi-colon (;). I waived my mouse cursor all around the throttle to see if there was a clickable control and could not find one.
  24. Ah ha! I'm flying too slow to fire the cannon. Off to test it!
